Hey guys! For today's video I am testing out the NEW Natasha Denona Mini Retro palette but this is not your usual try on for me- we are doing this video in ONE TAKE! (actually it was three takes- my camera only records in 20 minute increments) This idea was came from a few of you, and after watching Jessica Braun do this I thought "How fun! Let's go for it!" And I now have a new respect anyone who has successfully done this (bravo, Jessica!), as well as a great appreciation for the blessing of editing. And the fast forward button, for your sakes. I hope you enjoy this one- it was a fun challenge whether I succeeded or not! Thank you all so much for stopping by! Stay safe and well!

Mandy, I think this is the absolute bravest YT video I’ve ever seen - so much more raw than when other gurus “put their hearts on the line” or “spill the tea.” I can’t think of any other beautuber who would be brave enough to release an unedited video. both my 7 and 4-year-old grandsons have been pretending to be cats too. I went and bought cloth hair bands with kitty ears off of amazon and they crack me up wearing them. Helps them live their cat lives.

Oh-HOHOHOHO, this is gonna be good. XD *makes imaginary popcorn & settles in * EDIT: Now that I've finished watching, I have to say - please don't feel self-conscious about the lengthy take. Not only 'tis the season for binging extra-long videos, but I myself am slower than a glacier with makeup application. Tree growth rings accrue faster than me, LOL. I'm a neurotic perfectionist, and being unable to wear my glasses while doing it literally leaves me flying blind, which makes me take even more time. A 40-45 minute session is the best I've managed, but it can take me over 2 hours, and that's not even doing anything highly technical!

Thread Sketch yes!!! I wear glasses and am absolutely blind without them so I don’t think I could ever film videos of me putting on makeup because my face is an inch from my mirror the entire time!

@@meganboyles8768 LOL yes, I never do a very good job of blending eyeshadow because the end of my brush is constantly banging into the mirror! XD (And I'm unable to wear contacts because I'm too squeamish to apply them.) I have a magnifying mirror now, though, so I'm going to see if that helps me sit a bit further back.

When my daughter (whose 17 now) was little she LOVED being a cat too! she literally hissed at ppl! 😂 & “clean” herself aka lick herself! She actually did this for a cpl years!! from ages 3-5ish. These days when we bring it up we all have a good laugh. although she does turn a little red in the cheeks 😂

It's always so fun to see the "backdoor" of filming, especially now that I started filming myself a few months ago. I am only 11 minutes in and already loving this... and you are still very funny and you don't use "like" all that often... I know I sure do!!!! And I also have considered Retin A or whatever it's called. I think you and I are exactly the same age. I know you are a fellow Cancer so we are at most a few weeks apart ... and boy, have I noticed my skin getting older recently. It's like a light switch went on and suddenly ALL I see is dull, saggy skin, tons of wrinkles and just no more "youth" in my face. I have to be honest - it's been really bothering me lately, so if you do try new products, I would love updates - either the ones that work, or those that don't. And lady... I touch my face all the time, so I don't even bother editing that out - I would have NO video left ;) ;) ;) . I was hearing from my piano students all day today, that NYC just announced that school is cancelled for the rest of the school year.... so no school until September. I can already feel everyone getting SO stir crazy!

Natalia Lavrova I’m a cancer too..40 and from NJ. I’m an English teacher and I’m sure NJ will follow suit with school closing for the year. So crazy. I started using Retin-A about 6 months ago. I HIGHLY recommend Cureology. It’s like $25 a month ...or maybe $40 every two (my subscription) and a dermatologist creates a formula, with Retin-A just for you based on your age, health, meds, and the pictures you submit. I love it and have noticed a difference. I might have a referral code if I recommend it to someone, but I’m not positive. I know I got a month free with a referral. Let me know if you want it.

Thanks Natalia!!😊❤️❤️ Speaking of skin and age, I totally feel you! And I think there is something about being a YT creator that can make one extra critical of oneself. I have to consciously remind myself that it is okay to not look like I’m 25- and be okay with it. But it can be so hard! We are our worst critics and I have never been so critical of myself as when I started YT! But I’ve gotten better at shooting down that critical part of myself. And you are beautiful my friend!😊❤️❤️😁

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who takes a while with doing their makeup! When I get this palette in, I feel like I can actually do a Real time GRW you and not have to keep stopping and rewinding the footage. I'll likely have my kids busting in too! Coincidentally, my 5 year old daughter has also been pretending to be a kitty lately. I'm impressed you were able to get her back upstairs as fast as you did. I'd never be so lucky in my house. If her eyes are open, she's attached to me like a barnacle! I really enjoyed the video. Zabrena is another youtuber whom I've seen do this type of unedited real-time video. As someone who is still really building solid makeup skills (especially with the eyes), I find these to be incredibly helpful. Thank you for stretching outside your comfort zone and filming this. I felt like I was hanging out with a girlfriend. And like any good friend, you don't always have to be "on" or a comedic genius all the time...just being you is enough. ❤ Thanks, Mandy.

