I just bought a VL3 and I been watching a lot of videos on how to use this unit. Dave you are the first one that showed me how to begin to use Looping, by actually showing what each button does, and why I would want to do it a certain way. Excellent teaching, great detail without the high tech side! You have given me something I can actually use. Keep showing us more.....Thank you Dave!!

You have a very nice way about you that helps people learn, calmly at a reasonable pace. So many videos on KZfaq rush through the process, so quickly, frustration is almost guaranteed. I have to think you would also make an excellent school teacher. The idea is getting students to master the concepts, not just spit them out, quickly. Excellent job. I commented recently on your video for the new Boss Looper but I now feel (For me) the VL3X really has all I need so thanks again. Awesome video Dave as always. Really love what you do and it so helps. Feel like I've learnt a whole new approach to my playing. You've been an inspiration! That is so cool to actually visualise how you apply the different options in looping. I'm still learning the craft of looping so for me that was super useful of taking it back to basics. I think one of the things is when things do go wrong you can quickly hold the erase button and keep recording or redubbing if you're doing overdubs without having to go through lots of menus. Been able to do that automatically when you perform live will make a huge difference. The other tool is the start stop button and you can keep on playing. So I guess if you do build your layers up on B and stop it you could just go back to A and keep playing or just go solo. If you do an overdub and it goes wrong so you redub, do you need to start from the beginning of the loop? You're a legend

I have a half-hour acoustic gig next month and I am learning my (new to me) VoiceLive 3 Extreme. I would really like to be able to set dedicated buttons on the Switch 6 (or the Extreme if you recommend it), so I can easily switch the tracks on and off while playing and singing. I'm just not sure if it would be better to use the loop button on the Extreme and use the Switch 6 for switching on bass guitar and other things I should map to it. I would appreciate any guidance you can give, since you obviously know how to use the VoiceLive 3 in a live setting. Thank you. Looking forward to more videos. I have been playing acoustic and electric since 1974 but your playing challenges and inspires me to keep striving for more. I am more in love with music now at 60 than I was at 24!!!

Thanks for the helpful video. Two weeks ago I had a kitchen water pipe rupture and the water went downstairs into my music studio over the majority of my sound equipment and our four acoustic guitars. Needless to say I'm overwhelmed with finding replacement gear. On that note, I'm looking at a Takamine P3DC as a replacement guitar and noticed yours is a Takamine. How do you like it, and I see the top is quite worn by your arm and the pick, and it looks quite weathered. Is that normal for that guitar manufacturer or a result of decades of playing it? Only reason I ask is my washburn was about 30 years old and had no such wear and weathering, and it causes me to be concerned about getting a Takamine guitar if they wear and weather so easily.

Great tips. How did I not know that the layer button undoes an overdub? You’re bang on with needing to know all the button functions. I still need to look and that screen is awefuk to see in some situations. One question - I like to record both guitar and vocals. Any tips on not having the sound of the button presses getting into loops? Many thanks David.

thank you - without that erase tip I would have sold it right away and kept my TC Acoustic Play + Switch-3 (RECORD - PLAY - STOP).... I do exactly what you are describing: I record while playing and singing the song to have a verse or chorus ready for a bit of soloing at the end. waitaminute - it's not professional to hear the beginning of the loop playing before erasing when you hold the record button down!!

Hi , I'recently viee some of your videos and they're great ! I see you've used duferent loopers ... I'm starting with loops and play with a multiefects (hotone ampero) that has s simple track looper. Now I wdnt more and I'm searching for new loopers ... I've been specs , reviews snd demos and I'm so confused. I was nearly convinced to adquire a ditto x4 but suddently I have the chsnce to get a voicelive 3 at a verygood price. By now I just want ti use it as a looper ... Wich is the best option ? I'm very hsppy with tge sound of my guitar (maintly acoustic) thriugh Amperi and I'm not gonna sing ... Just for some vocal loop ir chorus ... Csn you help me ?! It is worth to spent about 300 euros in a voicelive 3 just as guitar looper ? Thx a lot !!

Thank you for this video! There is one thing I just don´t get right. When I´m deleting a layer in the looper by holding f.i Harmony for loop A, a short sound from the loop plays before it deletes. This is so annoying! So what I now do when I want to release a loop or layer is to get in to the Util etc to delete it "in silence". But that is such a long way... Do you know what might be the reason of that noise? From what I can tell from your and other tutorial videos the loop deletes "secretely" without any sounding... Would so much appreciate any input on this issue!

Hello, David! Thanks for your nice and clear tutorials! I use VL3 and looper for a few years, so I'm not a noobie in this, but now I ran into a new problem. Never used loop slots and haven't experiences.But now I want to make a premade loop for a gig, because it's to complex for live looping and I don't want to bore the audience. Moreover, I want to switch in this song from guitar to fiddle and won't have time and brain for backing. Anyway, I'm absolutely confused with loop slots and there is very little info about slots in manual. I watched a lot of vids, but no one discusses it in detail and I can't get answers from the forums because VL3 forums are dead practically. It would be great, if you make a detailed tutor about using slots. I have a simple goal now, just want to record a complex loop to B and C track, then save it for given preset. I tried this of course and it was successfull, say on slot 2 , but when I'm going to another preset, it starts with slot 2 also, which is included the recorded loop. Therefore if I want to use looper in this another preset, I have to delete this (but I want to save it for the future) or step back to slot 1. So long for live situation. Is there any way to have a premade loop just for one preset, while the others remain clean. I'm sure there is, but I'm confused. It's not really clear for me. Whereas, in general, this is a little-discussed problem , mean slots, the tutor about this would be pretty niche. Thanks in advance!

hello david. I need your help. I use tc helicon voicelive 3. I record loop A rhythm I record loop B chords. I turn down the loop B volume so that it is less than loop A, but when I re-record it in the same setup after the song is over, the loop B sound is too loud

Thanks for this video. I love singing and harmony thru the vl3. However getting the loop timing just right isnt intuitive for me. So ive avoided it. I often get slight delay between start stop. Its like 1 out of 4 are right Maybe ill push thru my learning curve which is big part. Im just now starting to play with it again.

Why when I do a simple loop I got a tendency to get a weird artifact or being bit out of time at first note at loop repeat point? It seems you never get that problem here. What's my user error? I push the button same way on the first beat as you when starting and finishing loop

Sorry if you've covered this but can I make my voice and guitar come out of the output but only have the guitar go into the loop at the same time? I'm thinking of playing (live) the 1st verse with vocals while recording the guitar chords then playing the guitar loop while I sing the 2nd verse and add other guitar work. I'm guessing it's possible. Hope that makes sense.

Today I'm really sorry that the translator doesn't do much. I only have a rough idea of what was said. But still - a very sympathetic explanation. I have Voicelive Extreme and it has three different modes for the looper - I still haven't understood them.
