The name "East West Line" was used in the construction stage, but renamed as "Tuen Ma Line" (short for "Tuen Mun - Ma On Shan") when officially opened.

In the near future there is going to be a MTR Northern Line which will use West Rail Line's Color Magenta en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Link_(MTR)

This is a pretty unique line to have a reversal of directional orientation. I wonder if any other urban railway line in the world has this.

I can't think of anywhere else where trains switch directions in between, maybe someone else can help?

The terms ‘up’ and ‘down’? Cross Country in the UK are not a line, but their trains do just that as they reach their closest to London at BNS, and diverge after that. The shape of the Piccadilly Line is similar to the TML, but the Tube uses N/E/S/W; everything is in London!

@@hiddenhongkong the tracks at to kwa wan prob went up n other went down, so the tracks at sung Wong toi changed places,as a result of to kwa wan, not swap directions They also changed places at Hin Keng I think

@@hiddenhongkong Seoul Metro Line 4. They swap directions at the boundary between the 2 operators' tracks. (Seoul Metro uses right hand operation, while Korail uses left hand operation).

@@FlatEarthKiller Changing places sounds more confusing as changing direction is more commonplace. Also, the tracks only swap sides at To Kwa Wan and NOT at Hin Keng. However I feel like they shouldn't have done this and make the entire TML right hand traffic as this will make the cross platform transfer at Nam Cheong better utilised (people from NT to HK Island and ppl from Lantau to TST, Hung Hom and Kowloon City)

This is not really that related to this video, but I am wondering what is the top 10 or top 5 annoying interchange stations Rules: no interchange that does not appear on the map, example: mong kok east to mong kok No non interchange stations, example: sham Shui po, sha tin and many more It must be mtr, example: Tokyo metro stations, New York metro station, and many more With these rules, here is my list 1. Austin to kowloon( I know these two stations aren’t intended to be interchanged between both, but it shows it on the map 2. East tsim Sha Tsui to tsim sha Tsui 3 and 4 is a tie, Austin to Hong Kong west Kowloon and Austin to Hong Kong west kowloon(I just don’t know which is a longer route 5. Hong Kong to central (Ok maybe top 5 is too lame, top 10 probably)
