Hi guys! this is a type of video I have never tried before so let me know what you think! Sims 2 modders are always creating incredible free mods, and Fall 2023 has been no exception! Today we are going to spend some time with a family in my test hood and try a bunch of awesome new mods: the planting overhaul, real animated farm animals, functional piggy banks, and a new experimental mod from LazyDuchess! I try my best but in typical me fashion I get distracted or make mistakes and there's some classic sims 2 chaos. I try to troubleshoot any errors I make so that hopefully we can all learn from them! Hi guys! I have never made a video like this before so there was definitely a learning curve! I'm sorry its so long, if I make a video like this in the future maybe I will cover less mods at once, but I hope you still enjoy this video. I also decided to leave in my flops and fails because they helped me figure out how things work and hopefully other people could benefit from seeing how I fixed the issues I had. Hi, Great content thanks for sharing. I attempted to stick some of these in my game and never managed to get any of them to work right... when you were trialing these, did you have all your other mods in, or Just them exclusively?

@@redknight3439 hi! i put them in my normal downloads folder that contains all my other mods! There are some conflicts listed on the gardening mod especially, maybe there is a conflicting mod you forgot to remove?

@@antisocialbunbun I took everything out and put just that in and still would not work, so in the end just gave up, then again... I have a LOT of custom content in my sims game, that I am not willing to give up just to have a few extra plants or to become a farmer... it would be nice to have had but not at the expense of all my other mods. So this brings me to the question of: have you thought bout a set of instructional vids where you go through, in depth through the process of HOW to get these to work properly, I am Ref the ones that need 5 to 10 other mods to function correctly? The DL section was not all that clear on some of the dl sites whats actually needed etc

@@redknight3439 I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with it! It’s hard for me to know what would work for someone else because we all have different mods and cc and game setups. When a mod is giving me trouble and I can’t get it to work I will usually try a couple different things. The modder picknmix sims has two programs: “The Hack Conflict Detection Utility” and “What Caused This?” These can scan your download folder or your game error logs and tell you any conflicts you have. Also (just checking) not sure if you are playing on PC or using the Ultimate Collection, but for instance if you are using super collection on Mac I am not sure if everything in this video works (it’s been a few months since I installed these). It can definitely be tricky to keep track of all the mods that other ones require. I would make extra sure that you downloaded “easy inventory check” and “smarter ep check.” I linked them both in the description of this video and I think they were the only mods that weren’t linked by some of the mod creators who required them. Apologies if that’s not helpful, but it’s all I can think of ❤️

Look into the sun and moon mods! Wonderful farming and production of a lot of things. Chandles, salted fish, bathtubs, wine and landry!

Ooh yes I’m always intrigued by those! In my story series my witch actually has the sun&moon tea growing/making set on her lot but I’ve never really used it much! 🙈 the great sims 2 channel Stories & Strategy is doing an apocalyptic bacc and using lots of sun&moon mods and they are so cool!

Omg the giant baby sitting in his crib reading the newspaper 💀This was such a great video - I really appreciate that you walk through the troubleshooting completely without editing out any of the mishaps, that really shows that you are actually looking into the mods in depth and are giving your honest opinions ⭐It also gave you the opportunity to give tips on how to solve those issues, and again, I really appreciate you going into such detail and doing that. Some of these mods appear very comlex, but you managed to make them seem easy and straightforward, so huge kudos for that ❤I'd love seeing more of these kinds of videos if you like making them, you're great at it!

Loved this! It was even fun for mods I’m not personally interested in having in my game at this point. And actually I hadn’t heard of that piggy bank mod but that’s the one I probably will get! I can picture fortune Sims making sure their kids have one of those, or since I play with Sophie the puffin’s aspirations (with subtypes for each) I could have the strict parent Family types give their kids really stingy chore allowances since they would think it’s just their responsibilities anyways 😆 sooo many possibilities in my head!

Ooh I love that idea about strict parents and stingy allowances! I think it’s so cool that you can put the piggy bank in their inventory-teens could save up for college and bring it with them! I love that a tiny new object for the game can automatically give us so many ideas! 🥰

Thank you so much for this video! Funnily enough I've been looking for a piggy bank type mod for the LONGEST time (basically just the opposite of the loan jar) so my sims can "pay" for using certain services when they visit community lots. I have a lodge restaurant with an axe-throwing area and didn't want to have to charge sims to enter the restaurant but wanted them to pay extra for the axe throwing if they choose to do that after dinner.

