The end of 2017 marked the end of the line for Grand Central's HST fleet, which has been retired in favour of Class 180s. To commemorate, we take to the ECML aboard the British classic.

I often did Sunderland to York with grand Central for the NRM. I even went first class a few times as it was only an extra £12 upgrade with the railcard on offpeak return!

Grand Central ones have moved to East Midlands Trains.

Scrapped mainly although some will/may go into preservation. The only HST that will remain in service will Network Rail’s Flying Banana.

No.. the whole point of the APT project was to make a special high speed train for the WCML (West Coast Mainline) which contained many curves, and the APT pioneered the concept of active tilting to address these, a feature that has since been copied on designs around the world. And also that it has been out of service for 30 yrs with the only surviving APT-P on static display at Crewe Heritage Centre and the APT-E at NRM Shildon also I’m static display.

cameron it's only good for people in the Midland because in the south west we will soon have to travel on iet which are terrible trains and not suitable for inter city routes

I used to come from west Yorkshire to well York and see the grand central ones there and sometimes I go from Leeds to Nottingham to see Midland ones so it's good for me really edit I hate the class 800 that's about it transpennine haven't got there class 802 so yea class 800 there not nice trains words em replacing the HST the HST is the best train in my mind and the class 800 you can't get your head out 😭 What has my mind come too I hope it makes sense em I need to get some sleep I'm not makeing sence I've said that omg

The LNER and GWR stock are have been replaced by Class 800s and 801s
