I know KZfaq vids are supposed to be short and sharp etc but would love to see Jimmy taking the boys through a proper practise session on the range. I think proper practise is something a lot of golfers struggle with, myself included. Just end up playing virtual golf on top tracer etc. The masterclasses are top tier though

I’m a former fitter, was aspiring to caddie on tour, I’ve come across a few practice plans. Google golf range practice itinerary. 🤙 Here’s an example Putting Drills: Putt under string for 10 minutes 10 in-a-row from 4 sides of cup at 4 feet Clock drill One ball going through routine Lag putting on chipping green Chipping Drills: 20 balls inside club length within 30 attempts 18 holes of up&downs staying at even par Technique work: keep shaft angle same at impact, lower body/head still Challenge the guys to 9 hole green side contests Ball Striking Gumpy drill Lay sticks down and groove short irons out to flag, work on fixing your eyes on what is square Different club & different target for each shot 10 balls in-a-row inside made up fairway play 9 holes gather yardages with Trackman

Jim does a great job of simplifying things that a lot of coaches can’t do. A lot of coaches go into the mechanics of a swing too much when all you wanna do is hit a ball straight

Wow! At 58 y/o, I'm not a slicer but I do struggle with my driver occasionally. My high draw turns into a low lefty too often! But the "tee it high and come from 7 o'clock" was amazing! My fear was a high right shot but the balls all started on line and had the softest of draws back to the center of the fairway. What a tip JB! Thanks!

One thing I noticed Jon Rahm doing on the range was setting up with the clubhead a good 6 inches back from the ball, which seemed to be promoting the feel of getting the clubhead ahead of the hands at impact. I slice driver big-time but never struggled with irons but my iron swing and driver swing were almost identical. Tried setting up with the head further back and I've noticed a massive improvement. Another tip I saw from watching Tommy Fleetwood was placing a tee in front of the ball and trying to avoid hitting it post-impact, ensuring you're hitting up on it.

This is a brilliant video; I definitely tee the ball up too low, and I can see from Jimmy's explanation why I'm struggling. I've tried hitting up on it, but I really need the ball teed up higher. Thanks Bulldog

weight transition is also key. a perfect analogy is skimming a stone, you would never stand still doing it give it a try now with an imaginary stone. you first plant your trail leg then the weight transfers, your upper body starts to whip around and then before you've reached the top of backswing your weight has aready shifted back to the lead leg, after that your upper body whips through the target line on a shallow path. i heard this tip of pretending you're skimming a stone and it works with all golf clubs too. another key benefit is keeping right elbow tucked during downswing, if it starts to separate you create all sorts of problems, imagine on downswing youre trying to touch your back with your trail elbow.

Love the Channel and this type of video is great, would love to see the boys on the range trying this stuff out. I have/had a massive slice even though I was coming in at 7 o'clock with a high Tee... couldn't figure out what was going wrong until I filmed my swing. I found my wrist flexion was causing my club face to be 45 degrees open on the down swing. Initial path was straight and 100 ft plus high but 40-50 yards right. use the tools available to you.

@christophertandy8317

Face strike is the major takeaway here, the tee height helps you to get to the ideal face strike. Jim said it, all around the ball is the money area … the teaching profession spend a lot of time talking about ideal positions at the top, but that’s to try and stop you messing up around the ball or steering. Hitting the ball at 7 and letting the club go through that to 12:30-13:00 can only be good and out the middle as well … ( that’s how I used to play - then I got influenced and gained 10 shots 🙄☹)

Haven't played for about 15 years and just got back into it the last 5 months. I kept slicing it when i started again and would aim my whole body left to compensate, losing major distance. This video fixed my slice straight away. I was pegging it too low and like you said - i was hitting down on it rather than hitting up. Thanks gents👍 Keep up the great content. For the first 30 or so rounds I played I was always with my mate, but I eventually ventured out on my own and sometimes it's better. When you're with someone else it can add to pressure, I play better on my own because I relax into the shots more

I tried loads of different tee heights at the range, on grass with proper tee's and sprayed the face with athlete foot spray. Kept chaging height until i was hitting it in the middle with my swing. I’m an average golfer (8 handicap) but always hit over draws/pulls etc! I got a 24handicap new golfer friend hitting draws at the range in 5 mins who suffered with slices! (And he’d had lessons) I said pull your right foot back/closed, tee the ball out the toe and swing out to 1 on the cockface. Jimmy say 7 I say 1. Same thing! Can also keep your shoulders squarer/closed for longer on the downswing

Ball position is key too front foot inside heel. Weight transfer is key too.. strong grip will help on a slicer… Club face toe end just off centre, less spin control will help though the air.. 2500 spin check this on ya next lesson with ya pro. These are points that help me from my pro 👍🏼

The single best bit of advice here was so understated: 'Go on the range and hot the opposite of what you cant stop'. Yes. Then you learn the range of feelings and before you know it, you'll start controlling it all and working the ball. Cant underestimate this enough.
