I would have to check again to be sure, but I think they both use the same technique to capture a signal, so it would probably be at least a version humans could listen to. I actually plan on putting these on an engine as well as setting up a way to listen to a knock sensor in basically this same way. I already have a knock sensor that I purchased solely for this idea. Should be fun, but that's a far off project!

A wireless version would be way more manageable! Now that you mention it, an ideal version for me would be a bunch of these microphones all set up wirelessly and selectable from inside the cabin. Definitely a big project, but doable if there's an easy Bluetooth transmitter that's small enough.
