Trying to FIX a Down & Out NINTENDO SWITCH

Күн бұрын

Hi, in this video I attempt to repair a Nintendo Switch with numerous faults. It was sent in by Mike from 1up Gaming. It doesn't power on and it doesn't charge even with a replacement battery. Let's see if it can be fixed.
Remember that this is just for entertainment and I am not an expert in these repairs. The processes in the video may not be the best way, the correct way or the safest way to fix these things.
I do love fault finding and trying to fix broken things so I hope that comes across in this 'Trying to FIX' series.
Many thanks, Vince.

@dom291
@dom291 4 жыл бұрын
Conductive paint is useless for this job, particularly this type of conductive paint (it's just PVA with a supposed silver fill) the resistance is too high even over short spans.... useless for a capacitive touch screen ribbon repair... even if the repair was perfect the resistance would introduce other issues. to fix properly it's the same as usual, solder and fine wire, done. conductive paint is maybe passable for keyboard repairs or other carbon based tracks that can't be soldered to but again this stuff is so poor you have to add superglue over the top once the silver stuff has "dried" otherwise it will just wipe off and/or degrade.

Could have also painted tracks for the HDMI CHARGING PORT had there been a fine enough Brush, me personally I would have used a bamboo Tooth Pick, mind you painting on tracks are pointless if the conductive paint cant be soldered too, and My Mate did say his paint was cheap.. so yeah - sigh...

Vince, thank you. I bought a faulty NS that had a faulty charge port, upon removing the old charge port, the whole bottom row of solder pads were missing, so I just put a new charge port on it and thought *sod it, aslong as it charges*. But with it being an unpatched version, I know it has slightly more value than a patched version. Anyways, I've got all 12 bypass wires on the hidden pins of the charge port, tomorrow I will fit it and hopefully I'll have a fully working charge port. And thanks to you, I know where to solder ALL those bypass wires now. I did use an old NS board with all pads intact, just to double check, and you're spot on. Thanks again. 👍
