Yes, cheap matcha can be okay for a bit, but it just isn't really worth it in my opinion. I tried a few different ones and you always can tell when it's poor quality. The powder is green-yellow and it tastes way too bitter. There are brands where you can get 50 grams or so for a reasonable price and it can last quite a a while. The taste is nice and full and I always feel so much better drinking matcha as opposed to coffee.

I was WAITINGGG for you to review Mighty Leaf and I’m so surprised because I really thought you would hate it but I am happy because I thought I was going crazy for enjoying a low quality matcha I really needed to know what you thought of it 😂

I love your matcha videos. I LOVE Marukyu Koyamaen. They are my favorite matcha brand besides Ippodo. They sell it at a couple matcha cafes near me (I'm in the San Francisco bay area). So far, I've had Aoarashi and Isuzu. Looking forward to trying Wako, Yugen, and Unkaku next time. : )

@@111nitya Hi there! I don't think anywhere in the bay area sells Ippodo (not positive though), but they do sell Marukyu Koyamaen at Izumi Matcha in San Jose and in Cupertino. They also sell it at a shop in Japan Town SF (Asakichi Antique and Tea Ceremony Store), and at Komeya no Bento in SF. Hope that helps!

I’ve tried a few of the blends from Naoki and I totally agree with you on the Superior blend that it’s too bitter and leaves a powdery mouthfeel, but try the lesser known Fragrant Yame for the better smooth but still delicate taste and gives you a sweet white chocolate matcha latte vibes when mixed with milk.

@@Veggiekins Yes these are very helpful! We are part 6, goes to show there are so many Matcha Powders out there, it can be overwhelming finding the right quality Matcha. So far I do agree there just alot of low grade on the market, but it can't be helped. The West isnt as popular with teas then it is with coffee therefore its harder to find good quality teas

I love Mizuba, they sell the tins at the local chain Bodhi Leaf Coffee Roasters in the OC and Santa Clarita CA

@@Veggiekins I couldn't find the review on Mizuba from your videos also. Would love to know what you think. There's a nearby matcha cafe here that solely uses Mizuba for all their matcha drinks.

I have tried both Tenju (Marukyu Koyamaen's most expensive matcha) and Green Mark (Koyamaen's least expensive -- I think) and I have to say that there is very little difference. This is why my go-to is their cheaper Chigi No Shiro or A Thousand Trees matcha... My all-time #1 favorite matcha and only like $60 for 200g which can last me like a month!!

For a really floral tasting matcha I suggest Mantra Matcha. Very smooth and less bitter and a unique character. I just choose the pure matcha not the flavored varieties.I get it when it’s 30% off and I’m always impressed 🌱💚🍵

Mighty Leaf was my starter matcha. I bought it to see if I would like it. It lead me to buying a much higher quality matcha, the whisk, bowl and all the matcha things 🍵

I don’t remember the brand that came with my kit of tray chasen spoon the thing that sifts the lumps. 175 degree water and quality is all over the place if it’s foamy it’s good

mighty leaf ceremonial grade matcha is in black tin you can get it at peets coffee change their packaging and maybe it might change color and taste i ❤ mighty leaf is my favorite tea brand

Also for imported matcha with rich character I highly recommend the Uji Hikari from Mei Leaf in London, with free shipping to the states when you get a larger order.

Hmmm I've tasted most blends by Naoki and can understand why you may not like it. According to their website, the Superior Blend for Naoki is meant for beginners. It's meant to introduce matcha to the drinker and not too heavy on the umami. The price is also cheaper on a per gram basis! They have recommendations on how to best consume the different blends they offer. You can try the fragrant yame or the chiran matcha since you are way more experienced! 😅

Well keep in mind shes reviewing like 6 different brands, Matcha powder is already quite expensive. Its not really affordable buying a variety of flavor from just a single brand, thats not really the point of the videos anyway. Maybe in the future she can revist some of the mommy approved matches brands but if different flavors she hadn't had befote.
