Good morning from the PH, doc. My father might have a TB and he is diabetic along with many other illnesses. He is currently taking 7 medications. Would it be fatal for his kidneys to have TB treatment for 6 months?
@medtoday
@medtoday 3 жыл бұрын
Some drugs have the ability to cause kidney damage. This is called nephrotoxicity. One of the most common types of nephrotoxic drugs is aminoglycosides. But in some people, kidney damage due other reasons can cause less excretion of certain drugs. As a result, those drugs get accumulated within the blood, causing certain complications. Search by the name of each drug for nephrotoxicity. You will be able to find it easily.

I am in Thailand and was diagnosed 5 days ago after a chest X-ray and a sputum test (Took only 20 minutes). I thought my problem was nasal drip caused by air con and living in a smallish room. However the Doctor sent me to the Hospital.....I have no night fever don't cough up blood don't have chest pains. Was bringing up lots Phlegm every day now hardly any BUT I get short of breath after walking short distances and still have a cough....Will this subside soon? I really do struggle to catch a breath for a few minutes after very little excretion? The hospital doctors where I am speak very little English so I have no idea if my cough and shortness of breath is normal with TB or not...appreciate any help you can offer
@medtoday

Are you taking anti TB drugs now? Now, TB is actually a serious infection. So, if you are diagnosed with TB, you may recieving anti TB drugs right now. But, it should be diagnosed with a more sensitive test; like a PCR or bacterial culture. Coughing up blood and chest pains are usually the late symptoms of TB. If you take anti TB drugs regularly, it wont be much serious. But you should consult a chest physician for more advise. Hope you got what you have asked for.

@@militarybrat123 it depends on your exam. In my point of view, we should not prepare only for exams. When we become doctors, we meet real patients. By the way, I have been detected as pre TB patient this week, but I don't understand, because when in my teens, I had a "primo infection" and exempted of BCG vaccine. Subsequently, I had few months (can't remember how long) of treatment with RIMIFON medicine. So is it possible today to be with such illness?

Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I've seen the great importance of natural herbs and the wonderful work they have done in people's lives. I wonder why people still spend their money on surgery, injections and drugs each time they are sick. Natural herbs can cure all kinds of illness including herpes, diabetics, asthma, Cancer, hepatitis, etc. I've seen it with my own eyes. Don't agree with TB causing anorexia? Surely weight loss would be a more appropriate clinical presentation as anorexia is a mental health condition?
@medtoday
@medtoday 3 жыл бұрын
Yes TB causes anorexia. In TB, blood cytokine levels are high; mainly TNF. These cytokines elicit an inhibitory effect on the hypothalamus. So as a result, patient will be anorexic. This anorexia is the reason for weight loss. Same thing happens with a cancer. Anorexia is not only due to a mental health condition. Even a viral infection could cause anorexia
