KOKONI with a filament: www.kokoni3d.com/collections/...
Original Price: £242
Discount: 10% OFF with code LOVEKOKONI
KOKONI filaments are sold singly because they are all non-toxic materials. Since the KOKONI product audience is aimed at pure novices who may not have the ability to replace the filament on their own, the current filament model can be replaced with one click, which is very convenient. But for those who have the ability to replace the filament, they can replace it yourself by unscrewing just a few screws, which is economical and environmentally friendly.

3D printers are becoming cheaper all the time. Computer driven 3D printers are very versatile and you can find a lot of interesting files online. I am investigating getting one, but I have more than enough to do right now. Maybe a retirement venture, keep great videos coming.

Most 3D printers need a data file with .stl at the end. The CAD file for your switch would probably need to be as such. Maybe the print from photo function in the app uses something different. Perseverance might pay back. xx

I can see this to be useful for someone that has a hobby with a home foundry. This could print objects to be used as a mold for the sand casting. But I don't see it doing much more than just a hobby level though.

This was very interesting, Your bust came out very well, although we could not see the surface texture which I think lets this process down, I have seen them looking like a pile of melted beads, this size of the object to be copied could be a problem with this system, but for reproducing things like irreplaceable knobs for vintage machines it could be just the job, the cost of the "filament" could also be a deal breaker. Well done video but I am not a fan of any machine that requires me to use my phone to control it. If I really need a phone to operate one, I think a cheap "burner" phone would be the way to go to protect all the stuff on my phone. I bet you could find a 3D printer that would make the part you are looking for or maybe one of your viewers could print one for you.
@bikerstuff2

I agree that a phone isn't a good tool to control a product like that, but I disagree with your reasoning.

Hi Dana, I can see from the comments, I am not the only one who has never seen a 3D printer before. It looks like a small microwave oven!, Is the thing you call a filament the same as a printer ink cartridge but containing the raw materials or powder? How does it know what to create? Is it all based on templates from the menu on the phone? This techie stuff confuses me but I put it down to age!

The white box on the back contains a roll of plastic line that gets melted into the shape the software tells it to.

I know I'm not Dana, but ... The filament is like weedeater line, only made out of PLA plastic (or abs or nylon or...). The printer acts like a computer controlled hot glue gun, where the plastic is heated to just below melting with a hot nozzle and laid down one layer at a time. This thing here is nothing but a toy locked to their own designs. For most all other 3d printers, you load a model (created with a CAD or graphics design program or downloaded from one of many websites) into what is called a slicer program. This takes the model and slices it, one layer at a time, and converts that into the movement commands that the printer understands. You'd be amazed what you can do with a real 3d printer. I use several in my small engine shop all the time to create repair parts you can't even buy.

@@rebeltaz123 Thank you for the explanation. I have heard of 3D printers and what you say goes a long way to explaining it. I have no need for such a gadget but realise it may be important in some applications. Between you and Dana, I sort of understand!
