In this weeks video I'm going to be taking a look at Flory models dark dirt weathering wash.
This is a clay based weathering wash that can be reactivated at any time until sealed, using water. The idea with this stuff is to slap it on and rub it off to give the model a streaking grim effect
As this is my first time using the wash figured be good to make a video about it to see how easy or hard the stuff is to use
my first impressions of this wash are good, though the first coat does look a little drastic, the stuff can be tricky to get off from hard to reach corners and textures but over all I really like the look that this product leaves behind. Even though I used a paint brush to apply my paint the effect still works really well but I imagine that this would give a better finish for models painted using an airbrush.
I found after using it for a bit that the stuff was easier to use using a wet paint burhs rather than tissue or a bit of cloth, but as the stuff requires a lot of rubbing of a model wasn't great for tiny stuck on details. Though I think a lot of this was down to my own heavy handedness. I think though on a smoother model(the OV-10A Bronco was not an idea first candidate for using this stuff) that the effect would be better and easier to use
I think this stuff certainly has a place in my weathering arsenal though and I will be using it on more models in future
