Love the kit. I would wear a belt or lanyard made of paracord to have extra cordage.

Once I get back to my normal travel schedule I need to put together a better EDC travel bag. Gotta watch all those new TSA rules.

I agree on the pocket poncho. We’ve needed ponchos so often when traveling. Most of the time, it’s when we’re out walking around and away from the car or sitting at an outdoor restaurant. Then you have a downpour and have to spend like 5 bucks a piece when you can buy them online for less than a buck each. I travel with one each for the whole family now and they could make great shelters with a small hank of bank line if needed. The other useful item to have is some fingernail clippers and a small eyeglasses screwdriver or eyeglasses repair kit.

I REFUSE TO FLY THESE DAYS…SO THE TSA IS JUST A DISTANT MEMORY! HOWEVER, I DO DRIVE EVERYWHERE I GO SO I HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE SURVIVAL KIT(S) IN MY SUV FOR MYSELF AND PASSENGERS! LOTS OF GOOD IDEAS IN YOUR VIDEO THO! THANKS!

Nice array of items. Scissors is very clever. You should try and dump a few of the fire starting items and make room for a pocket poncho or maybe a plastic trash bag.

Those one handed firestarters are more likely to break down than a BIC lighter. That's why i always carry it matches and a real ferro rod on my person. Like most Americans you travel gear and gadget heavy when you've been in the armed forces you know what i mean.

Not counting duplicates: (1) Saw (garrote), (2) non-empty bic lighter, (3) containers with more than 3.4oz of capacity in a non-checked bag. * The power bank says 10,000mAh on the back, so he's probably OK there. * Matches are all safety matches (even the waterproof ones) * Scissors are under the maximum size, so OK ... all at the discretion of whatever TSA agent happens to be looking at your gear.

Don't know how recently youVe flown but the saw will not make it. No saws of any kind allowed, and no tolls over 7". Also ONE pack of matches OR a Bic lighter (not both).

Great video. Did you have a means of water purification? I know you could use the bandanna. What about a sawyer mini or a few coffee filters? Also maybe a contractor bag. I also wouldn’t trust any button compass. Why not go for a baseplate version? Just my opinion. Great ideas. Thanks for sharing. 👍

For my carry-on TSA would not allow me to have nail clippers however in my checked bags I had two knives

Yes. Because your knives are in checked bags locked away in the luggage compartment you don’t have access to weapons DURING the flight. That’s the whole point. Good job TSA

No. The wire saw is a garrote used as a strangulation weapon. And neither matches nor firestarters nor butane lights are allowed. The TSA rules are online and pretty strict. The inspectors have great leeway to confiscate based on their judgement. And they can deny you boarding if you want to argue about it. Happens every day
