I love this product! The hold is adjustable. More water is less hold if used sparingly. I've also recently started doing my W&G in the shower and it changed everything for me 😍

I tried this a while ago and I didn’t like it and tossed it after one use. My hair felt dry and crispy even with a leave-in which surprised me because I was expecting it to feel more moisturized because of the honey. I also don’t like the super defined ramen noodle look. I get some people want to save time and extend the style for longer periods of time but depending on the environment, type of products, and the condition of the hair trying to extend a style for the most days possible with products designed to hold the hair is a recipe for overly dry hair that can lead to breakage. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts.

Bee girl was the first product that i used that gave me a week in my wash n go after my transition period. it got better as the days went. Your hair looks fantastic!

Ok, so I watched both of your bee girl videos and almost didn't use the rest of my bee girl. I was watching an Latoya Ebony video where she had Anthony Dickey on her channel which was her 2nd part from years ago. Then went back and watched the 1st video, and got some inspiration. I followed his direction and used only the bee girl with no leave in and my hair came out great. There was a cast, but it was not super hard. I did everything in the shower, even went through my hair in the shower, and rubbed the custard in my hands before applying. I was out the shower in about 45 mimutes. It came out great.

Hello! Your hair looked great! I liked the look of both sides. The definition was awesome as well as the fullness. It held up beautifully throughout the days as well. It must not have felt though you said as good as it looks. Thank you for sharing this combination of products!

Thank you for giving this product a second chance. This product would probably work well for me because where I live is very humid weather during the summer months and could benefit from the extra crunch. But I do understand. With a hard crunch and hold, there can be less versatility, and can be harder to manage as well. Appreciate this video. I do use both the honey and the doux mousse, but pair them both with the big poppa gel. I have not tried the custard yet, I think because it said to diffuse or sit under a hooded dryer and I normally let my hair air dry. Thank you so much for the valuable info.

Your hair looked good on each day to me. I’m going to try one of their mousses next week when I wash my hair. Then week after that I wanna try the Treluxe Mousse with the primer. I’ll let you know my thoughts on the products when I used them.

However, I want my hair with a hold and moisture. So, I went back to my old faithful: The Mane Choice Tropical Moringa, and Pureology Leave in. I agree that hold is nice, but if it is not moisturized then what's the point. I need both so this is a NO for me. I love the Tropical Moringa gel; it's been a staple for a while now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 💛

I only use spray leave-ins with anything from The Doux if I want hold. Edit: it also did great with the 808 base gel-I still used a spray leave-in before putting that on. I use a lot of water to spread both the leave-in and base. No water with the custard.

A leave-in definitely helps with this one. I added a very light spray leave-in, followed with avocado oil, then the custard. Otherwise, it was super crunchy!

I used this with the double butter cream from AsiAm and still got super hold. They need to change their marketing for this stuff cause it’s not a soft hold one bit

Hey Rae! ❤ a subbie sent me this custard and I’m scared to use it lol. I do like crunch but I don’t want my hair stuck to my scalp for a week. I thought your results look pretty but I totally understand not being in love with it. I’ll have to play around to find a leave in to work with it since I don’t have the honey hydrate.

Yea, imma go ahead and send mine back while my return window is still open. Tried with several leave ins, sandwiched between a foam and every time my hair feels so dreadful and dry. My hair needed a dc after rinsing out. Credit where credit is due, the definition was on point and lasted the entire week.

I gave away both jars of this custard…used on soaking wet hair and sprayed my hair down after I finished and my hair was still crunchy and dry looking. This needs to be reformulated

I love both products, they work best on soaking wet hair though or crunch city for me. Now you hair did look good, especially the in shower application side. But i agree i don't like the feel of the custard. Have you tried Pattern's Custard? I don't like the scent, but it looks and feels good in the hair

That Bee Girl Gel is only good for slick buns and updos. That stuff just has my hair so dry feeling . Just don’t like using it as a wash n go. Also thanks for the tips of the application of all your products. I have a section that I just don’t want to let go and the way you emulsify in your hands has been a game changer for me. Hi Rae quick question when is using a humectant like honey okay like during the winter or summer months? I have the Honey Hydrate but have not used it. I guess I need to figure out first if my hair likes it right? Yes your hair looks better this time and held up better with the leave in but I totally understand the coating is a no.

