There are two distinct generations of PCC streetcars: the post-war "all-electric" vehicles that most Torontonians are familiar with, and the pre-war 'air-electric" models built between 1936 and 1945. The TTC had 290 of these older vehicles, plus an additional 27 purchased used from Cincinnati, and these operated into the late 1960s and early 1970s. As the Toronto subway expanded, however, and the Toronto streetcar network shrank, the old air-electric vehicles started to disappear. Seeing this, railfans chartered the last vehicles for their final goodbyes. Richard Glaze was on hand to catch charters of three of the last Air PCCs to operate on the streets of Toronto.
