In this third video focusing on early extension, we'll explore a concept called spinal counterbalancing' - a term I use to refer to the importance of maintaining proper spinal alignment throughout the swing. We'll also discuss how to generate speed in the downswing at the appropriate moment. The direction and plane of the club throughout the backswing and downswing, which affects the swing path, is another pivotal aspect. To foster a more efficient kinematic sequence, today's featured drill utilizes alignment sticks, which help reinforce proper body rotation and balance. Finally, it's essential to establish 'feels' that resonate with your unique swing. Be sure to revisit parts one and two for a solid foundation.

I have been playing golf for over 30 years and always struggled with balance, pulling from the top and early extension. I've had more lessons than I care to remember with many different instructors and not one managed to explain the causes of and solutions to early extension as good as you have here. I followed the advice given in all three videos in this "Early Extension" series and my goodness... I have never felt so much ROOM in the downswing. My swing also feels effortless because I am powering through at the correct moment (not from the top of the backswing). It's not only the buckets of room I feel in the downswing that amazes me but also how much straighter the ball goes and also the fact that the ball is going either the same distance or slightly longer with this more easy and effortless feeling swing. Yes, there are still bad shots in there when I revert back to my old habits but that's where the practice comes in to groove this new feeling. Amazing series mate, thank you so much for taking the time to make and post it. I am grateful, thank you.

Trevor, thank you very much. The quality of your teaching is outstanding : you should even be more insistent on the importance of doing things slowly : This is the ONLY way for our nervous system to " rewrire " our brain properly and you know what, even if you have the knowledge it is still difficult to discipline oneself : That is why the video you did with Eric Cogorno about the backswing being at 10 % of what one can do is so important ! One of the trickiest things to learn or discover is to find a triggering mechanism ( some muscle contraction) to carry on with the downswing when you are at the top , as we know the downswing starts with the recentering of the body when the club is // to the ground in the BACKSWING ...... So this warrants a lecture of you on the subject.......thank you......

Nice videos, I have started to get a better swing by slowing everything down. I feel i can hit my short irons very well, but i early extend 80%-90% of my long irons and hybrid. I really try to go slow, especially at the top and the start of downswing. Do you have any idea why this happen? Take care! Thank you for all your great videos!

Excellent video and you hit on the timing of the takeaway loading sequence. East to make the mistake of letting the him and torso open up together but looks like your stressing the upper body only to the trail thigh and using hip turn and a little late shoulder move to finish the turn?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment and questions! You are correct in the way you explained it. I like the lead side to start the movement of the takeaway where the club moves just past trail leg (lead shoulder and arm). Then the trail hip will start to rotate back and you can finish this with trail shoulder retraction (we could also say trail shoulder turn for easy terminology). Let me know if that makes sense and thank you for the feedback and support! TS

Great video as a conclusion to the other two. Can you explain the first part of the takeaway (that you describe as side bend). Is that a turn to hands parallel with side bend and minimal hip turn?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 9 ай бұрын
I’ll add this to video content I’ll shoot! But yes, lead shoulder and arm in a stick model would begin the swing before trail side balances out and starts to work back / up!

Trevor. Is it the arms or the body that controls tempo of the swing?
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 7 ай бұрын
It is how they are synchronized together. Some people need more of one do the other. I would say typically in the beginning of the motion, it’ll be starting w/ lead shoulder and arm swing more

I feel so much tightness in my inner lead hip socket and trail outside hip when doing this. The more I try to turn the more my lead knee wants to bend down and my head lowers. Should that knee only work inward? I’m a tall stiff guy so I struggle with flipping my hands and nasty hook miss when I’m not turning well towards the end of a round.
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 10 ай бұрын
If you are struggling with mobility the lead knee should certainly work in (especially if there is tightness (I’d even go as far as keep the left foot pointed straight ahead so you have the ability to work the knee more in on the way back. Let me know if that makes sense and how I can help!

Love this video and you content. I struggle with EE and fell like I have seen all the KZfaq videos on the topic and worked for a long time trying to improve😅. I even do it on half wedge shots so it seems like my problem is more related to your video #2. My question is if you have seen student (not juniors) that have these swing faults actually improve to the point of getting in to the nice impact position we all strive to achieve? Is it then a really gradually improvement or is it sometimes a light bulb moment where the sequencing falls into place? One of Mark's latest video's had me really confused as it probably only makes matters worse trying to get early hand speed and then slowing down towards impact. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mseSjM2Qu7nOYXk.html
@tsgolf
@tsgolf 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment and feedback! There is a lot of info out there that can be very difficult to decipher through what’s relevant for you here on the web. The biggest thing I’d say is there needs to logic behind what it is you are doing The big reasons I see it mostly is due to setup, next controlling the ground and pelvis relationship, followed by early speed being created from the top (pulling down). Then our goal is to actually learn what proper impact FEELS like (this way we can work our way towards that). This will truthfully something that I would say to try and get better at daily. There isn’t usually a magic pill or drill that just fixes it forever due part to this being a motor pattern issue (doing for years upon years repetitively). Build a game plan, not what the cause is and start minimizing drill and feel wise daily. Didn’t take hitting a million balls either, learn to move the proper way firstly. Hope this helps! TS
