For your NEXT galley redo (haha, who knows?), you can save even more time & frustration with handle location if you make a drilling template instead of using tape: 1. Using a piece of 1/4" plywood, maybe 4" x 8", drill holes parallel to one of the long edges to match the holes in the handles 2. Attach a small strip of 1x2 material, parallel to the other long edge of the plywood so the holes will be at the correct distance from the door's or drawer's edge when you place the strip against that edge. 3. Now you can simply hold the strip along the door or drawer edge, and drill away! 4. The only measuring you'll have to do will be the distance from the drawer or door corner to a reference on the template, such as a mark along the template's edge that is centered between the holes in the plywood. You guys are the best--keep up the great work! 😀👍

I always watch all the way to the end, because you never know what you might miss. I must say I'm usually a fan of natural wood but with the damage that was done and all to the existing woodwork what you did was probably the best solution and I really liked the final product. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give Jetty a pat on the head for me, maybe even a milkbone.

Sierra the Galley looks so much better! Honestly, paint was the only way to fix those spots without gutting it and rebuilding it. Rebuilding it would have been way too much cost, work, and time! The boat looks fantastic!

Little tip for putting handles on a stack of drawers. Install the drawers and make a vertical line on all the drawers at once. If you mark and install each drawer by itself, the handles may not line up perfectly. If you do them as a stack all at once even if the drawers don't line up perfectly the handles will and that is what your eye will drawn to. BTW it looks great. You did a great job. Congrats.

You have to paint the inside of those cabinets and drawers. It's the little things that stick out and will make it look so much better when u open and close cabinets and that will make a big difference when u go to sell the boat to.

Well done, the galley looks so clean and fresh! I know some would rather have had the veneer replaced throughout, but this was a fantastic solution to galley with previous water damage. And it’s not like the veneers couldn’t be replaced down the line anyways by a future owner if they desired

Awesome job on the galley ! For your gaping hole, depending on the thickness of the wall, you might try an old work box from a home supply store. Or a metal box with Madison clips. If you want to get rid of the hole, screw a strip wood behind the wall. screw a patch piece of wood in the hole of the same general size and thickness. Your awesome feathering epoxy should fill the gaps pretty well

Really nice upgrade on the kitchen sink faucet you guys. Très chic! Now Billy can use the hose feature to fill his coffee machine too! For the longest while I continued to fill my pot from the tap and poured the water into the coffee maker until I saw a friend use the hose and filled it directly. Whaaaat? Some old habits are hard to break :) The galley looks totally amazing. Yeah!

7:09 - forgive me if you already know this little 'trick': using a nail, punch a few holes in the 'gutter' of the top of your large paint cans... that allows paint to seep back into the can, instead of paint spilling all down the outside of the can - wasting paint, and creating a mess. Good luck.

I agree, it would have been way too expensive in time and materials to repair all the veneer, and let's be honest; it looked dated. Sierra did a marvelous job improving and modernizing the galley.
@techeddie9035
@techeddie9035 Жыл бұрын
@@carolbarranco838 It probably was "expensive" veneer -- it's all relative. When there's likely to a lot of moisture, it is never a good idea to use solid hardwood (except maybe teak or similar woods that don't need finishes) because it is not nearly as stable as layered material. Even if there's not a lot of moisture to be concerned about, this is why some good antique desks will perhaps include a few panels that are poplar (one of the most stable hardwoods) covered with actual walnut, oak, or even cherry veneer. Crazy but true.

Hi guys, love your channel and the work you put in is just amazing. Sierra, please don’t allow your hair to hang loose when using power tools.
