Trying the SVBONY 503 with a Non-Cooled Color Camera

13 күн бұрынI decided to just give this scope(SVBONY 503ED 102MM) a quick test with my ASI 482MC color camera in Sharpcap. I normally use this camera with larger FL scopes, but just wanted to see how the stars went on this scope with the FPL-51 glass. These scopes are sometimes described as Semi-APO as they so a much better job of focussing all three wavelengths due to using higher quality ED glass in them.

The combo of the scope and the non-cooled camera produces very respectable images, especially with such a short integration.

Ye I should have really put the 533MC on but I was just curious how a non cooled would go. Like you say not too bad.

That's a cracking scope for the price if I hadn't bought the Altair 102 EDR one of these were definitely on the radar.

That Image turned out really well for the amount of data. Perhaps trying with a filter like the Astronomik L3 could help tame a little the blue fringing?

Thanks mate yes I've also heard about maybe trying the L3 on this rig, it's on the shopping list. 👍

That's a seriously good scope and for sure if you take more time woth the stars you can eliminate a lot of that fringing. Nice result and I really love the moon!!

Hey Nik yep I'm sure there's better ways to deal with these stars, there's probably some good new broadband filters that would help too.

Well I don't feel that bad about my homemade 131mm refractor at this point considering the commercial scope did about the same.
