Do you want to prompt faster in MJ? Is generation time slowing down your productivity? Midjourney dropped some cool new tools in April 2023, and they didn't make a big fuss about it. --Repeat and Permutations {P} These tools might be just the ticket to crank up your productivity.
I usually show you these tools in a short video, and I did make one about the repeat tool. But it took me a beat to get the hang of the permutations tool, Let's dive in and see why these sneaky little tools could totally change the way you create in MJ!

1:27 - I'm on the basic plan and I got this message: Job action restricted Batch jobs are only available on standard and pro plans, with fast mode enabled.

Yes. They have been restricting some of these features. They eat a lot of your hours. On a basic plan, 4 or 5 big permutations would probably wipe your hours. But they have been expanding. These used to be only available on the Pro plans.

Just keep using relaxed mode. These new features will finish your pro fast mode subscription in 2 days. Thats how they're gonna make you pay for more subscriptions every month. Very smart of them.

Jenn, another amazing video, thank you. I've spent hours w/new prompts prior to noticing this video and I have a couple quick comments: In your parameter permutations example, you don't need to repeat the params unless you're altering params as well. For example: Instead of {--s 0, --s 500, --s1000} you could use *--s {0,500,1000}* When you need to mix params you're only able to reuse the "--", eg: *--{v 4,v 5,niji 4,niji 5}* Another subtle point -- you mentioned testing permutations to determine keywords effect; in that case, seeds become important because each permutation is a different seed otherwise. *logo for camera, {vector art, logo art} --{v 4,v 5,niji 4,niji 5} --seed 2222* Also, for random YT readers, this is limited to 10 permutations. Jenn mentioned this in the video, I only clarify because she stated "40 images" (in that case she's referring to 10 outputs * 4 images each). Thanks again for another great video.

Great tips! Yes, you can do the alternate formatting for parameters. Probably saves a bit of typing. Good point about the seed. Though we are writing just one prompt, Midjourney teases out the permutations and runs them separately. Each will have a different seed.

I knew about the permutations, but somehow I had missed out on the "repeat" parameter. Still, too bad we can't use them with fast mode, but I understand why. Thanks again for sharing information and so many examples! 👍

The tools are only for fast mode. I think Midjourney technically loses money on relaxed. Last month I had to do a lot of ranking to have enough fast hours at the end of the month!!

This is a great vid. I've seen these features in the MJ user guide, but I didn't recognize their power. @1:16 choosing V3 presented the window for submitting a form, blah, blah. I've seen this form when I choose one of the 4 choices presented by a /describe image. How do you get this window that allows you to change the prompt for the variations? I rarely use variations anymore because the variances are so slight. Perhaps there will be a small adjustment to the placement of an arm or another tiny element. having the ability to modify the prompt for a variation would be incredibly powerful.

I think you're talking about Remix. To open this window with variations... in the prompt bar type /Prefer Remix and click enter. It should turn on the Remix mode. Then this window appears when you click variation and you can change the prompt. Search my channel. I have a video on Remix.

Batch permutations only works on standard and pro plans

Yes. The basic plan only has about 3 hours. You'd blow through that really fast if you're not careful.

Midjourney should begin making plans to raise their 25 free limit right away. As an alternative, AI technologies like Blue Willow will become more and more popular over time. Blue Willow, in my opinion, will be the one to take down MidJourney

It should work on the Pro and the Standard plans. If you have Basic, you could easily wipe all your hours out with a few big permutations.

How many characters can you put into a prompt before Midjourney just stops listening? It does seem to have a sometimes short attention span. Maybe not with the commands in the video, but in general. Always wondered about that...

I haven't hit a limit in fact. Your prompts can be as long as you want (I guess). But you've got a great point about when the AI stops listening. It has a short attention span and takes details as suggestions.

it would be awesome, but it would need to be updated with every new version of MJ, which would be rough. Even now with MJ v5 being the main new version, there are test versions beyond v5 and the niji and other variations of 5. maybe someone can manage to create an ongoing udemy course that changes as the MJ changes.

@@MakingPhoto I feel like it is impossible to keep up with the pace of release of AI tools. People have created so many plugins for various websites that use AI. Even YTers whose channels are dedicated to daily updates on AI in general are barely able to mention a tiny fraction of the new tools. The pace of development is insane.

Midjourney runs completely through Discord right now unless you are a Super User (over 10K generations) Did you try going through your MJ website? www.midjourney.com/account/

@@MakingPhoto Yes, I did try that, and I had over 14K generations (luckily, due to your advice, I had downloaded most of them - thank-you 🙏!) . Still no reply from Midjourney, and it's been two days; so far, not a peep from them. Discord says they are on it, but no help has come of it...☹😞 I will have lost about two weeks of very long hours of work (mostly mock ups to sell with). Some of my best mock-ups will be lost if I can't regain control. I feel devastated.

Because it's not. The style of Midjourney is COMPLETELY different. I use both MJ and SD. I have to prompt very differently between the two.

This guy tested out the effect of punctuation and concluded it doesn't matter much (see kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abyUfbWqmteuZWw.html) so probably you could skip putting in forward slashes (4:29). I haven't tried it but if it works it would save some needless effort.

Thanks. I'll take a look. I assume he just left out all punctuation. The way I've shown you is the way MJ laid it out in their user manual. I'll run a few tests.
