There are two distinct generations of PCC streetcars: the post-war "all-electric" vehicles that most Torontonians are familiar with, and the pre-war 'air-electric" models built between 1936 and 1945. The TTC had 290 of these older vehicles, plus an additional 27 purchased used from Cincinnati, and these operated into the late 1960s and early 1970s. As the Toronto subway expanded, however, and the Toronto streetcar network shrank, the old air-electric vehicles started to disappear. Seeing this, railfans chartered the last vehicles for their final goodbyes. Richard Glaze was on hand to catch charters of three of the last Air PCCs to operate on the streets of Toronto.

You're most welcome. Hopefully in the next few months, we can set up the fundraiser to digitize the remaining 2/3rds of his collection.

The 4600 shown in this video is the first 4600, the A-10, ex Cincinnati Street Railway 1125, not to be confused with the second 4600, which was the A-15 (the rebuilt A-8 originally numbered 4505).

No matter where the Kansas City PCCs went, they still kept their one-piece destination sign.

The air electrics seem to run relatively faster.

Careful, that might be an artefact of the film speed. We haven't been able to figure out exactly how many frames per second Richard filmed some of these shots in, so this might be running a bit fast. Check out how the people are moving, and see if they're walking faster than would be normal.

No I admit I was watching this on 2x speed, but what I'm trying to say is that other modern streetcars run gradually slower than the cars except for this one.
