I've been really happy with this lens. I love the styling and the F0.95 works brilliantly... on a tripod, which is the only place I was expecting it to work well. The shot quality is awesome. The only TTartisan that hasn't impressed me on a bang-for-buck level is the 17mm, which was just a bit *meh* the others have all been great.

Loyal audience of your channel! @pal2tech Love your reviews! I have this TTArtisan lens for my Sony camera. It's very useful. To be honest, it's really not sharp enough at 0.95 for sharpness lovers, but considering it could cover both full-frame and APS-C frame at this cheap price. What else I can expect! It becomes my 2022 lens!

I have ttartisan 50 f1.2 fx mount and it seems 50 1.2 is same well rich built and pretty much better in term of image quality for half price of 0.95 Thx for the review, now we wait for fuji summit and new sigma and tamron lenses

Your comment on the lens being a nice skipping stone hits home as I looked after my 16mm 1.4 lens cap in dense ferns for over 30 minutes yesterday. They do love being out in nature!

I don't really understand this type of lens, I can buy tons of super sharp old Olympus, Cannon, Nikon, Pentax glas om ebay, and adaptors, and they cost penny's, I know they are not f 0,95 but still, I think that's the way to go if you are in to manual focus lenses, and sometimes you are in luck and run acros a lens like the HELIOS 44 that is just so f....d up that it's super cool, it makes the most wired swirley background, and soft edges, but I only payed about 12$.

If you do get the lens cap stuck on because it was tightened too hard, get a narrow rubber band and put it on around the cap, this band will give you the added grip to help get the cap off.

Nice review, but I guess you missed focus on the wall test ....the corners were way sharper than the center on your review... I've seen quite usable image quality from this lens on other reviews

But if you really need a cheap 50mm lens, get the TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 which is half the price, lets in about the same amount of light and doesn't have such extreme fringing or blurred/vignetted edges.

Chris, have you tested out the Laowa 33mm 0.95 yet? I'd love to see that one compared to the Speedmaster. A friend of mine got the Laowa and I was blown away at how clean it was wide open (virtually no chromatic aberrations) and how good its highlight rolloff was. I'd be really curious at a comparison.

Nice review, I like your technical setup with the paper on bricks or whatever that wall is made of. I just got my first Fujifilm (xt3), its also my firs mirrorless medium end camera. your videos are big reason why I went with fujifilm, I was really sold on the tactile feel of everything, and now that I have it in my hands I really love it! The first lens I got for it was the 16mm f1.4 sigma that just came out this year. I really love it and I'm hoping you will do a review of it and the other 2 in the sigma xmount fuji family. I think the next lens I buy will be the 30mm...

How does this lens compare to the TTArtisans 50mm f/1.2? In image quality, and also in actual light gathering ability?
@SuttonBen
@SuttonBen 2 жыл бұрын
Insanely soft optics. Great for a special effect but 7Artisans has a very similar lens for much less money. Personally, I'd advise the ttArtisans 50mm 1.2 if you want an affordable fast lens with decent optics and build. (Error with pricing of 7artisans lens, but recommendation of ttartisans 50mm 1.2 still stands)
@NickBarang
@NickBarang 2 жыл бұрын
The RRP on the 7artisans 50mm F0.95 is $236 not sure where you get the impression this is "much less money" than $228 but it's not, it's $8 more. And performance-wise, I can tell you (as I have both) they are almost identical. And the lens is not "insanely" soft, it's got a very narrow focal plane at F0.95 as all F0.95 lenses have. This is not "soft", it's completely sharp within the focal plane but if your corners aren't in line with your subject's eyes? Then, they aren't going to be in focus.
@SuttonBen
@SuttonBen 2 жыл бұрын
@@NickBarang I do apologise for the mix up with the 7artisans pricing. It can be found for about 30% cheaper in the UK if you look around but I'll admit I had my pricing off. I suspect sample variation is an issue. Pal2Tech's testing here suggests it's very soft indeed below f2.8. I've seen similar results from the 7artisans. The plane of focus is narrow but let's not pretend It's so narrow that it makes it particularly hard to evaluate sharpness. It's about the same as a 50mm f1.4 on a FF system. I think one of the biggest issues is that the these 0.95 lenses make a lot of sacrifices. They are certainly significantly less sharp than say the 50mm 1.2 from ttartisans (which is a lot cheaper). They don't offer much if any light gathering advantages, as they have pretty average true light transmission. So they are pretty much purely designed for a "dreamy look". Which could be replicated by using a filter. I still stand by the recommendation of the ttartisans 50mm 1.2 over this lens. It's a lot sharper, cheaper, just about as well built, smaller, lighter... and the DoF is not that different in real world use.
@NickBarang
@NickBarang 2 жыл бұрын
@@SuttonBen Pal2Tech's testing is, quite literally, out of focus (as others have pointed out too). You can't determine an image is "soft" unless it's in focus. I also have the 50mm 1.2 from TTartisan (in fact, I have all the TTartisan lenses and most 7artisans too), as I collect lenses, the 50mm 0.95 is a far better lens. It's a studio portrait lens. Which if properly mounted on a tripod and kept parallel to the subject delivers exceptional results for $230. And it balances the XT-4 better than the F1.2 and when cranked up to F8, it's superb for street work.

I'll post here for anyone to help. I put my recently arrived Pentacon 135mm 2.8 on my Fuji X-M1 body to test it's sharpness, as the body has a built in flash, keeping my hand held speed at 1/250th. When I press down my rear top wheel to get the focus assist magnification it doesn't magnify from the center, even though my spot focus is set to center in the body on the grid. A little mag box appears on the screen the the screen magnifies to that box. But the small box is up at the top of the screen. This white framed box is NOT the adjustable size and position little green box, but a magnification box that becomes full screen mag when I press down the rotating wheel. Just trying to find a way to get that magnification back to center again. I started to say TT Artisan and Fuji to my roommate and I said Tiki. Well, it IS the weekend....

It's to do with the "optical formula" of a lens design, separate from whether the focus group is moved by a force from a motor or by hand.

Yes, for sure but you need to be VERY CAREFUL in low light as it will be harder to see your DOF and easier to misjudge the focus.

I take a lot of pictures and enjoy my photography a lot. It is my opinion that China, Russia and America are going to war, as a matter of fact we are already at war with them in many ways. If you don’t believe this then why have so many companies already been going through cyber attacks and many have been put out of business completely. So I have to ask the question why are so many Americans still buying Chinese goods and products daily? Why are so many Chinese products promoted on Facebook and other social media outlets. Why do I see all kinds of Photography gear and Lens from China promoted on KZfaq? Why do I see so many folks bragging about their new Chinese lens on all the photography forums? Obviously we are now living with generations of people who never watched the death tolls each night from Vietnam! Obviously we are living with people that haven’t a clue how many lives were lost at Pearl Harbor and World War Two. Do you have to see blood and bodies out in the street before you get it people. Wake Up!

5:23 WTF! I assume you have correctly focused. This is completely unseable! I started "really" talking fotos when I first put on a FD 50mmF1.4 on my A6000, in 2014 or 15. That was a soft lens, but mine was from early 80ies. Later I tried a 50mm Samyang 1.4 that was really sharp. I own now a 32mm F1.2 from a CN company - not good. I rarely use it. But have a 8mm fsiheye from pergear F2.8 that is really nice. So I think I know when I see garbage.
