Over time we figure out what works and what doesn't, Castle ESC's are awesome along with other stuff, below are a few thing I'd say are pretty good for most scaler stuff. I'm not selling, just giving recommendations

Just picked one of them up Joe and put it on my x-max cuz my stock one had an issue and I absolutely love the thing still trying to figure out all the settings on it cuz I'm used to the stock radios but man thanks for your explanation of what some of them settings do it really help me out

I try to keep up with this Series of yours on the GT5...... The more I see, the more I want one!!! It'll take me quite a while, but I've GOT to have one! I'm older, haven't been Pro in over a Decade, I've stopped caring about what's "fair" or not in RC!! Those Gyro/ABS features in the Receiver are a real game changer. They've been out for a while, but I haven't seen them all together, in a more Budget Friendly Radio!! I would easily break my newest Rule - can't spend more than $40.00 for a Radio anymore...... But I gotta TRY to get this one! 😱😵 The ONLY thing I haven't been impressed with so far, was when you showed the Manual on setting ABS, and the Book stated "Setting *Breaking* Force"!!! 😬😱😱😱 Yeah, OK, most English Speaking people today weren't taught the difference between Automotive *Brakes,* and *Breaking* some object, often an accident. Now, I've been giving up my Grammar Nazi duties over time.... The problem is just *TOO* big.... BUT, that's a BOOK!! People refer to those for information and education - NOT MIS-education!!! OK, off my Soapbox. Outstanding Radio! As I've been finding usual with your Channel - excellent Review!! 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 Carmine 🚂

I got the Flysky GT5 which is the same radio. I haven't been able to use it as the weather in my area has been wet and cold. I got it because it has 6 channels and a bunch of features but is simple to adjust and it was only $90. I bought mine from RCNetwork on eBay by the way.

Congrats on the radio! When you get to drive it mess with the steering gyro. You must mount the receiver flat on the chassis. Can’t mount it vertical and expect it to work right, I tried.

Wow. I currently have a Futaba 4PV in my SMT10 but they only made a gyro for drift cars. It needs a gyro though due to horrible torque steer and high center of gravity. This is the first radio I've seen that allows the gyro to be active with four wheel steering. The only thing holding me back is the lack of telemetry.

Exocaged RC ya they r the same, I got mine yesterday n trying to figure out why when I put in crawl mode my back wheels turn all the way left,when I turn all the way right it just straightens them out,when I turn crawl mode off the return to center,idk maybe I’ll find solution in manual?

hmmm, when I was messing with mine and if I scrolled the wrong way the rear servo did that on mine. I think the menu said off or something like that.

You can make practicsl effective changes to SVC and ABS without turning on the vehicle. Just use remote and use the setting you are changing. In real time time it shows you the signal you are using so you can see what adjustments will do (*or are doing) before trying them.

Great video. Now some questions. I have a TRX4 can I bind the radio to the traxxas receiver or do I need to use the BS-6 receiver? If I have to use the BS-6 will channel 4 work the diffs selection and channel 3 hi low gear? Can you bind to different receivers for each model? Thanks

Great video thought about getting one of these can you set the steering mods up to cycle off one of the buttons where you can switch from the different story mode on the floor or do you have to go on the menu. Also is this pretty easy to use with them steering

You always have to go trhu the menu. You have 2 other options, set it on one of the 2 top knob or the thumb 3 position swich

Thanks for the review I'm looking at one of them for a 1/8th Exceed Mad Torque..Crawling with 4ws when needed, is it easy to switch back and forth 2ws-4ws?

You have to get into the menu to change the setup. A hacked 8ch GT3c is much easier to select steering modes but the gyro in this makes 4ws almost easy to drive at speeds.

