Horrors I could not imagine being torn from my family. The family’s parents, never gave up trying to find their children. They kept fighting the IRS until it was abolished.

Potlach’s are from BC. They’re called “Hoobiyee?” Or Feasts. There are different indigenous nations across Canada. These events do happen still.

I WISH I KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING!!!!!!! I would have made or tried to attend figure out how to attend. I was raised by my great grandparents, grandma, great aunties and great uncles as well as my aunties and uncles and mother. More directly with my grandma,but I was always with her and my great grandparents and aunties and uncles.

The children weren’t just forbidden or discouraged to speak their language they were severely punished and shamed and abused/ forced not to use their language. Some Children’s tongues were pierced with needles.
