Finally one of you did it right. 1. Actually toasted the bread. 2. Actually buttered the toast. 3. Heated the beans properly. And yeah, It's the combo of the textures. Many like cheese on it but I like it like this. I wouldn't complain about cheese but I like it like this, with maybe a bit extra salt and maybe pepper if I'm feeling frisky. Oh, and bacon is never out of the question in the Uk, though not standard.

Try a fried egg on top of the beans...the yolk just slowly oozes out makes it that much more delicious 😋

As a Brit all I can say is thanks for doing this correctly. Thick cut bread, Heinz Beanz and actually making sure the beans are hot. The only way to make this next level is add some grated cheddar on top 👌

Cheesy beans on toast with eggs and ham recipe. ~~~~ Ingredients: 1 can of Heinz Beanz, heated in the microwave 4 pieces of buttered toast 1 semi thick slice of cooked ham 2 fried eggs 1 tomato slice fried 1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese ~~~~ Directions: On a large plate, place the toast near the edge. Pour on the beans. Put the eggs on the toast cutting the eggs in half so each piece of toast has 1/2 an egg with the yolk running out. Put the cheese on top of the eggs. On the side put the tomato slice and ham. Enjoy!!

Beans on toast is like a religion here in the UK and Ireland. I can say that you prepared it all perfectly. Looked really good. Sometimes the microwave can make the beans a bit watery, so I find cooking them down on the stove/hob gets them nice, thick and creamy 🤤

You're totally right, it works REALLY well with grated cheddar and a little bit of black pepper. I sometimes like to mix a little Tabasco or Frank's through the beans to give it a kick. If you melt the cheese onto the beans under the grill, we call that a Cheesy Beano.

I thoroughly enjoyed your enthusiasm for the humble beans on toast, my stiff upper lip gave a slight quiver and I could hear the opening verse of rule britannia in my ears. Seriously though it's such a go to norm here I forget that to others the concept of baked beans on toast is slightly bizarre, so it's interesting to see it through "fresh eyes". It is a staple, cheap filling and uncomplicated...you should definitely try it with cheese though, ideally mature cheddar with a dash of worcester sauce for extra culinary pizzazz :)

We eat it here in Australia also, its quite common and also the spaghetti in a can as well. We toast the bread, butter it and heat the beans up, put it on the toast and add shredded cheese on top. Deelish!

my family’s british… so while i’m in college in america where everything british is 1,000x more expensive (yes, heinz baked beans are in the european aisle), i still had to buy it. i like to top mine with shredded cheddar & HP brown sauce if i’m eating it as a lunch or dinner, but runny egg if i’m having it as a breakfast food 😋 yum

Another simple staple is a crisp sandwich!! 2 slices of buttered white bread, dump a packet of cheese and onion flavour crisps (chips to the Americans. Maybe Lays cheese and onion flavour). Top with the other slice of buttered bread (butter side in just like a sandwich & use plenty of butter). Squish down and cut in 2 or 4 and enjoy. I LOVEEE crisp sandwiches, such a childhood favourite. I'm from Northern Ireland btw. 💖💖

Variations: Add cheese Use heinz canned baked beans and sausages Season the beans with soy sauce or Marmite or Bovril or Worcestershire Sauce Make "better beans": 1) put beans on stove, add butter and salt (or one of the above), medium heat 2) start reducing the sauce and letting it stick a little to the pan. 3) once it's thickened to your liking, clap a lid on it, torn off the heat move it off the heat. 4) wait 2 minutes for the steam to release the beans from the bottom, give it a stir and serve on well browned well buttered toast.

This comments late but I’m a Brit and know about beans on toast. So.... Get the same very thick sliced white bread, a good salted butter. Toast the bread till it’s a light to medium golden all over add the butter to top side. Add extra mature cheddar grated all over the toast. Put it under a bit to close to heat, grill at light/medium heat, half way as cheese starts to bubble add splashes of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce too cheese topping then return under the grill till the cheese has bubbled and formed a light golden crisp. Place on plate and cover with piping hot cooked Heinz Baked beans. Remember never boil the beans as they cook it ruins the flavour just cook for 2-3minutes in a microwave at 800watt power and stir for 20 seconds halfway through. On a hob medium-low heat for 3 minutes stirring occasionally as bubbles start to form until beans feel softer and sauce has slightly thickened. Add tobacco or sriracha if you like spice. And Enjoy 🤤

You did it better than buzzfeed with their cold beans on untoasted bread I will give you that. Heinz is an ok brand for beans on toast but Branston is the superior brand. My only advice for the future is the beans turn out better cooked on a hob, James May puts it best when he said “a bean boiled is a bean spoiled.”

There r so many ways to pimp up the standard beans on toast - me personally, I add some chopped onion & chopped red pepper into the beans before heating, and on to the buttered toast I add a sliced tomato & mature cheddar cheese (& S&P). Pour the bean mix on to the prepared toast, then finish off with a squirt of brown sauce & a squirt of mayonnaise over the top. The fried egg addition works great as well, if you can be bothered. Heinz aren't the best btw, IMO...they're still very decent, but Branston baked beans are my favourite

Heinz beans is really the way to do it. One or two Sunny side up eggs, good bacon (I prefer American style crispy bacon) and some hot sauce with some good old white toast. Mighty fine
