The Air Filter/Intake setup isn't permanent; I didn't realize how "in the way" it was until I put the actual air filter on. I'm currently in the process of coming up with a solution by slightly moving the whole turbo setup, + fabricating a 180 degree intake pipe so that it faces forwards. E-mail me, or contact me through my website (doctor-motorcycle.com) if you have bike you either want built completely, or you want to have a turbo setup made. As of right now, I'm only going to be making kits for bikes that are installed/tuned by myself at my home shop here in Arizona. There's too many variables in these early stages to start sending kits out. I won't be charging extra for install/tune on these early kits BTW, it will be $3,999 out the door. I can do Virago 920's + 1100's as well, and in fact, the next build I'm doing is going to be a Virago 920, probably a twin turbo setup 😁

Don't run the exhaust in the direction of your knee. I did that on my Turbo TR1/Virago and that was one of the worst decisions in my build as within seconds you feel like suffering from sunburn due to the radiant heat off the exhaust.

Miss my 2002 X1 Buell..great fun riding bike. The key to Buells, is replace every gasket with James Gaskets, and she'll never leak again. Also, fully float the headers or you will snap exhaust studs, I had three snap before figuring this out. I had the full race kit and it was damn fast. People used to say they didn't have any top end speed...BS...I had mine stock gearing redlined in 5th GPS indicated 154MPH. My Ducati ST4S ABS never came close to that, 135ish.
@mikeborrelli193

I used to see truck racing on UK circuits. (A car series I was involved with was a support event to the UK Championship). It involved semi tractor units with water-cooled brakes belching steam as they ran three-abreast into corners at Brands and elsewhere.... Spectacular beyond words This is my image of a Buell... A two-wheeled racing semi. It shouldn't race, but it does. It shouldn't be fast, but it is. And this one (this build) is insane. Sublime. Like Dorothy Paget's Blower Bentleys, this unusual monster is a step past logic and into magic. My disdain for almost everything Harley is great. But this is something else. Chapeau!

Did you ever see truck racing at Donington? I did Barry Sheen’s marketing when he was racing for Sherwood DAF. Happy days. Ride safe. Peace
@BanjoLuke1
@BanjoLuke1 Жыл бұрын
@@G58 Ha ha... No. I've never been to Donnington. Never ridden there, never been as a spectator. It's a track that exists for me only on TV. Sheene was in and out of trucks before I ever saw one race. I imagine he may have been a part of the reason for Stavros Parrish getting onto trucks.... Parrish was a fixture when I occasionally saw them tearing up the track and biffing the tyre walls a few years later. I was never there for the trucks, but they certainly did grab the attention. Just awesome.

2008's are a good year to boost because they have a much stronger bottom end. I think the small and big ends of the rods are bigger, along with being lighter too. I'd love to build a turbo XB, it's just hard to find someone who paid $3,800 for a bike that wants to sink $4k into it.

I probably would have torqued that turbo impeller nut down and put some loc-tite on it... Then again I guess the reverse pattern nut will take care of it coming loose though... I think those little turbo impeller's can spin up to 300,000 RPM though.. You made all the work look so easy though as you know your way around with all your tools and mechanical experience..

I wish you had narrated/ explained the procedure - draw-over or flow-over - how you equalised pressures in the carb by tapping those extra connections - did you re-jet your carb? - enlightened us as to what tubing went where - what turbo did you use and why?

I used to leave out that stuff, but it seemed dishonest to do it like that. I noticed a lot of people saying "you make it look too easy" when in reality, sometimes I want to throw a wrench across the room too. Like when the paint cracked and I had to re-strip/sand/wash it for the second time. The "little issues" never stop, but your ability to navigate them becomes much better.
