the quality of this show's props was insane. also there's a theory that the whole show is actually set in the 1930s. the cars, some boats, the warships, etc. all connect to the great depression.

TUGS was really underrated, I partially blame Britt Allcroft for TUGS problems because she tried to sue David Mitton and Robert Cardona for artistic licence as she felt the TUGS were very similar to Thomas however this was quashed as there was no evidence of copying at all in terms of faces. Also on Salty's Lighthouse if you look David Mitton's name is missed off the credits however Cardona's name is on there. Awesome video you earned a subscriber!

Agreed even though I like Thomas I think tells them gotten more ratings and Thomas just decided to basically become the Imposter just putting it in and then in the back just derailed off the rails of good ratings Thomas and friends is like a murderer to other shows that are starting to pick up quickly try to gain more popularity that's what led them up to their current state but talks with carried on by Theodore Tugboat which I absolutely hate

TUGS is great but honestly, yeah, only dedicated fans really like it. I’ve seen some fellow Thomas fans say it’s timeless but I can’t agree, it’s a sort of child-friendly looking show that masks the undertones to some dark stories that has a huge budget problem show and that immediately makes it apparent that this wasn’t going to last long.

Oh yes, and have you seen the video The Unlucky Tug about TUGS? If so, what do you think of it? If not, PLEASE take a look at it, I highly recommend it. You may even learn some new things about this show you didn't know before. New Info about TUGS is constantly being uncovered, and we'll probably learn even more about it in the coming future. I'd also recommend the 2 [so far] voiceover dubs of TUGS on his channel, of the episodes "Trapped" and "Munitions". I don't know if you're over the age of 18, since these are "18+" videos, but even if you aren't, you'll still get some pretty big laughs from watching these videos. I know I certainly did.

I actually easily found this video among many other Tugs videos, simply by KZfaq searching, “tugs”. The first review I saw of Tugs was the one by Steve Reviews. Your review and his are both great. I was already aware of Tugs, years ago, as well as Theodore Tugboat, but I didn’t know much about them or really check them out much, but now I’m quite interested in these rather obscure Thomas-like shows about tugboats. I already know they’re quite different in tone, and I’m definitely checking them out, now.😃

By the way, I actually first saw a part of probably one of these two shows on the television at a friend’s house, one night at around 10 years old. Logically, it’s more likely to have been Theodore Tugboat, but I barely remember what the show in question looked like, and Tugs and Theodore Tugboat both quite remind me of it.

I made my old friend watch Tugs just to see Izzy Gomez, because he used to live in Mexico, and boy did I get a reaction out of him!

Regarding Izzy Gomez: I showed TUGS to my Grandma recently, and when she saw Izzy Gomez, she really wasn't bothered that much by him. I don't know if it crossed her mind that he was a Mexican stereotype, or maybe she DID know, but didn't think he was that offensive. She mainly just focused on him needing a tow and not getting it from the other tugs. I may ask her if she knew tomorrow, or what she thought of Izzy.

2:20 Thomas also has explosions, fire and a character that literally dies on screen. And then had its face lifted up to be sent to the Scrappy. Oh, talking about the Scrappy or Scrapyard, that place is filled with dead engines! Basically an engine morgue. And let's not talk about Arry and Bert, the twin diesels that work there. They tried to kill an engine, twice! And let's not talk about the fact they are the ones helping with the scrapping of the engines later seen in the Scrapyard. Then there's Henry who was bricked up in the tunnel for a few weeks. But he at least deserved it. Blocking the main line so that the rain won't spoil his paintwork. There's also S.C.Ruffy who's the leader of the troublesome trucks who got ripped apart, by accident. Oh, and S.C.Ruffy got scrapped in the books that the series was based upon. I should mention that being scrapped equals being killed. There have been a couple characters that have been saved from scrap or should I say death. I think that's enough. I'll be surprised if I can send this.😅 Yeah, Thomas is a lot more darker than you would think.

2:22 for those who were not familiar with that scene it was not bluenose that grey tug with the captain hat it was big mickey that big crane fallen down that is a character and has a personality

Most of the sets pieces from Tugs were seen in Thomas from Series 3 onwards until Series 12.

I had to groan when you mentioned Izzy. Yes, he is a bland stereotype that shows the show's age because, back in the 80s, who the f**k cared if some Mexican got offended by something from a kid's cartoon?, but there's a thing about the Mexican Stereotype people have to remember; there was once someone out there who fitted this stereotype in order to start it..

I'm curious as to what Mexican people would actually think of Izzy. I mean Speedy Gonzalez was taken out of Looney Toons because Americans thought he was offensive to Mexicans, but Mexican people actually loved the character and wanted him back on the show.

Also to address the point of him being a tool for moving the plot along, that really just the Tug's supporting cast in a nutshell. When did Sally Seaplane, Little Ditcher, Mighty Moe, Skuttlebutt Pete, the coastguard, or the fire chief ever really do anything of major consequence?

@@bewarethekelpie5390 Oh, I know! I still remember when they were struggling with the Dutchess, the Fire Tug (don't know if he was the Chief or not) responded "I can't help, I'm needed in case of fire.." and I was like "Rescue is also part of your duty and that's what they're asking you to do!"

Hi, Mexican here. Mexican stereotypes dont offend Mexicans as americans think they will or should because they're so exaggerated and non applicable. Theres a fallacy that the stereotypes Americans made of us must come from derivative actions and standards but that's often times not true except for the skin you put on a bland 'representation' of what youd call a Mexican character. We also have a great sense of humor so why would we be mad at all? Offensive humor is fine. The only line that crosses it is the point where the joke never ends. Where you dont think theres any difference between a caricature and portrayal. Mexicans love speedy Gonzales because his focus isnt detrimental or derogatory towards mexicans. Hes a cartoon character and we can differentiate fiction from reality. This issue you and I are speaking of is almost exclusively an issue of the United states. North and south America excluding the states dont have these tensions. The drama and out rage won't be coming from us. At worst, a character like you've spoken of will just be as boring and forgettable to us as it is for you if not moreso.

New subscriber! Was wondering if you know about the “Tugs Continued” project. A bunch of devoted fans are working on a fan made continuation of the series and so far they’re making a lot of good progress! By the way, there’s a similar Canadian show called “Theodore Tugboat”. You know that one?

I feel that this video is decent. But, I feel you are being shifted to the wrong side by those fake news sites that say stuff like "OoOoooOOOo! THomaS iS SO scaRy!" And you should try to rewatch the original 5 seasons Plus, I feel that your extended talk about Izzy Gomez was kind of pointless. Yes, he may be a stereotype. But, I have to deal with stereotypes myself. But, I deal with them, even if a few are a little hurtful. Also, the TUGS: the Exhibition is full of pretty scummy people

Did you know that britt try to sue tugs for the dumbest reason ever and that is……. It is too similar to Thomas the tank engine and friends even though tugs came before Thomas the tank engine and friends was a thing and Britt has try to sue other things like the bluebell railway because she thought that stepney was her character and the talyllyn railway because they were using copyrighted characters even though Audrey give them the copyright I did hear that hit entertainment try to do the same but didn’t do it and the tugs were going to be in Tatmr but didn’t i think the reason why is because that britt lost to a star fleet of tugs I don’t know what went throughout Britt’s head but I do know that bts she was money hungry for the money that she thought that she would win but didn’t

Uhhh, Thomas came in 1984. TUGS came in 89.
