a deep dive into buying housing w/cash vs getting a loan would be cool. i hear if you live on the island its easier to get a loan. also see a lot of unpermitted homes around that are wonderful to look at but cant acquire. would love to know if there is any way that someone can better find homes without having to sift through all the unpermitted properties. thanks, love the channel. aloha & mahalo.😊 have a good day, eh

Love this type of format - pairs well with your drives in the community. Allows us to figure out where we can afford and then delve into the community with the driving videos. Nice job! Working backwards, - areas to price conversation - it may get our hopes up LOL… Really like this price based format so we can focus on those areas. Mahalo!

You guys were the only realtors driving to the actual locations where us viewers could see how the traffic was how the vibe was and even hearing stories of your childhood, your teenage, and adult years in certain neighborhoods brought outsiders to see what home could be like there. Bottom line…. If you are growing up in Hawaii, chances are you won’t be able to afford to purchase a home (on your own) unless you are making a lot of $$$, have saved up a substantial amount for the down payment, and don’t mind an hour plus commute to and from work- you’ll be living beyond Kapolei. It’s just too hard. This is why kids leave to go to college abd never come back. More opportunities and a lower cost of living in the mainland. Those who stay, will struggle, working at least 2 jobs and likely to rent for life. Doesn’t have to be this way. Things can change but gotta change the way our local government is run.

Part of the problem is that the locals don't want the mainland jobs to come here because it will bring a lot of people along with it. This is why there's no tech jobs in Hawaii. Think what would happen if SV companies relocated to Hawaii? Well now it's kind of like that except the jobs are still in mainland but the people are here working remotely and driving up prices even higher.

Ewa Beach one bedroom walkup in 1993; $148,500. Like unit around me recently sold for $380,000. Nice for me, but nuts for anyone buying.

Hey I just seen your videos and you were talking bout the million range on the north east side my dads gunna sell his house and we all tell him he is getting ripped off for his duplex 6 bed 2.5 bath house right across from the beach can u reach out and lmk or him if he’s getting the right deal or not? What is the point of living in Oahu? The average person that lives in Oahu is just surviving...not thriving. I moved here last summer and was shocked this is the reality. A sliced pineapple costs $20. I feel sorry for Hawaiians. The divide between the have and have not on the island is disheartening. All about the Benjamins baby!

Why moving to Maui is a bad idea...It's very expensive to live here. Not enough water to go around. If you're not making at least $100, 000 as a single person or more, forget it living on Maui. Housing costs are outrages as well as rent!! Maui's job market is very poor. Not many jobs that require high skill sets. Maui is a service the visitor economy. Maui has one hospital, one large airport and one large commercial harbor. I'm very fortunate to live on my family's land that has been in our family for over 200 years. It's a large property that requires lots of work due to abundant fruit trees that are located on the property. My great-great parents did it right with the Royal Patents and the Great Mahela that awarded them clear land title. Lastly, we have encountered a few brave souls within the last two years, that ventured down to our property to inquire if we would sell our beautiful property...and the answer is and will always be NO! Keep up the good work and getting the information out to the Hawaii community.

You know what I like see When talking about the $800k-$1.2m price point, the commonalities of those buyers. Typical income, typical down payment, etc, so that we the potential buyers can break up that ultimate goal into smaller, achievable goals instead of a blanket price that seems unreachable. For example, if most million dollar buyers earn $200k annual with $300k down, then maybe between me and my partner we can each earn $100k, then buy a starter home that may appreciate enough to reach that downpayment combined with savings.

My house is around the $800K price point. 3 bed/3bath townhome, 1360 sqft, Ewa Beach, built 2017, $700+ maint fees.

@@Frenchieeeee amenities cost money to maintain. Not to mention the buildings themselves, the landscaping, the water, the electricity, etc. Every homeowner is informed on where the money is going. One of the biggest expenses is insurance for the property.

That’s low end, from what I’ve seen. Most HOA’s running $500-$1000+.

It's because Hawaiiana manages most properties in Hawaii and they charge for stamps and envelopes on top of 30% profit

These prices hurt my feelings & I thought the DC area was expensive. I still want to move to Oahu in the future, but the reality of what you get in Oahu for less than $500K delayed that for the time being. 😩 Love these videos!

What you guys did sitting down deserves a time out from this Latina because all you had to do was bring the chat to the actual places as you drive there. I miss you guys driving and talking about the community, the history, the vibe of each town in Oahu. What happened to those times where you guys would make silly jokes and then proceed to talk about Waianae or Kailua or whatever location you were in? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 please …..I beg you Mahe, tell Mr. Derek to drive you to the towns where you will talk about real estate prices, the vibe of that area etc etc etc… the music, the food, the hot spots in that area, the pros the cons….Lol…just giving you guys a hard time….no but seriously get back to that time! 😅😅😅