Humectants draw moisture from the air to the hair to help keep it moisturized. So with that said, if there is no moisture in the air, then the humectant will draw the moisture from the hair and that's why the hair sometimes feels dry in colder or dryer climates. And, it will also depend on where the humectants fall in the ingredient list. So, it is up to you to know your climate and how humectants will work within it. Your hair may like honey better than glycerin or vice versa. So you have to see what works for your hair in your climate and go from there. Hope that helps a little. Thanks for tuning in.

That’s a great question. I’d like to know if the Honey Hydrate’s formula change resulted in a performance change, too. The first few ingredients of the OLD old formula are honey, olive fruit oil, castor seed oil, aloe leaf juice, etc. The company reformulated 2-3 years ago, but continued selling the newer version in the same style of bottle, which is the style that you have. The newest bottle style contains their third formulation, which occurred in the last year or so. I loved the OLD old formula so much (mainly for protective styles) that I drove around to all the CVSs within 30 minutes of me just to find it before they went extinct. I’m not trying to go through that again in this lifetime lol, so I’m hoping that the newer formula works just as good. Anyhoo, thanks for sharing!

I will try it this weekend but in twistouts. I have the old formula too and I like it. It works better on soaking wet hair. The CEO said to use it on slacking wet hair.

I had my for a while finally used it I love the hold I hate i have to use my defineing brush I used adwoa baomint leave in I tried damp & soaking wet hair in &out shower still had to use my brush only got 3 uses last me 5-7 days love my results but hated using brush and it does better on soaking wet hair so am on the fence damp looks like a poo pack of noddles soaking wet curls formed

It sucks you didn't care for your hair. But you know your hair best. I actually use this product regularly, I really like it. I have a lot of leave ins I need to use up, so this wash day I used the TGIN green tea leave in, uncle Funky's daughter gel, topped with the custard and got a good set.

I'm glad you found a combo that works for you. A lot of people mentioned the UFD under the custard but I don't care for the UFD either so I'm going to stick with my faves. This custard has great hold, but the moisture is lacking and I don't really want to layer a whole lot of things just to make it work. Thanks for sharing your combo and for tuning in.💛

I think it soaked in pretty good, but whether it's moisturizing is another story. I need to try it with other products to see, because with this custard my hair still felt dry.

I'm curious: why is the custard and foam used together? The Doux products are formulated to stand independently, except for the 808 base gel. When my hair is hydrated, the custard applies smoothly. Perhaps a third time would be a charm with a leave-in that does not include honey and the custard. Both combinations you tried looked great.

There won't be a third time because I just don't like how the custard makes my hair feel. I do have the 808 and will be trying it a little later. To answer your question about the custard and foam, my audience asked for that combo so I did it. They also asked for the mousse def and big poppa together so that will be coming soon. The Doux creator answered these questions in a reel on her Instagram. She says that ant combo of choice would work for her products. She does also say that they are stand alone but can be paired depending on your styling preference

I have a video where I used the Crazy Sexy Curl mouse on my nephew's braids and it made his braids soft but after a few days his scalp was flakey. Not sure about the formula, but I have 4b/c hair and it’s not really moisturizing to me. I may need to add more water when using it on my high porosity hair 😅We’re here for the middle part ❤

If you watched my two videos on this custard, you would know that I do not care for this custard because it is drying and has a very hard hold. So, if you like your twists to be dry and crunchy, try it. I wouldn't use it for my twists, but I like my hair soft and fluffy, so there's that.🤷🏽‍♀️

I don't like either of these products. Propylene glycol / Propanediol is terrible for my hair and with the new formula for Honey Hydrate it should be called Propylene glycol hydrate. Makes my roots so frizzy.
