Not a bad idea, I normally have those items in my toiletry kit or separately in my backpack. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to toss a couple in the kit as well.

Nice setup, you just got another subscriber. I might suggest you consider a Sawyer mini filter, in the spot where the gloves are, they and the multi tool can still fit in with the tea bags/wipes. You’d have better water sourcing than just the tablets, and as you said, two is one, one is none. An entire roll of electrical tape might be better replaced with less of it, and some actual tinder in the same water-resistant case, and if you use a ranger band(tire innertube) around the tip of the lighter instead of the tape on the trigger and sparking wheel you could get to it easier and faster, plus you could add quite a bit of the duct tape around the body of the lighter. I’m wondering if you knew that stuff makes great firestarter as well. If you could find a spot in behind the notebook for a ziplock type freezer bag you might find it useful for carrying a bit of water. Even a gallon sized bag, while it won’t be able to fill up that far for transporting, can still be some use, and ought to squeeze in there. I don’t fly much anymore, but this is a terrific idea for when I do, and is close to what I keep in glove boxes in my vehicles. If I can’t get to all the gear in the trunk/hatch area, I’m at least be able to grab these. Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort on this video!

I keep a whistle on my keychain. I would add a pre-threaded needle sealed in a straw (if TSA approves) and a stick of lip balm (so many survival uses including emergency sunscreen if it has SPF15 or 30), a spare shoelace is a nice way to have some cordage… Show you love wildlife, hug a porcupine today !

Nice kit! Just don't be too attached to your Style PS. I lost mine while travelling through South America. Security agents from different countries might want to throw you different rules, and most of the times it is useless to discuss with them.

I just got back from traveling internationally and I left the Style PS at home to avoid the headache. I didn't have time to check the local laws for carry on luggage. Always with security I am smiling, complying and helpful. Being pleasant and thanking them for their work has gotten me through many encounters.

Two items for sure it will not work in international flights Europe etc. - Lighter - Multi tool Otherwise very nice and well thought small pack. I would definitely add a tourniquet and water bag. That’s my 5 cent on the subject.
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 2 ай бұрын
I've been leaving this home for international flights. Not only because I'm not sure what is allowed on a flight but in the country as well. A tourniquet is a little big but can fit on the molle on the back. A rolled up folding water bag might balance it out so it all fits nice. I'll give it some thought and see what I come up with.

Interesting little kit with useful stuff. I haven’t flown in years, but when I did, it was with Uncle Sam and he didn’t care what I carried, lol. A couple questions/thought. Why carry a mirror if you have your phone? Could you keep the bandaids in your wallet? I do and it’s handy. Learned that from my dad many years ago. Could you keep the flashlight in your pocket, for quick access on the plane?
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 10 ай бұрын
I tend to live my life by sayings, a favorite is "two is one and one is none" By having the mirror I know I'll always have a way to see my reflection if my phone battery dies. I have found the phone camera to not give as clear of a reflection as I would like. It always seems a little too fuzzy for me. I could keep bandaid to my wallet, I would worry about constantly sitting on it and slowly damage the wrapper and allowed it to become contaminated. Still a good idea, I can throw it in there and check on it periodically to see its condition. Part of my everyday carry is a small flashlight that takes CR123 batteries. I like to have a dedicated flashlight in this kit to guarantee I'll always have a good working flashlight, especially if the battery starts to die in one. Again going back to the "two is one and one is none"

I am missing a powerbank/charging cable, tweezers/toothpick
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 10 ай бұрын
The tweezers are in the multi-tool and could double as a toothpick. I always have a powerbank in the same bag that this goes into so I left it out of this bag. You should be able to squeeze smaller versions of both into this if you want. They make 2 slightly larger pouches that will fit some more items. Beefy: amzn.to/3qR0MWK Chubby: amzn.to/3L75PZQ

Super Glue is actually not a TSA approved item.
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 4 ай бұрын
Interesting, they've gone through this kit a few times and they seem to only focus on my multi-tool. ETA: Doing some quick reading to find out more information, it has to do with the glue being flammable. Not all super glues are prohibited but rather certain ones with a flashpoint at or below 140° f

No way the multitool will be allowed in cabin baggage on flights in Australia.
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 4 ай бұрын
That was my thought as well, I put this in my checked bag when I went to Australia. Flying domestically in the US I have had no issues besides them wanting to inspect the multi-tool. When flying internationally I'll put it in my checked bag so I at least have it once I get there.

I’ve been pulled at airports so many times for a “TSA approved” Leatherman Style PS I’ve given up carrying it…
@surprisecamping
@surprisecamping 4 ай бұрын
I've started keeping the kit outside of my backpack so TSA can readily access it. One agent told me I can just remove the multi-tool and have it separate in the bin so they can quickly inspect it that way. I just smile, accept the fact that they're doing their job thoroughly and thank them for their effort. It only takes a few extra minutes.

I get it, I have to leave my nice multi-tool at home that I use frequently. A few times that little Leatherman Style PS has come in handy and I've been very thankful for it. You can always put it in your checked bag but one time I did that and forgot to put it back in for my return trip and had to give away my $80 knife.
