After my quick and dirty speed test without enough power to maintain level flight, I wanted to do a bit more thorough test of speeds in each configuration. Stay tuned till the end for a breakdown of the conclusions.

Chronic depression huh. Sounds like undiagnosed genetic condition catching up as you age. Noticed in one vid your smile is uneven like happens with myasenthia gravis or thymoma, but also genetic MG. Might be worth getting a genome sequence to make sure youre not mismedicating, which would lead to roller coaster effect. Tends to effect a gland wrapping the upper heart and arteries as you age, but the right meds can help a lot. Also one treatment is hyperbaric, so the flyjng may be a trigger at altitude. Be worth looking at if insurance will allow.

I love that airport. I landed there a couple of times in a Skyhawk on a cross country flight at dusk. The runway lights came on during the downwind leg which was the coolest thing ever. I really wanted to land on that long skinny crosswind runway but the winds didn't favour it.

I HATE winter, hate being cold, and hate the sun setting at 4:15 in December (it's finally creeping up from there a LITTLE bit). Dealt with it my whole life, except for the 2 fantastic years I lived out west from mid 1999 to early 2001. Those were the happiest years of my life! Wifey isn't ready to move just yet. I'm 5' 11" but I'm glad that I went with the 1400cm PAP rather than the 1500cm (the bigger one wasn't available at the time). The 1500cm cage is BIG! I can run a 130cm prop on the 1400cm, but it really needs a 125cm for better clearance. I have touched some lines on setup with the 130cm prop (At clutched idle slow spin).

Tucker can you please do a video specifically on how the speed bar actually works and how it interacts with the paramotor when you go full bar?
@michaelkennedy2528
@michaelkennedy2528 Жыл бұрын
It is pretty simple actually. The leading edge of the wing gets pulled down, reducing the angle of attack. The pro is it allows you to go faster, the con is that it pushes the margin and a collapse is more likely due to the wind pushing down somewhat more on the leading edge verses the leading edge being slightly tilted at an upward angle. That's why your not supposed to use the brakes, just tip steering when on speed bar, almost guaranteed a full frontal collapse if the brakes are used. Application of the speed bar should be somewhat gradual as well, yanking down on the leading edge of the wing is frowned upon lol.

I know it's cold at 1000 ft going 40-80mpg, but statistical analysis requires at least three data points to be able to make a valid sample set. So three ups and three downs to get a true averages. you can average two, but how do you know there weren't any outliers? @ska042
@ska042 Жыл бұрын
Anemometers wouldn't work reliably here, you'd need to take a page out of airplane design and use a pitot/static system to compare pitot pressure and static pressure. You can get an indicated airspeed from the difference between those two pressures and your altitude from the static pressure. True airspeed can be calculated from indicated airspeed, temperature and altitude.
