Turning a TC Voicelive 3 into an Extreme with this free hack?

Today I will show you how I modded my TC Helicon Voicelive 3 and managed to run it with the Operative System of the Voicelive 3 Extreme. I will go through the settings and showcase if the hacked VL3 is entirely identical to the VL3X after the mod. This tutorial also addresses the "white screen of death" issue and helps you fix it. We will also learn how to backup the internal SD card of the vocal harmonizer effect with this straightforward step-by-step guide.
Could this hack turn the VL3 into the best vocal effects for gigs?

Is there a way to download the files for the original sd card software online in case the one in the unit is corrupted and also if I want to replace it with a bigger one? Or is that the link you provided?

Nope. Unfortunately, there isn't an SD file around, and TC's customer service doesn't have a great reputation after their acquisition. That's why I was suggesting to create your own backup copy just in case. Thanks so much for passing by ;)

Greetings, my SD card has died, due to a power surge. As a consequence the screen goes blank. I already took it out and used my PC to read it, and nothing, it is totally broken. Would you be so kind as to tell me where I can find the images to burn on a new one and recover my drive. I don't care if it is the VL3 or VL3X img. Thank you

Did anybody manage to use really 128GB? My cloned card shows just the 16 GB partition plus 112GB unallocated space.

Hi Recently I watched VL3 and EXTREME. I compared the electronic diagrams and the interior of both effects. They are identical. If EXTREME software runs on VL3, why is there no Backing Track option?

That's interesting! I've read somewhere on the "Voicelive Fans" FB group that it's something to do with the serial numbers. If I remember correctly, the FW will read the serial and (I guess) it will lock/unlock certain features accordingly. I was also surprised to find out that the backing tracks wouldn't work. If you manage to figure something out, please let us all know. Thanks for passing by 😉

@@AleSuggests If it depends on the serial number, it would need to be changed to confirm this. I haven't found such an option anywhere. I wonder where it is saved. This can be a tough one.

Hi Ale, I had a problem with my VLX. When I plugged it into my computer and used VoiceSupport2 it shows up as a VL3 and when I update it to the latest 366 firmware I lose all the backing track functions. I thought it might have had something to do with the SD card, but have found that for some reason my VLX has an invalid serial number and no manufacture date. From what I've been told, VoiceSupport2 and the firmware determines if your unit is a VL3 or VLX by looking at the serial number when it loads. VL3s apparently have serial numbers that start with 145xxxx and the Extremes have numbers that start with 17xxxxxx. The serial number on my unit starts with 28xxxxx, so unless I can change the serial number or get a firmware 336 version for an extreme that doesn't look at the serial number, then I have to stay with the factory firmware which is version 311. It doesn't effect my VLX operation, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and found a solution. Keep up the good work cheers Frank

@@coverband8875 - No I haven't found a solution yet. Apart from showing as a VL3 on voicesupport 2, my VLX has been working brilliantly. So I hesitate to tinker with it.

Have a VL3 (not VL3X) and just booted up after writing to the 128G SD and it’s exactly the same storage amount. Though it’s still working normally so that’s at least cool. Is there a way to have it realize there is more storage now? Or, can someone send me the VL3X software .img file?

As I specify in the video, there is no need to use the Extreme image. There won't be any added benefits. The real benefit is to clone the VL3 image (non Extreme) to a new bigger SD card to have a ton of extra gigabytes and to create a total backup. I may have missed something my VL3 is not registering the extra space but everything else works great after the upgrade!
