For Non flexible people = Stick to streches and don't force your body to do splits right away , it hurts bad , I've been doing yoga since 8 months and I still can't do splits without a block , so work with patience..

Gymnast here. If you’re not very flexible and you wanna be able to do the splits, you need to be stretching for like an hour every single day and maybe after a year or so you’ll be close. Some people are just naturally flexible, some people aren’t. Usually people that can do the splits grew up doing gymnastics or dance where they were stretching hard every single day
@CaptainAMAZINGGG7 ай бұрын
So incorrect. About flexible people, and also how to be flexible. Yes I saw you said you're a gymnast. The yoga world is probably very different. 🤷♀️ To be flexible, i did small bursts, throughout the day, as well as my regular yoga practice. Which was 15 mins at least once a day, esp if I was doing something else as well, or sometimes yoga twice (morning and night). It was the stretches throughout the day that were particularly helpful. I am now basically a pretzel. I chose this method intuitively, because doing anything for long periods of time can feel tedious and I will lose interest. But if I do little bits through the day, it is then just how I roll 🤷♀️ Also, diet can have a massive impact. When I am fasting, I am effortlessly 25% more flexible, at the very least. If I drink green juice, have fruit, don't eat much cooked food, I remain extra flexible without trying much, and this is when doing my practice gets the best results, which can carry on through into days when I'm eating more cooked things.. We are all naturally flexible. We lose it, after childhood, if we haven't remained our natural flexible selves from living a lifestyle that is more unnatural. I could barely move, and was in pain 80% of the time. I changed my lifestyle, I did some yoga, CONSISTENTLY, as well as pilates. But never long amounts of it. I feel like there's a lot of forcefulness in gymnastics and it goes against what is natural and effortless, and you can honestly just be easy about things, and ease into things, relax into things, just be consistent, and progress is inevitable, and can be super swift unless you force and potentially backtrack from doing too much too soon. It took me 3 months to do the splits and maybe 5 months, to tie myself into a knot 😂 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

Not at all. I grew up doing ballet and cheerleading and never had my splits really and I learned how to do them at almost 30! I am not naturally flexible!

If you are stretching for an hour a day with a focus of being able to do the splits, it should not take you a year. That's insane. And if it does take you a year, it's because you're not letting your body recover between workouts; you're in a constant state of inflammation and not building new muscle tissue. You're just adding damage to damage. Overtraining is the noobs worst enemy.

To kind of break this down muscles you should be using for front splits or your hip flexors your hamstrings and your hip abductors.... Good exercises include lunges like the ones shown here pigeon pose a jazz split or half split and any type of forward fold or leg hold that's going to stretch out the hamstrings. Now for middle splits you want stretches like frog pose, happy baby, wide legged child's pose and pancake stretches really anything to open the groin and inner thighs as well as hip abductor muscles also remember when trying for middle splits to turn out your legs😊

2 things! 1. You can always do these reclined (think pigeon on your back, happy baby, and reclined splits - you can use a strap). 2.
