TSW How To Setup The Metrolink Rotem Cab Car After Manually Spawning in Free Roam

When spawning a train in Free Roam mode they are sometimes not ready to run like they are in Service and Scenario modes. In this particular case of the Metrolink Rotem Cab Car on Antelope Valley none of the electricals work although the train will drive. Here is how to fix it.

Good tutorial. I like this train as it's the kind that GO runs in Toronto. Interesting fact to add in: use your dynamic brake for station stops, they can be used to something ridiculous such as 7mph and this is done to reduce wear on the brakes. And yes, the amount of horn for the number of crossings has this feeling like a horn sim. When leaving stations, just the bell is sufficient so as not to deafen people.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've not tried dynamic braking from the cab car. I'll have to give it a go. I prefer our local horn/whistle rules. The warning device shall be sounded with sufficient duration and repetition for the situation as determined by the driver. I.e. anything from not at all up to continuous.

There's also a very interesting thing you can do as this can hook and couple up to any train with buckeye coupling it works with a class 66 for example but there's other consists that can be weird to say the least making it yourself using free roam here's some I did British rail 101 DMU with the flying Scotsman towing it around from the front, the 363 pulling a dosto with a 2 08 shunters at the dosto end and finally a double headed castle set HST with a class 66 at the front

There are lots of fun things you can do with free roam that is for sure. You can make consists from history, or you can make things that just make you smile and everything in between.

Tried to do a Doncaster free run last night… 8 trains worth of set ups and being ignored before I just did a scenario to be able to leave the station … although I did set up the wrong side of the train on my first attempt … only had the game 2 days and done 8/ 1million tutorials

In free roam you need to set a path for the train before you'll get any green signals to let you go. I suggest doing services and scenarios while you learn.

No, there is no provision to upload your own files. This is deliberate as DTG only hold certain licensing and people uploading their own logos could get them into legal difficulties.
