I literally have that in my Amazon cart already! I was thinking very similarly to you on that as an all in one replacement. The only concern I'd have is if they did take it for some reason, they take my screwdriver too so having some separation would allow for some safety in losing everything.

@@Jfree441 as far as that goes you just have to make sure you don’t have the blades and they actually can’t do anything about it because it’s not technically a knife I do suggest you don’t have it in your pockets but rather in a utility bag pocket, If you feel that there is enough of a risk you can put it in your checked bag(even with the blades) and there won’t be any issues.

don't be so sure about that. Another KZfaqr reviewed that knife and suggested it for plane travel for the same reason. Somebody said their bladeless fastback got confiscated the last time he flew. Remember, regardless of what OFFICIAL TSA guidelines are, the guy at the gate has final say and if he's having a bad day or just doesn't like your shoes, your bladeless knife is getting confiscated.

As of 2 months ago the regulations were updated and bladeless utility knifes have to be checked in. Lost my 1505 that way 💔

Apparently the fastback is potentially no longer acceptable. I have heard utility knives can be taken even without a blade now

Good thinking! I've considered shrink tubing or tennis wrap but I guess electrical tape would be about the same and I already have plenty of that. Plus, it could be used as just electrical tape if I ever need it in an emergency, dual-use, I like it. Good suggestion!

I use it for a camping pot all the time...although, don't hold onto it for too long...learned my lesson the hard way on that one. That little sucker will get hot too.

@@Jfree441 I have to listen to your description a few more times to get a good mental model of your wiring, but right off the bat I suspect you’ve got a bootleg ground, probably a reverse-polarity bootleg ground. Watch this to find all of them in your house, and fix them. If there is one, the idiot didn’t do it in just one outlet: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jsxxg857u7-5oI0.html Also, double-check the continuity of the whole length of that conduit run, since that’s your found path. Lastly, you can only have one GFCI breaker or outlet in each path back to the breaker. Make sure not even one GFCI is connected to the load terminals of another GFCI. Check all of the above first, because any of the above will mask other problems and make troubleshooting difficult.

To point out something I forgot to state in my other reply, a standard three-lamp GFCI outlet tester will lie to you in many unsafe conditions, so you can’t just use that. At a minimum you need to use a non-contact voltage tester on all three prongs of each outlet plus the 3-lamp tester. The NCVT should show only the hot (black or red) wire as live, and never the neutral (white). And are you color blind? In the US, the standard colors don’t include orange or purple. You should get someone who isn’t colorblind to help you.

Hi! Great suggestions! I do keep a flashlight on my person so this kit is in addition to the things I keep in my pocket on travel day EDC. I have had bad luck with the taking of razers out of utility knives. They still seem to take the razers with no blades so I stopped all that. The gerber shard or similar items seem to be ok though.

Yeah! Turned out to be old wiring feeding a hot through neutral going outside...a quick rewire on that one and all good!!

I've considered the Jetsetter but it doesn't pack the same capability as this kit does and at least in the US I have never had issues taking it with, although I do get stopped on occasion to check for sharp objects, they have always let it through and compliment the kit.

I do have a laser measure but I find it dies so fast when I need it, it's dead. I also considered a sewing tape since it's so flexible but the length is limited. I have once carried 6ft of paracord with marks every foot for rough measuring...but used that and have no put a new one in lol

Believe it or not, it comes in handy while packing to determine if you bag is considered carry on size. Otherwise it's mostly just part of the "just in case" tool set because I can't take the handyman mindset out just because I fly lol

Yes, you are right if I called it a plug I misspoke, it IS and switch. I re-connected all of my outlets and switches.

The sad thing is it's not just the written rules that get ya. If an officer has a bad day or just wants to be a pain, they can basically take whatever they want and claim it's dangerous...luckily, I have not had that happen yet and sorry that it happened to you. Losing tools or a multitool would bum me out!

@@Jfree441 The scissors and the multitool with chisel would not stand a chance. The screwdriver for the bits and the pliers maybe. But I think that is also at the discretion of the security officer. There would be a possibility of injuring people or damaging property and endangering safety.

The truth is because it's expensive and TSA agents can take whatever they want if they are in a bad mood and I'm not willing to take that risk.

Thank you!! I actually was able to figure it out. Fairly straight forward, just tough to trace back. The old owner wired a neutral wire to the hot in the previous outlet in the circuit. Fixing that fixed everything.

I am in no way advocating sneaking anything in! Everything is easily accessible from and outside pocket if they have concerns. None of these items break the law.

To not mask something às something else etc. To just think about it all & be up front as there's potential legal consequences to it.

@@AsaulenkoA for someone like myself who is so used to carrying multitool and pocket knives everyday, stepping away from that mindset makes me miss the utility. For those who don't tinker on a daily basis it might seem excessive but for those who have a full utility EDC get it.

I take a Leatherman everywhere and it comes in handy all the time. I’ve fixed thermostats, doors, DVD players, and all other types of things. I use my Leatherman more on vacation than any other time
