As an Australian the American concept of biscuits confuses the heck outta me because to us biscuits are what you call cookies so the idea of putting gravy on them is just ... no. :) (Also the 'gravy' that goes on your 'biscuits' - what is in that? No gravy I've ever had has ever been that colour!)

Long Appreciation Post: My husband and I love Safiya and Tyler's livestreams! (Because of life, we are usually watching the streams after they are over- but one of these days you'll see us sliding in during an actual LIVE livestream...) We were talking last night about how simultaneously refreshing and comforting Safiya and Tyler are in their streams and just their content in general. Lately we both have felt like we are being bombarded with negative media constantly, (negative in content, language, and just general attitudes of creators) and have just really felt so worn down by a lot of the media we have followed. Honestly, livestreams give me anxiety. I think it's because sometimes it's like the feeling of inviting someone over to my apartment, but I don't know if I am going to witness them trash everything I love, talk about topics that make me feel uncomfortable and also almost exclusively use profanity in front of my child and cats before then having to ask them to leave. So normally I avoid livestreams, even though I love the idea of experiencing something fun along with other people at the same time. Enter Tyler and Safiya - two people who are fun, love each other and their cat, love learning/trying new things and sharing their experiences with us, and are also fellow nerds for Colonial Williamsburg. (ngl I have had aspirations of Mixed-up-Files-of-Mrs.-Basil-E-Frankweiler-ing that place...) It's like having friends over to our apartment that I can genuinely enjoy being around and listening to, who are both intelligent and thoughtful, and don't hose me down with inappropriate topics and profanity that I don't want my daughter (or cats) repeating. So all that to say, thank you guys for making the wholesome content I've been searching for, and letting us hang out and experience new things with you. You guys always make my day.

At the the people complaining about how long these videos are - this is just the way live streaming works. It's not an edited video, it's a live stream y'all! It's generally supposed to be long because it's meant to prioritize hanging out and immediate engagement with an audience. Whereas an edited video is more structured and point driven. Live streams are usually close to or over an hour and are more casual in nature. That's just the format. Saf and Tyler may start making shorter edits if enough people want them but presumably most people here understand and like the format enough to understand why the videos are over an hour long. There are probably a lot of people over here from their main channel who prefer their usual very edited video-essay esque style, so maybe that's where the confusion. If you're new to livestreams, this is the way they generally work.

I don't know if there's any way you can see this comment, but I wanted to suggest something for Crusty's breath. My senior kitty had the worst breath, and I thought it was just normal. Turns out she had several rotten teeth that were really bothering her. Once we had those removed (she's toothless now), her breath smells like nothing. She's also a lot more energetic now, and eats better. The surgery part is scary (especially on a senior cat), but their quality of life improves

Can also be their food, I kept bugging my vet to check my dogs teeth because both of them just reeked, vet kept telling me their teeth are fine. Bought a new kibble that was grain free and the difference was notable within days, turns out the grains can ferment and rot in their stomach and that is what you're smelling.

Since they’re in NC now, there is an AMAZING veterinary dentist at Westside Animal Hospital in Durham, named Dr. Hoover. I drive my two geriatric dogs to him all the way from Southern Pines, and he’s operated on both of their mouths. He’s performed root canals and complicated extractions on them. He’s literally one of the very best in the entire country at what he does, and he’s right in their backyard now that they’re in Raleigh. If Crusty needs any dental care, I highly recommend Dr. Hoover!!!

If they do this, they should go to at least three different locations at the same time to order them so they’re not forcing one location to make 40 milkshakes. If they’re located near downtown, there are 3 within 12-15 minutes. They put the actual, whole ingredients (e.g., a banana or piece of cheesecake) into the shakes so although they’re quick at making them, efficiency can only be so good. Also YALL. @blue I love in the southern US and biscuits and gravy is a staple meal lol. I believe it originated in southern appalachia. And I think... If I remember correctly that is. That the biscuits back in the day were rough and harder and adding the gravy softened them up making them more palatable. It was a poor man's meal because the ingredients were cheap. I'm not a huge fan of it personally. But in Louisiana where I grew up we would eat tomatoe gravy and biscuits.. Now that is good stuff lol. As someone who isn't an NC native (moved from MD in 2005), I went through this all myself and its so fun to see it from someone else's perspective! The Cheerwine is my favorite reaction. Its mine and my husband's favorite soda. I went to college in Salisbury, where its from, and they handed out cans of it to us as Freshmen when we waited in line for our room keys and IDs. I fell in love with it immediately. We love it so much we used glass bottles of it to toast with at our wedding instead of champagne! So glad you enjoyed it! They also have a Cheerwine festival in Salisbury every year now, and you can get all kinds of merch, Cheerwine flavored foods (popcorn, cupcakes, etc) and Cheerwine flavored beers and hard cider! Its a fun time.

I’m British and gravy to us is meaty and brown often over roast dinners or pies. The white gravy looks more like white sauce which is flour and milk mostly often adding cheese to make cauliflower cheese so is it similar?

@@JLoDucky yep: english name should be bechamel, I guess. In french/italian is besciamel/besciamella. Flour, butter, milk, salt, pepper (here in Italy, a hint of nutmeg, too) And yes, goes over lasagna, vegetables, or everything goes on a oven. American take on it may use sausage grease, bacon grease or else is left in the pan friying meat to substitute butter, but all in all it's animal fat and flour - the grease may carry a bit more flavor than plain straight butter.

@@fabiogalletti8616 it is still essentially gravy. Sausage gravy uses the grease from sausage flour and milk. Some Do use butter as the fatb if not using sausage. Typically with sausage as it doesn't create a ton of grease, you do usually need a tad bit of butter. Also in the south we thicken other gravy with flour as well vs just the meat juices.

@@gabriellevalentino7319 yep, it's the same principle. It's just kinda lost in translation - we did ~ the same under a different name.
