Brilliant. I've been making pastryless quiche for some time now, in an attempt to cut down the calories, but I guess that's just a fritatta/ tortilla, really; this is much more satisfying. PS loved the final exhortation!

Titlis Busy Kitchen Dear titli , I love your channel and your work. You have inspired me to bake and to cook chicken properly! I made this recipe and won a competition at school for the healthiest meal. I was hoping you could do a video on how to make a chocolate ball with caramel sauce. It might make me win another contest! Thanks Zain 👍

Hi Titli, can I add to the potato-month wishlist please? I'm looking for a good solid reliable potato topped pie recipe. I love the flavour when potato slices on top of a pie crisp up and brown slightly, but I don't have a good go-to pie filling recipe which works well with this topping. Anything beefy, rich and delicious, or even chicken based would be fab if you're up for it? Bet you have a great recipe already in your bag of tricks which will compliment a nicely crisped potato slice pie topping?

I made this today - it was delicious! Two things: a) The sides of my pie shrank! After the first bake, the sides shrunk in and DOWN. It was barely deep enough to fill. What did I do wrong? I see yours didn't. b) Can the base be frozen pre (or post) baking? Thank you!

I'm going to make this today! Was needing a way to use up the dill I have before it gets funky.. Don't have tuna, so will use canned salmon. OMGosh...am I breaking the rules??? Your reply re: the red or green pepper is classic. Couldn't stop laughing. You "done" it again....made me laugh, that is. Good day to ya!

What are baking beens And what do they do
@SilverAuk9 жыл бұрын
Maria Quinones You use dried beans as weights to prevent, in this case, the potato from rising. You can't cook these beans after, just keep them for using as weights. Rice can also be used.

Looks very tasty! Even though I don't like tuna, so I'm gonna replace it with another fish. I laughed really hard at: "Don't waste my time by asking me silly questions like: "Can I use green peppers instead of red peppers" and the answer is NO!" Haha
@StephandaSilva9 жыл бұрын
I was checking the end of the video for the final baking time and got to the part where you said it tastes even better when you remember to season it. That's when I realised that, despite my firm intentions, I forgot to season the egg/milk mixture. *facepalm* I hope my wife won't notice.

Interesting putting tuna in a quiche. Question does potato dough really need to be blind baked because when I do a quiche with regular dough, I just cook it with the filling in it so long as I have the oven preheated to 425F first and then bake for 15 minutes to set the crust then turn it down to 375F until it is done. Which I never calculate how long that is, it depends on filling or size of deep dish.My deep dish ceramic pie plate holds 5 eggs and 4 shots of cream with fillings and I can tell when filling is fully cooked in the middle and if needed insert tootpick. Also I think putting a tin foil shield around the edge crust when you baked that would have made the edge crust not as burnt looking. Only time I ever bind bake a pie crust is if I am making a filling that does not require baking like lemon, chocolate pie etc.

***** Blind baking the potato helps to set it, partly by drying it out

Titlis Busy Kitchen Well tomorrow is apple pie baking because of Easter. I have 15 apples left in my cold storage that need to be used up. My cold storage is camping coolers I have in the second storey sunroom that is built on to this ole house and not heated. Been keeping apples, cabbage, potatoes and carrots back there over the winter plus whatever else I can't fit in the fridge. My turkey been in there for 2 days thawing out. I just put it in the fridge today because our temps went up to 20C today and we even had a thunder storm this morning and a couple more T storms coming. Spring is here. Tulips are up out of the ground 4 inches. Hubby bought me green house tulips a couple weeks ago and they are just finished blooming in my back kitchen So the bulbs will get planted in the ground in a couple weeks for next year. Yeah the gift of flowers that keep on giving. He bought me 3 pots of tulips a couple weeks ago for $2.88 a pot that looks like there may be 6 bulbs in each pot to replant.

wait a minute... Isn't this the quiche version of your "Tuna Pasta Bake"?
@TitlisBusyKitchen09 жыл бұрын
EC912 No. Tuna Pasta bake has no potato, shallot, garlic or pepper in it. This has no mushroom soup or pasta in it. The only thing they have in common is a tin of tuna and some cheese and sweetcorn!
@EvanC09129 жыл бұрын
I think the tuna and sweetcorn combination is what really reminds me of the Pasta Bake. :)

hmm - is this like an upside down fisherman's pie?? you know like a shepherd's pie has the taters on top and uses lamb and you put the taters on bottom and used fish - and if you used beef that would make it a cow pie?? oops no - I think a cow pie is something else - oh well this looks good and I think hubby would really like it - gosh Titli you are such a good cook and I bet you don't have to think too hard to come up with good meals

When you say a little water, does that mean the water would not cover the potatoes at all? If yes, then is it more like steaming them? Curious...
