We have made it to Coron Palawan! And in this video we explore Coron Town Proper and venture out for some delicious and daring street food! Food options we have never ever tried before and best believe we did NOT expect this!
We started off light with a potato spring roll… and then things got interesting!
We were drawn in by the smell of an ongoing BBQ from a lovely couple who welcomed us to try out what they were cooking! Pork INTESTINE and LIVER… we have never eaten these before but since we are here in the Philippines, we couldn’t say no! Combined with a spicy vinegar and sweet vinegar… to our complete surprise, it was one of the tastiest things we have tried here in the Philippines! WOW! Really delicious… something we have never tried left us wanting more! Especially the intestine! 😬 We try out some Filipino bread (Pandesal) which were only 2 pesos each, they were seasoned to perfection and we could have eaten maybe 20 each if we went back for more! We try out some Spanish bread and a giant purple cookie before we were completely distracted by the smell of Lechon! The perfectly grilled chicken had us almost salivating, we had to try this Filipino delicacy for ourselves and highly recommend it when you visit the Philippines, definitely 10/10!! Lemon and chilli really adding the extra burst of flavour!
Last but not least, the most surprising of all was the Filipino Ice cream! (Halo Halo)Filled with ice cream, shaved ice, beans, corn, coconut, jelly and so much more!
Items we tried:
Potato Springroll: 10 Pesos
Coffee: 120 Pesos each
ISAW (Port intestine, pork liver: 15 pesos each
Pandesal: 2 Pesos each
Spanish Bread and purple cookie: 5 pesos each
Lechon: Grilled Chicken: 150 Pesos
Halo Halo: 95 Pesos
We really loved exploring Coron for the first day and cannot wait to explore more! We took the Montenegro Ferry which cost us 2650 Pesos each - a little expensive in our opinions but it was the best option for us!
To book the ferry you need to go to the Montenegro office to buy your ticket, their online service isn't available at this time.
If you enjoyed us trying Filipino street food, please remember to subscribe and we shall see you on the next adventure! :)

What's great about travelling in the Philippines is that Filipinos speak English. I've travelled to many countries & famous cities where finding someone who speaks English is a challenge. In the Philippines, even the poor people can somehow speak English.

And top of speaking good english, Filipinos are particular with proper spelling. In gradeschool and even in highschool and more in college (for it is proper education), most teachers would grade test papers- wrong spelling is wrong to test question answers.

Try Isaw (chicken intestine) and other streetfoods here in the PH, the major thing that you have to consider when taking one is dipping it in a vinegar sauce or any sauce offered just don't try it without sauce hence why others don't appreciate it like the Balut wherein it is very necessary to put salt and vinegar before sipping its juice and as well as putting into solid parts before taking a bite and that will show the meaning of combination. Thank you so much hope you will visit PH soon and will enjoy your trip here ❤🇵🇭

Pan de sal, yes! You cannot say you've had a compleat Philippine experience if you haven't had the Filipino staple bread. Pan de sal is life. Bring some back, get mini tubs of butter and spread it on heated pan de sal or make a lechon manok sandwich for a full-on Pinoy bite. (Best enjoyed with black coffee.) Plain pan de sal is the OG; with moringa is a later iteration and the ube version became more popular during lockdown, believe it or not. You also must have been told that to "halo" means to mix, therefore, to "halo halo" is...what else: to "mix mix" your halo halo well to get the most out of the blend of ingredients. *yum*
@rv_PH
@rv_PH 2 жыл бұрын
@@eduardochavacano True, the ingredients and process to baking pan de sal as we know it, those from the nighborhood panaderias, is basic, as is basic bread elsewhere. Those sold packed in groceries are a diferent stripe, if I may say so, and nowhere near the league of the newly baked ones at dawn or mid-afternoon just around the corner. BY "life" I mean that in a personal way, not caring so much for "tasty" (Pinoy version of the American sliced loaf) or other local bread variants. Neither did I mean to demote rice as "life" being that we are not a wheat-producing territory ro begin with. When I travel around the country for work or pleasure, I always look for the nearest (sometimes the only) bakery in town early morning to look for pan de sal (the texture and taste does vary per locality--some too sweet lacking "sal" (salt) it almost should be called "pan de dulce;" others a bit sour, or dry, etc., the ones in Batangas and some towns in Pampanga being what I prefer most). The upgraded and branded 24/7 bakeries have, for me, been a go-to since the lockdown. Otherwise, I am and will always be in support of the local community bakers and bakeries as much as possible. Cheers.

Out of any vlogger out there today, you guys are doing the best job of taking your viewers on an unplanned adventure. Many of the great surprises one gets along Philippine streets come from hole in the walls that sell delectable food items that are nothing like anything else in the world. Or, from street vendors that peddle little surprises that Filipinos rely on for quick fixes. This form of foodie adventure is the best way to discover and understand Filipino street food culture. The hipified versions are much too exotic and expensive if a local were to be asked.

Shev & Dev, that Pandesal bread is like tasty bread, baguette, you can have sandwich spread, liver spread, jams, fried eggs, bacon, ham, etc inside it. or just dip it in hot Coffee or hot Choco when you wake up in the morning. that bread is usually serve in the morning, you dont normally see it in the afternoon. that’s when those sweet breads come in for the afternoon snack. just fyi.

Something I learned when eating street foods. As a social rule, double dipping skewers in the sauce is a very big no no for hygiene reasons. You dip it once and thats it. Many stalls use containers where you squeeze the sauce onto the food and no dipping. Filipinos are very polite to foreigners though, they will let you bend the rules as a courtesy. But still, hygiene. No double dipping

This is the first time seeing a proper food vlog in Coron. Good to see that proper hygiene and packaging are being followed, except for the BBQ sauce dipping. Yeah, no double dipping please, but that is how you experience street food galore. Kudos to your efforts in uploading excellent videos, cheers!

To eat halo-halo, you need to mix first so that the flavors/ingredients will be mixed together. Halo-halo means Mix-mix in English😊 Maybe you need to try lechon baboy (baboy means pork)

Well another meaning of halo halo is "variety" not "mix mix". As a matter of fact, "mix mix", is not a word in the English vocabulary . The original meaning of halo halo is "variety". It's evident in the variety of ingredients used in the dessert. Over time, people just invented the "mix mix" which again is not and never will be a word.

this is my very first time to see a food vlog in Coron. and it's great. Pan =bread, pan de sal = salted bread. Spanish bread is common in all cities in the PH. Ube is also common BUT ube jam in my city Baguio, is Gold especially made from Good Shepherd. Halo Halo means, (v) to mix, (n) mixture of different things. how to mix, ask the locals, they know better. 🙂
@athenstar10
@athenstar10 2 жыл бұрын
FYI: As a general rule on street foods in the Philippines, just dip the food once for sanitary purposes. Most vendors in the cities will provide a plastic cup or paper plate where you have your own sauce and you can dip unlimited times.
@luna3962

Halo-Halo is “to mix” dessert, you have to mix it first before digging in the sweet beans & fruits. dig on the sides to minimize dripping, just let the center Ice cream sink in as you eat & always mix as you dig. its hard to eat it while standing, rest it on table or surface to mix.
