RETRO is the new black is a retro channel for retro enthusiasts. The channel features retro computers, game consoles and gadgets from the 1970, 1980 and 1990s as well as new tech for old machines. The videos range from simple unboxing to repairs and sometimes even the creation of new things.
I try to upload two videos a week (one smaller QUICK SHOT video and one longer main Video).

Can't wait to see this case. I towerised my A1200 back in the day and then got a power computing tower with zorro slots that is still in my loft with the blizzard 1260 and picaso iv board.

That lego tip was great, but your case looks beautiful. Hope I will be able to buy it somewhere and put my mini inside it!. Looking forward to the end result on this. I had a look at this on my gotech a while back as well. after looking at the size to soldier I bought another I could direct connect it, hehe. Good work! For me personally Amiga on HDMI-screen, my default choice is OSSC. Best one that doesn't cost too much.

Thanks! The finished result looks AWESOME ... you will see ... at least I think so ... then again I am biased ;-) I found a cheap $30 RGB2HDMI for the A600. That might be Part 3 of 2 ;-)

I do like the ways people are getting Amiga boards and modifying them to their own liking... (like the A500 mini or c64 maxi), adding GoTeck and the like.. I still say it, breaking out the nostalgic zone, because you can not really call it a true Amiga if 90% of it is modded for today's world. But, its still interesting, to see whats possible nevertheless. The HDMI adapter is probably extensive because of "license fees" or something.. If that wasn't needed then the adapter might have been cheaper. I've noticed these things usually are not cheap... same with USB-C, so I always assumed it was soe sort of extra cost that is needed to make it certified.

That's why I like a plain old A500 with a disc drive. But it's still fun to experiment and see what is possible.

What about getting the special code that can be programmed into another FPGA to replace the broken chip.

Cool project. I got a Gotek for my A1200 big box project, then I bought an OLED screen for it. I lost the Gotek just before the screen turned up. Then I lost the screen too. LOL So my Big Box A1200 has built into it a CD ROM, 5 watt stereo speakers, 7 inch LCD screen, front access to the external PCMCIA and the HD CF card, USB mouse, USB keyboard, Composite, VGA and HDMI video out, stereo audio out, MIDI in and out, 12 bit stereo sampler in and 137 MB of RAM But no floppy or Gotek drives. Ha ha. It's a great machine though.

The mystery of disappearing tech. I wonder if it will ever be solved. How can things move between boxes, end up on the bottom of some drawer you never use and many more strange things that happen in the lab ... ;-)

You can use a gbs8200 to a cheap vga to hdmi converter. Would be about 35 euros all-in.

Well ... why not use a connector between the board and the pico PSU? Would be easier to maintain i assume. I would hate to desolder everything just because i had to change the PSU or something like that. Would be easier to assemble and disassemble in the case too perhaps?

Probably right. It's tunnel vision. The original idea was to have the PSU inside. The way it is not I have a PSU inside and one outside ... not very clever.

hey, wolgang...danke für den clip und und deinen kanal...machts spaß!...eine frage: ich hab nen A1200 und aus irgenteinem grund funktioniert mein pcmcia to sd nicht mehr. also keine karte wird mehr erkannt, das selbe mit einem gotek (urversion)...aber die normalen laufwerke und ide funktionieren noch....an was könnte das liegen? evtl...kondis/chip?...hast du /ihr evtl. eine groben tipp wonach ich suchen könnte für mich? schöne vorweihnachtszeit und alles gute, weiterso und sorry fürs zusabbeln...🙂

Hi! Ich weiss, das einige Turbokarten Probleme machen. Ansonsten Gayle oder CIA. Hast du das Board recapped? Wenn nicht würde ich das als erstes probieren. Grüße und Danke fürs Gucken!

@@RetroWK aha, ich hab eine T-karte (MTec T60830/28 RTC) bekommen und das wäre möglich....kann man das beheben, wenn es daran liegt? und danke für den tipp! 🙂!!! schönen abend dir!

@@KrautRocktIst wohl ein bekanntes Problem mit den MTEC-Karten. Die mappen irgendwelchen Speicher in den Bereich des PCMCIA Slots. Man kann da wohl etwas basteln, aber dann muss man 4MB Speicher opfern und/oder einen Schalter da dran löten. Frag mich nicht nach den Details ... hab das nie selbst gemacht.

Have you considered an RGBtoHDMI? Last I saw they're pretty cheap, and give a fantastic picture. You also need to get a Raspberry Pi zero, which have become easier to obtain lately.

auch wenn es frevel ist, ich würde mir das für einen 1200er...oder A2000....wünschen 🙂tolles projekt (ich würde das für live musik verwenden) und respekt vor deinem können, eine tolle idee! was kostet so ein mico netzteil?...schönes teil!! ...dein staunender anfänger...

Danke! Könnte man denke ich leicht für einen 1200er machen ... ich gucke mal. 2000er wird dann eher eine Schrankwand als ein kompaktes Gehäuse.