I was very excited about this new video format but also a tiny bit sad because I thought it meant no wacky Sims 2 gameplay. I could not have been more wrong. Giant babies, regular-sized surprise ACR babies, random fires, rows of pee, upended garbage, and the social worker, this video had it all. While at the same time having useful info about the newest mod releases. I had already downloaded the farm animals, piggy bank, and tombstone mod as they were released. But I didn’t get the plant overhaul because it was so big and overwhelming, so I’m really happy it was included in this video. Seeing you installing it and trying it out in-game makes it way less intimidating. Even though I’d already installed the other three mods, I still watched the whole video because it was so entertaining. I’m really glad I did because I didn’t know about the invisible fur / markings trick. So many sims help videos are quite dry and to the point (which can also be all right if you’re just looking for a quick answer). But I actually prefer this format a lot more where you also showed things that went wrong or not according to plan. And also that you showed how you checked the error log and then googled it and found patches. This made it feel way more organic. Also the struggle with remembering mod descriptions was so relatable. It happened to me so often that I read something and immediately forgot and then wondered why the mod wasn’t working like it should. The game really seems to have it out for you when it comes to adopting strays. Every time you try to befriend a stray with the goal of adopting it, the game starts a fire that scares the stray away. First, it happened with Buffy at Jonathan’s house and now the same thing again with Digit. And also, I really love the idea of Grim and his army of llamas!

I’m so happy you liked the format too, I was on the fence and didn’t know if I was doing it well sometimes 😂 but in the end I decided to just go with it, so I’m so glad that people are liking it! I loved this video! It was super fun and interesting to see you go through all the mods. I for sure want to check out the gardening overhaul because that looks super fun and watching you play around with it has inspired me to want to make a sim who’s a farmer lol. Hi, thanks for being here! 😁 I'm not sure if you've seen it but acottonsock has a great, recent (last year i think) video called "THE ULTIMATE SIMS 2 VISUAL GUIDE" and she goes over terrain defaults, using reshade, lighting mods and more! It's super helpful, and I use most of the things she teaches about in my videos, like reshade and the maxis match lighting mod. I also use many texture default replacements by cluedosims on tumblr for the furniture so that they look more smooth and match more! But if there's anything she doesn't cover in it that you want me to go over please let me know!

You would never see me tending a plant in real life, but in the Sims 2, I love playing with gardening and planting. The only way I enjoy playing with more than one sim at a time is if I have a second sim as the carer for the plants in the household. These mods seems amazing. And I'm def going to install them! A bit sad they're a bit harder to install. I loved the video, will binge watch some more for a few hours :P

Hiiii! I'm the creator of the piggy bank, and I was just summoned here by someone else who had seen your video... thank you so much for covering my creation, and I'm glad you enjoy it! Now your video already covered my mod really well, but there are a few details I'd like to explain a little bit: 29:17 In the Traits version, only Sims with these three Traits will have a chance to lose all money, so sloppy Sims are not endangered. That's only for the Extended version. 34:30 I had to think outside the box a little when setting this up. When a Sim is Evil, Mean-Spirited or Kleptomaniac, the "Should I donate?" autonomy lets them proceed at first but then they're routed to that 10% random roll. If it fails, it cancels the interaction (that's why your Sim was standing around idling for a very long time, because they kept trying to donate but it kept failing). If it succeeds, then they proceed to steal the piggy bank. 34:40 Yup - if they run, it's too late. Since you have sped up the game while you waited, you didn't see it, but they actually look around to check if someone's watching before they then grab the piggy bank. If you - or a Sim, or a pet by themselves - catches them in the act, they will sigh, put it down again, and give up. Or, of course, you could have a Sim with one of the traits that prevents piggy bank theft in your household, such as Eccentric or Perceptive. :D But those really are just small things in the grand scope of your video. Thank you again for bringing attention to my mod creations!

I saw her looking around sneaky before stealing it when editing it and I love that detail, I should have pointed it out in my voiceover! I am excited to witness it again when I'm not on 3x speed (luckily I have a lot of sims with the evil trait tbh! lol). thank you, i'm so happy you enjoyed the video! 😁 the giant baby is an outfit by bootsbrisket on mod the sims, so he is actually an adult sim wearing the outfit. I used honeywell's invisible loveseat omsp inside the crib so that when he sits on the invisible loveseat it looks like he is inside his crib! Might be an odd comment but I figured I'd say something anyways- my mom and I both watched this video and we really enjoyed it, it went by so quickly! Weird question I got my ultimate collection from origin way back when, so when I go to my program files there’s an origin folder and then sims UC. Obviously I noticed your UC is just in the program files. Would it be safe for me to move my UC to program files from the origin games folder?

do you know if they made mods for turn-on and turn-off to put on your teenager when you create a teenage or when you have a baby and when it come to be a teenage?

Hi! To change their turn ons you mean? When they age up they should have an item called “renew-you porta chug” in their inventory. If they drink that then you can change their turn ons and turn offs! You don’t need a mod it comes with the game, if your sim doesn’t have one in their inventory for some reason i thiiink maybe a witch can make them?

hi, ts2hook is a tool lazyduchess used to develop the tombstone bio mod but i do not think that it is fully released yet! in the video description there is a link to lazyduchess' tumblr and modthesims uploads so you can keep track of what they are working on if you want to see when ts2hook releases :)

why your water inside lot looks black?

I use voille's pond and sea water overhaul mod from mod the sims! I forgot to put a pool tile on the lot and there is a graphic glitch where the neighborhood water will be black on each lot when you load it unless you place a hidden pool tile on your lot!
