How to Install Airlift Bags on a Jeep Gladiator!

After adding over 600lbs of overland camping gear to my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, I've had a problem with my rear end sagging. Today, I'm fixing that problem with an Air Lift 1000 airbag suspension helper kit. So, although it's not a lift, it puts the Jeep closer to the stock ride height from before adding all of the weight. I have something similar to those on my truck for pulling the 5th wheel. They are great. I didn't realize it was this easy to put on for the Jeep. I would assume that they same thing is probably available for the Wrangler. I pull a teardrop trailer with my Wrangler and whenever I pull the teardrop after dark everyone feels the need to show me how bright their lights can get when driving towards me. LOL!!! So I might just give those a try. Thanks for the great install video. Pat

I had them on my Ram 1500 after I lowered it. It was a concrete queen.😂 but they made a huge difference. My only concern on the jeep would be losing articulation in the suspension off road. Can’t wait to see a long term review.

Thank you sir, just what I was looking for. I actually have these in my Amazon cart, but couldn’t decide. Have a JTR with the Decked 2.0 like yours and the additional weight of a Smart Cap on there. My 4” lift was more of a 3” lift : )

Your install videos are always interesting. I am wondering that with 600 lbs of great camping gear installed, how much vehicle weight capacity is left over for people and all the consumable supplies you would take overlanding?

It’s tight. The payload capacity is 1200lbs. So, I’ll have just enough for my family with minimal baggage before topping out. But, I might downsize the power station from the current 100lb setup to a 40lb single unit. All of my supplies are in the current load. Thank you for stopping in and sharing your thoughts!

I’m curious, you said you had an airbag system on your minivan? I have a Ram C/V minivan that I made into a camper and it’s not so much what I put in the van that weighs it down but what I have on my bumper. I have a metal tractor supply box bolted to a hitch mount cargo carrier. That alone probably weighs close to 100lbs. I also have a champion inverter generator that goes in there and that weighs about 50lbs with fuel and oil. When you add up the rv type things, and tools I have in that box there is likely 200-220lbs on my hitch. This definitely lowers the rear end and adds quite a bit of bounce when going over things like railroad tracks, and overpass bridges on highways. I don’t do much off road driving so ride height isn’t the main priority. I’m just looking for something to ease some of the additional weight and improve the bouncing. Can you tell me what airbags you had on your van and where I can find them.

My minivan would bottom out unloaded before installing the airbags. But, after the install I no longer had any problems with it. Does your rear suspension have springs? If so, you can add some of these that are specifically designed for your vehicle. Check out their website.
