Hello Kate, appreciate your content 🙏🏻Can I ask which way is your trailing foot pointing. I always struggle with getting comfortable in this pose because I never know if the top of foot is on the mat, sole of the foot facing upwards with toes pointing back, or the is the foot rotated pointing to the side? 🧘

HI Barry! It does require some foot flexibility to have the top of your foot flat on the floor. It's best to have the toes pointed straight back, not to the side. That being said, if to the side feels good for you, then do it. There just shouldn't be pain. :)

Love it. Quick question if I may on your opinion. How important is the position of the bottom leg, the shin facing the top of the mat or sitting under you? And, do you think it's a passive or active pose? Thank you 🙏

It can be more passive. We see humble pigeon here where Kate is folded over her front leg. And also actively holding the position.

I 100% need to advance my pigeon but I’m nervous that putting my front knee on a block may cause knee pain. Is it a similar pose if I put the block under my back leg instead?

Yes very similar! It will stretch more of the back leg's psoas vs the front legs hamstring but each will get a little love. What I sometimes do is go to my couch and do pigeon there so it's nice and comfy. And you can keep the back foot tucked to give you height until you can really sink into it.