I so admire your courage in doing a video without editing. You did a fantastic job . . . and since I also do KZfaq beauty videos (for women 50+) I can especially understand your hesitation in going the no-edit route. And frankly, it was comforting to know that others doing KZfaq occasionally have to edit out the same kinds of things I do! I definitely have to use a different lower lash mascara, so can't live without Clinique's Bottom Lash mascara. But you were truly amazing--and what a gorgeous eye look!

I’m glad you mentioned this foundation felt oily to you. I’ve been using it for a while, mixing it with foundations that are too dark for me, and during the hot summer in Texas my makeup would always rub off on my sunglasses. And when you said this feels oily, I was like yep that’s it. Tried some other foundations without mixing this in and no transfer!! Thank you Mandy!!

Love the video. I am new here and did watch the whole video. I agree, I also can't justify expensive brow products. I use up brow products very quickly and can't justify the higher price point specially when there are so many good ones in the drugstore that are equally good. Also for retinol start as low as possible and the concentration depends on the type of retinoids/retinol you use. The Ordinary granactive retinoid 2% or 5% is good for beginners. If you are starting with retinol start with 0.1 - 0.2% at best and for beginners one can put retinol as the last step after moisturizer.

The ND palette reminds me of the Golden Girls. Peaches and soft greens with soft pinks is 1980s to me. Its the finishes make it current.

This video wasn't too long. I enjoyed every minute of it (especially your little "cat" barging in). I find your videos soothing to watch actually, and I enjoy your manner of speaking. No, you're not boring; you're relatable. I'm a mother of a 1.5year old who alternates between being a dinosaur/lion/dog. We all have our insecurities and most of them are only in our minds. Thank you for being brave enough to do this unedited video. Loved your eye look too 😁 This period is a good time for all of us to decide on what kind of "normal" we all want to have. My husband and I are taking stock of the important things in our life and figuring out how we want to move forward in the future, and what our new "normal" is going to be. It's been a time of reflection for us.

Trust me I can watch you do eye looks for hours. I’ve been isolating for 3 1/2 weeks now. As a lung cancer survivor I’m slightly terrified of being around others right now and I’m a very social person. But I’m good. I prefer your taste over anybody else’s so keep it up!

I loved watching a real time eye look. I think I may try a halo eye now. We have a similar eye shape, and you often inspire me. Also...looove your hazel eye color. My daughter’s is the same grey/blue/green. Mine are more a hazel gold/green. We both love the same colors you do. And when I do my make up...I am right at 40 minutes as well. My 4 yo also pretends to be a kitty. He actually has to "go to work" before his kitty comes out because like superman, my son and kitty cant be seen together. I also use different mascara for my bottom lashes. I need a thinner, stiffer brush for them. Love this video!

I do use two different mascaras - a MAC one for my lower lashes - it never fails me. Also ... I love Wayne Goss so much that I feel bad when I use other brushes but I do for a couple for my face, including my bronzing brush which I got at Ulta. Loved this video. Nothing beats authenticity!

I actually enjoy the longer video! I've had to learn to master talking and doing makeup at the same time; as soon as I pull out my makeup kit, that's when my husband decides he wants to talk about something (usually something that doesn't really matter). I do my makeup in the living room before work and since he's always up early it's impossible to avoid LOL. That palette is very pretty.

Hi Mandy, You did a great job! This is a beautiful look. I do have that eyeshadow palette you’re using. I just received it and have not had a chance to use it yet. We are all bored at my house. We live in Central Illinois. Last week we had temps in the 80’s. Now we’re in the 50-60 range. It was so nice to hang outside and let our dogs run around. We’re all doing well so I’m thankful for that. I hope this quarantine is over soon. 😁😁💚💜💚

Those two face brushes from Rephr will get more fluffy after washing! Rephr brushes have quickly become a new obsession for me😂they're super soft and blend everything out so beautifully!!

Wow. I just got two rephr brushes too. The two first eyeshadow brushes. So pretty and soft. Jealous u have more. You killed this. Love the look and the idea of this video. Plus I love seeing people mess up so to speak. Makes you more real and relatable. No one is perfect. I like things real not perfect! You are amazing. Don't be hard on yourself. Love all your quirks and realness. Hope you have a very happy Easter 🎉!! And this whole quarantine thing sucks. Can't wait to be normal again whenever that may be. I really loved this video :) Now I've subscribed! I find that having the perspective of a woman in the age range I'm curious of the most, an older woman who has watched her children grow and has experienced the transition towards 40 is so valuable to me. Loved this video! I have been quietly watching you for weeks (the shared earthquake pulled me in). It’s your dry wit that still had me laughing out loud! I am grateful for the editing process because I am very slow when talking and chewing gum, or applying makeup. So kudos to you for doing a one take video. It’s been a hot minute since my last one and I’m not sure I’d be confident enough to do it now. Hope the kitty enjoyed her milk! And thanks for just being you in your videos. Lori
