In this video we'll be playing my tryhard deck, Lurrus Chthonian Nightmare Energy, and playing through some ranked games. I'll make sure to explain all of my decision making so that you can learn how to play better.

Ive been running a very similar version. I run Phlage with Nightmare. I also decided to run 1 bombardment over the 4th Nightmare

That last opponent was a payed actor (or had a really bad sideboard).

Just curious, I'm checking out Timeless for the first time. What are the main reasons you love it?

The games are super fast and skill-testing. You can literally lose games to your own bad decision making before you even cast your first spell, which keeps me engaged as a competitive player. The format is also relatively un-solved due to its lower player count and lack of tournaments, and we have every card ever up onto Arena to try and solve the meta with.

Is it normal for energy decks to run deafening silence? I play a lot of show and tell and haven't ran into it. Too strong against s&t! Love your timeless content btw

Yeah its super common. Its in all of my decks at least. Its the best 1 mana hate piece against S&T imo.

Yes because not only is it great against SnT, it also shuts down Phoenix and Storm decks.

I'm just trying out your version (I've played Boros before) and I'm liking it so far. Made a few changes because I like Goblin Bombardment so much that I'm playing 2 copies (I cut 1 Bowmaster for it) and I also run Lightning Bolt over Swords (I have 2 Swords in the sideboard though). Also changed 1 Bloodstained Mire for 1 Arena of Glory. I do have question though because I don't see the use of it. What is the Prismatic Ending for in the sideboard? At best you can exile a 3cmc permanent for 3mana with it but only at sorcery speed. And that just doesn't seem worth it to me plus I'm really struggling to see what you target with that you can't bolt or swords instead.

You can realistically replace it with any other removal spell. Prismatic Ending is there because it hits any permanent, including chalice of the void. 1 mana to clear a chalice, an opposing static prison, or an opposing guide of souls is nice. But how many times has someone actually put a chalice out against you lol

@@KoraeTimeless How does is clear a Chalice set to 1? Isn't it considered a 1cmc spell itself? Or does it count as 2cmc spell as soon as I select a second color and pay 2 mana? Also can you pay extra for it in case Amped Raptor hits it or is it stuck a 1 in that case?

@@tmGrunty Yeah you can over-pay. If you pay X=1, its a 2 CMC spell on the stack. With Amped Raptor it will always be X=0, whenever you cast any spell for free, X is always zero.

@@KoraeTimeless Okay thank you. Probably worth running 1 copy then. Question if whether I'd cut the 4th Thoughseize or the 2nd Swords to Plowshares to make room for it in the sideboard.

Why don't you play demonic tutor?

You generally don't want to play demonic tutor in non-combo decks like this. This is an aggro deck at its core, so we're trying to minimize the amount of clunky and slow hands. The last thing an aggro deck wants to do is spend 2 mana at sorcery speed to not impact the boardstate. Imagine if you have an opening hand that was 4 lands, Guide of Souls, DT, and an Amulet. That's way too slow, and we'd lose to any sort of fast deck, so you'd want to mulligan. But if you replaced the DT in that hand with another good creature like Amped Raptor, then that hand starts punching and putting on pressure immediately.
