I'm the only french horn in my band, and I have a few solos in concert next week. I just started and I can barely play yet so that's fun.

I recently played a Christmas concert, I play percussion and I was on sleigh bells, triangle, and crash. My friend was on woodblock and snare. So anyway, he picked up the woodblock and he hit it but it sounded like you just hit a desk with a rubber mallet so he freaked out and tried to put it down, knocking everything off a stand. So he tried to pick everything up which made him miss his snare entrance. Me and the bass drum player were like, “max, max, you good? Max?”

“It’s like he took a tuba part which is mostly whole notes the entire time.” The most accurate thing I’ve heard about tubas. Considering I am one.

That drum fail has me dead 😂😂😂

I started playing trumpet in the 6th. grade in the lunchroom with about 25 others. One day while playing "Jimmy Crack Corn", the band director abruptly stopped the band and then looked at me and said "Keith, do the world a big favor and put your trumpet back into the case. Take it home and sell it because you are the worst trumpet player I have ever heard in my entire life! I did what he said until the 7th. grade, New band director and a new motivation. Today I am 70 years old and play trumpet professionally. I have 20 full CD's out and play better today than I did in college at 1st. chair. No teacher should ever say anything like that to a kid because it only made me work harder NOT TO FAIL. when my band director was in middle school, his slide fell off mid performance and fell off the stage😂. he had to wait for the piece to get done before he got it back. and it was a long ass piece

1:01 the bass drum is supposed to be like slanted downwards kind of crooked, not straight like that

you should do a winter guard fail and there would be a lot to choose from. including judging! i judged movement, which is all about what they are doing and how they are doing it. simple. this guard is performing and in the middle, this one person lays on the floor while everyone else did grand jete's over her. great! i gave them credit for layering in space. the director of the guard asked to do the performance again. we said "sure" while he was crying. the girl had gotten hit in the head with a rifle and was knocked out while i was sampling in a different part of the floor. i didn't see the hit, just the result. NO! she's layering in space! she was fine later and they did a better job on the unusual 2nd run-through.

I remember last year there was an elementary band with 5th graders and this was a showcase and a teacher literally had to help a bass player playing on a marching bass using stairs as stands. Now I know when I was in elementary band we did not get help like the director told us if we messed up it’s on us

I was on stage, and my stand was broken and wobbly, and I was standing on the bottom of the stand so it would stay up, I’m a flute so up front, and we were performing for an elementary school, there was a kid upfront who had a broken leg. I loved my leg off the stand to ask my director something and the stand fell off the stage and onto the kid with the cast. I nearly died through the glare of my director

There was this one time about a week ago where the woodwind ensemble was playing and a French horn player just stopped playing and the girl next to him gave him a funny look right but kept playing ( I didn't realize this my friend told me what I'm about to say) he poor guy got a nosebleed and was motionless, he wiped it off but is was a lot of blood so we just got up and walked off the stage
