There's something so visually endearing about abandonware games like this. The primitive 3D graphics are so nostalgic to me, despite not being born in that era, not even for another decade, but I still feel like I remember them from countless low quality computer games I played as a child. I loved the "Alone in the Dark" video, and even though these old games are pretty shitty gameplay-wise nowadays, I still love them so much, and I'm actually excited to try to play this one. Thanks for the very nice 7 and a half minutes, Ben!

The GOG and Steam releases of Alone in the Dark Trilogy contain Jack in the Dark. It's available as a launch option when you boot up the first game. If I remember correctly, if you press use/search near the bookshelf behind the counter, you can find a book. It's a lengthy read, but it contains hints and solutions to most of the game's puzzles.

Your voice is so calming. I want to suggest the game Fear and Hunger for you to play. It’s a grim-dark RPGMaker Rogue-like that picked up some popularity recently since a popular YTer covered it. I don’t count on you making a video to cover it since it’s very much a “you can technically beat it in 2 hours but you’re gonna be grinding the learning process for months” kind of game, but I think you’d be interested in the story aspect of it.

Have you tried Alice is dead? Its an oldish horror-point and click-puzzle flash game series which is similar in style to the games you've shown in your channel. The series itself is a bit short but very surreal

It is always intriguing to look back at early horror games. The graphics honestly look pretty good, it’s just the pacing and mechanics that makes ‘em so hard to enjoy nowadays

1) My frustrations with old PC games, exactly. If some old PC games are hard to emulate/install on modern PC, then it's hard to play them. I have to use ScummVM to play some games like Eye of the Beholder and a few Ultima and Might & Magic games that works after some updates are available. 2) I remember seeing an old gameplay or longplay video someone uploaded here on KZfaq, somewhere in 2007, of Jack In The Dark. Maybe I can try and find it again. Can't remember who the uploader was. And whoever that uploader was, managed to install and capture the game on video perfectly, because the audio and the image were good. Again... old PC games are hard to install/emulate on modern PC...

The steam release of alone in the dark 1 includes jack in the dark, you can select it when you boot the game up, although to get the first alone in the dark on steam, you have to buy it in a bundle with all 3 of the classic games AND the terrible reboot. Hope this helps for the next 2 in the trilogy, if you make videos on them!

Hey this comment might be a month too late, but just so you know, on GOG (a drm free distributor of old games owned by CD Projekt Red) Jack In The Dark is bundled with Alone In The Dark 1 in there. For me, it seemed to run fine, but it could also be DOS Box not wanting to work on some computers. Hopefully you see this.

you should play Omori sometime! :) it's sorta similar to The Crooked Man in the way it tackles hard subjects. Omori is one of my favorite games ever I think, just make sure to go into it as spoiler-free as you can. it'd be really cool to see your take on it!! :D
