I absolutely love these US $10 and $20 liberty coins! They are 90% gold and have history attached to them that a US gold eagle never could. Just imagine pulling out a $10 gold piece from your pocket at a local mercantile store to pay for your goods. This coin went on horseback from place to place!
The reason I don’t do them nearly as often is because they tend to have an issue when they are being forged. Sometimes they get a slightly rippled look to them. It almost looks like a hammered finish. It all has to to with how the coins were initially made. But I decided a slightly rippled look doesn’t look bad and the history attached makes it all the better for me. So I think these are finally going on the website!

I really wanted to add diamonds to this one so I decided to replace the stars that represent the 13 original colonies with 1.5 mm VS quality diamonds. They really sparkle in the sun! I wish I could have captured that in video but I live in the Pacific Northwest so the sun gets more rare this time of year :)
I hope you guys enjoyed this video!

Hey Skyler - I notice you don’t ever worry too much about leveling the coin before the first fold. Is that because you bank on the Swedish wrap straightening it out?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint 8 ай бұрын
No the leveling of the coin in the folding has very little to do with it coming out even. Getting it stretched out until the Reeded edge is touching the stretcher is where you make it even :) That is a really common thought though.0

What stone setting technique is that?
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint 8 ай бұрын
I was planning on flush settling nag them but the left over star detail made the surface too rough for that so I decided to make 4 beads to hold them in place. I’m not sure the name of that. It’s almost bead setting but not quite.

Thanks, I've been flush setting CZs and would like to learn another technique like what you did here.

Really great work, but I confess as a coin collector this was painful to watch. It was a coin in really great condition, and I know almost all of its numismatic value is gone.

What a waste. So much bullion gold available and you destroyed a coin in quite good condition worth several times the ring. Shame!
@CoinRingsfromTheMint
@CoinRingsfromTheMint 8 ай бұрын
The gold didn’t disappear :) Even if you can’t appreciate the ring and the history it engenders, you could still have the gold value which isn’t much different than the coin itself.
