I myself have am a mechanic...master tech by age 27 and fully certified and trained in TIS (toyota factory certifications)...im 30 yrs old now and been working there since I was 16 (day I got learners permit)

+20turboboxer uh no it's really not that hard with a redline. Forged rods and forced induction from the factory. Turbo swap kit and head studs and that's about all you need. Bout 5 grand total including turbo. I own a redline and have researched it. :)

Not at all true, just not tons of interest in the cars, and fwd limits the amount of ppl spending big. This is a car that has been running stock internals and block at 500+hp for well over a year with lots of racing.

+20turboboxer 300 is about the stock blower limit. You can do a turbo swap for 1500-4000 with deals and such, and while the grey car holds the stock block record at 541whp on topspeeds dyno, up to 450 can be done for under 3500 if you are smart, and turbo swaps sell for 6000-10000 usually.

He just needs stickier tires and he'd easily be hitting 160+mph. Sounded like he kept breaking traction once boost spooled up in the higher rpms

you don’t even have to be rich to build something like this 2.0 ecotecs are dirt cheap to build and relatively easy to work on (except the saab ones they’re still cheap to build just a pain in the ass to work on)

Yeah his time was quicker but any way hes going against 1 million dollar car a ion was like 13-16k. Just goes to show you put money into a car do it right you can beat anything.

+Ian Thompson It's not like the Ion was keeping up or would have even stood a chance against that 918 if they launched at the same time, and that's not to disrespect the Ion either, it's impressive for what it is. The fact that the Ion had a 3 bus length lead and the 918 still managed to pass it before the finish line was more impressive in my opinion. I didn't think he was going to be able to redeem himself with that failed launch, but because racecar lol

Either he's running low RPM'S or he's not running it to full RPM'S. Either way the exotics would have the launch on him. He's running FWD.

smoky bandaid its a GM product and i have never had good luck with gm o2 sensors, electrical failures left and right all sorts of the little shit constantly failing. I've had toyota's and honda's take severe beatings and never left me stranded. I'm talking rev matching heal toe whole nine yards beat the shit out of and never failed. Been around chevys my whole life. I like fwd for driving personally but i love honda/acura for driving

I can see where you are coming from, Ive never had an issue with Gm electrical, and infact really love how they use both MAF, and MAP for tuning, but Ive seen some janky wiring from the factory on gm vehicles so I understand. As for FWD, I have a love/hate with it. I love the way it pulls from a roll, hate it in snow (control is limited) or from digs. Personally I drive a redline because I like having a body that cannot rust, plus being easy to work on, I really love these cars.

I live in ny and i love fwd in snow. Its predictable, but i have special driving skills that allow me to do things most people will never be prepared for. When i got my first fwd i took it out and forced myself to lose control and learn how to regain it. I took a long time incorporating track racing into daily driving uncontrolability. Now i have a son 2 months away from being a part in this world and i want to teach him everything i know. Hondas are cheap easy parts interchangeable so i can build a race team with him as time goes on

GM Performance used to top 1000whp with a Cobalt back in the day. He may be on the stock LSJ block, crank and rods.

Its originally supercharged lsj motor that is also in the cobalt ss from 05-07 and its been turbo swapped zzperformance.com is the place to go for the go fast parts