With the 4WS...do you have 2 servos in to 1 channel? Or Servo 1 in Ch2...and Servo 2 in Ch3? I'm setting up a 4WS on my Tamiya Dynahead and wasn't sure if I need to use a Y lead in to one channel? Cheers. 👍

Ch1 for front servo. Ch2 for ESC and CH3 for rear servo

hi "exo" and again thx. for this (and the first part) presentation. mounted everything now in my JLB 21101, and tested also ABS. all the rest including gyro runs nicely, but looks like ABS is not properly usable, because pulsing applies both to braking and reverse. makes no sense, if the car is "caughing" while driving backwards, as it can be seen here. can´t see any workaround to solve that properly - except if i switch off the "brake function" in the ESC (which is not neccessary or helpful either) but mainly only drive forward almost all the time. in my case, i see ABS as non usable; only way might be to adjust the trigger point high, so pulsing only kicks in at full (

The abs is mostly for racers who don’t use reverse. Dual rate adjusts both ends of servo or esc at same time. End points are adjustable on each end of servo throw. So say you have the end points set at 80/100 on steering servo. Turning the dual rate down will bring them both down the same amount so you keep the same difference in adjustment between left and right. Then when you need it full again, turn dual rate up and the settings are where you originally set them.

yes, same conclusion concerning ABS from my side; tried to adjust it with the triggerpoint as mentioned and that´s kind of working - if needed or wanted. clear now about DR and EPA, thx a lot for your answer & kind regards from austria!

Can you assign the different four wheel steering modes to one of the buttons so you don’t have to go into the menu and you can cycle through them on the floor

Hello my friend ! , have a question about the 4w steering , on what channel do you connect the 2 servos ??, on the manual it said that the rear wheel steering servo goes on the 3rd channel , but what if I want to use that 3rd channel button on the radio to turn some lights, it wil mess up with the rear steering ??, Thank You !!

Really disappointing they didn’t put the crawl feature on a switch. Even the cheap 24 scales have a straight button to change crawl modes.

What setting would I want to use if I want to use the Gyro and throttle stability control with a 4 Wheel Dr. buggy? Will it work OK with that kind a four-wheel-drive and not a crawler

I’ve tried the throttle control and have not been impressed with it in any vehicle. The steering gyro is nice and on an Ebuggy I’d say maybe 30%. If you are racing it at a track, most of the time using a gyro is not legal. Bashing around and general play run it anyway you want.

When I was messing with it it was a menu thing which makes the 4ws options a bit cumbersome. But heck it runs so well in normal 4ws with the gyro I don’t even see a need to switch it up on the fly.

Chad Morgan if you have a castle Mamba X, Mamba Monster X or Mamba Micro X esc yes you can change drag brake from the radio. Not with any other esc. Yes you can turn off the gyro in the settings.

Mc De Leeuw 2wd 4wd doesn’t really matter. I don’t like the loss of throttle when turning.

Yeah that’s about right, my hacked GT3c started doing the same thing. Had to get a new one and no the GT3c won’t bind to the gt5.

It's weird that the manual say BRK is brake amount. It's not. Max or Top of brake pulse/brake amount is set by your esc or your tx/rx. BRK sets the amount of brake at the BOTTOM of the pulse. Example. You have BRK set to 100%. 100% is no or zero brake. So it pulses between your max brake force and zero brake force. This will be really loud pulses slamming full on and off. Not best performance. If you have BRK at 0% then the bottom of the pulse is the same at the top and you wont have any pulse or brake reduction at all. I like %40. Gt5 is great, it shows real time the signal change you receive from adjustments so go to the ABS BRK setting, hold brakes down all the way, and adjust the BRK value as you do this. You will see it's the bottom of the brakes pulse setting its changing. Your brakes arent pulsing between off and a value you set in abs... *Your ABS is a brake reduction pulse that pulses between your full brake amount and a chosen reduced brake % and you can choose that to be 0 or 100%. Then theres the other settings yup.

Barbarian Chassis, Madforce axles, ofna Center Diff, 1900kv 1/8 motor, castle mamba Monster X esc, Turnigy 959 servos, gen1 Madforce tires. Also has Yeti links and Tekno Ebuggy shocks. So it’s pretty much custom built.
