Aastha Shah did not let vitiligo define her identity. She is someone many people look up to. She's not just an Instagram influencer; she's also a smart financial analyst at one of India's top banks. But life wasn't always easy for Aastha. She had a rare skin condition called vitiligo, which made her look different from others.
When Aastha was young, she had to take lots of medicine because of her skin condition. It made her childhood harder than it should have been. People in society would make fun of her, and even her friends and family's comments hurt her confidence.
But Aastha didn't give up. She realized that she shouldn't let her appearance decide how she felt about herself. This was a big turning point for her. Instead of letting vitiligo bring her down, she focused on doing well in school and later, in her job.
Aastha also found a way to use social media for good. She started talking about vitiligo and how it's okay to be different. She wanted to show others that having vitiligo or any other condition doesn't make them any less valuable.
Her story is inspiring because it shows that you can overcome challenges and achieve your dreams, no matter what you look like or what others say about you. If you want to learn more about Aastha's journey and how she turned her struggles into strengths, you should definitely check out her talk on Josh Talks. It's a story of courage, resilience, and the power of believing in yourself.

She is strong because she has evenly spread all over body. And she is in a country that defines beauty by fairness of the skin. Getting inspired by these people is just BS. I hope people dont follow richies and get inspired by these kind of influences. Doesnt anyone wonder why she was this much confident when she didnt have evenly spread. She got confident when that became her power "indian benchmark of beauty" fairness.

Even the media houses social media stars are giving her attention only after she became so gorgeous Otherwise people suffering with vitiligo Don't get any compensation from the society and from these median house They know people like these kind of stories like I was ugly now I am good looking so don't be shame for being ugly I was poor very poor and then I become millionaire so don't be shame for being poor Bro i am 5feet 3 inch tall it's not my fault i am not 6 but people don't understand this 1am 20 and i am to carry this hight throughout my life And people society they are what they were I laughed when people on social media and good looking influencers compensate us by saying that Sachin Tendulkar is short Jacki Chan is short 😂😂 Who tell these gays that everyone with 5feet 3 inch or relatable hight cannot be Sachin Tendulkar Even if u asked Sachin and others back than than they want to be 6 feet they will surely say yess I have gone through girls rejecting me coz of my hight , many rejection , and social taught like if you talk to a new person 3rd or 4th topic of discussion will be my hight surely You will find video of young healthy sexy female influencers on yt they support girl for being obese but they are the same who in other video say guys who are less than 5feet 10 not worth of dating This is the society we live in

100% Abosultely agree with you. Rather than appreciating the one who accepted vitiligo in early ages , media are the one who award these girl. I am not saying she is bad, but that is 100% true her confidence and attitude/arrogance came when vitiligo spread all over body making her look like a foreigner. I have a cousin sister with vitiligo and I know her she has locked herself in house doesn't want to go anywhere. She only feels comfortable with us(brother and sister) when she wants go outside. Baki log toh they stare her with bad or arrogance face.

Still in rural India, people with vitiligo are considered kinda 'sin' and not allowed to attend auspicious occasion or allowed to perform religious rites. There are so many myths around this skin condition. We need more awareness around vitiligo and empower ppl facing it.
@VinieStories
@VinieStories 2 жыл бұрын
It's not the case only in rural areas.. Even I had vitiligo but my grandmother never allowed me to play with my aunt's children or even touch their daughters.. My aunts made fun of me and asked my parents to keep heated pan on my skin to burn it .. Even writing this all here makes me cry.. Made me stand in sun continuously for 1-2 hours for almost 6-7 years but my parents were really worried.. They were doing all possible things they could do.. Thanks to my doctor..He said leave your medications otherwise you'd have to face much more than this .. I stopped talking medicines and I swear I forgot even I had vitiligo and started focusing on my personality.. People can't imagine, how bad it could be in a teenage life of any child especially a girl..

She did happen to get lucky to get the very rare 100% Vitiligo coverup as unlike her and including me; 99% of us out there who have Vitiligo have it in patches and dear lord is it such a menace to live with in today's society. But anyways, with age you gain wisdom; if I were in her shoes and would've had the Vitiligo spread all over more evenly; I would've done the same and inspired a lot of others by going on stage and speaking about my struggles but as it stands now in this materialistic world; if you don't stand out from the crowd and are attractive af; you will inevitably not garner the attention that you seek. A bitter & harsh reality which all of us live with especially those who have patchy Vitiligo; wouldn't wish it over my worst enemy.

Easy to say all this when the vitiligo is evenly covered and not everyone can pinpoint that you have vitiligo. But people with vitiligo will always have that insecurity in themselves. No people or motivational speech can help them. If they can accept it then it's good for them but from what I've seen every person with visible vitiligo,not evenly spread like you, But visible. They always feel that sense of insecurity. And nothing in this world can change that

Now, she's become more beautiful after her Vitiligo evenly spreading, nobody can say, she even have Vitiligo. Actually, she's looking very Gorgeous but...... here comes a very big BUT, all that confidence she has now is only because her Vitiligo has evenly spread, I am sure if her Vitiligo remained the way it was earlier, she wouldn't have been on this platform. She's lucky but not all Vitiligo sufferers have that privilege. Anyway, good luck to this girl in future.

I don’t get all the people that are being negative about her, you have to understand that she suffered a lot since childhood because of this skin disease and after a time she realised she can’t control this disease so she stopped trying to control it and eventually this thing spread evenly and made things much better for her. She didn’t try to make herself fair but became fair in the process as she stopped trying to control this disease. You need to understand she stopped medications way before this thing spread evenly in her body and tried to accept herself as she was but God had better plans for her, the same thing for which people made fun of her is now the thing that people call her beautiful for. So yeah blaming her for becoming fair in the process is utter nonsense.

Everything is fine. I have only one problem with her statements. "It was like a nightmare for us but now it is the face of my confidence". So that means fair skin is her confidence. I am born fair . I am so much fair people confuse me with Europeans. But I am definitely not white like her. I am a doctor too. But never ever I uttered those words in my life . She is confident because she is fair cause of even spread of vitiligo. What about those who are not lucky like her. What about those who are dark skinned? That's something to think if you claim to be an influencer.

When I was in 5th grade I was diagnosed with leucoderma. I had white patches under my eyes and nose. I was told it could further spread as vitiligo. I remember all my treatment uv light therapy, tropical ointment and sunbathing. My treatment went on till I was in 9th Grade. I was so over it my white patches under eyes and nose was either changing the pigment nor it was going away so one-day I decided I don't wanna take treatment and told my parents I can't do it anymore I want to leave it alone I stopped taking any treatment and within 6 months it went away. I only got to know in my late 20's now all this time I was misdiagnosed I had pityriasis alba which is very common in brown skin kid's to have. My childhood days was so much suffered had got me traumatized for rest of my life.

You look white, you don't have the patches anymore. You're enjoying your white skin and you are glad that you look better than majority of Indians now. You're making money off it. Because you look like a normal white girl in the Indian society. You have the unfair advantage. For you, you look even better. Of course you don't have that fear of looking ugly anymore. If they were untreatable patches forever or a dark, jungly, hirutism complexion, it would have been a different case. This is why your talk does not hold any power anymore. You do NOT speak for the people. I'm sorry but that's the truth. This doesn't make any difference to those people who can't use cosmetic treatments to look normal again. This is why you shouldn't give lectures on "beauty doesn't make a difference and do not worry and do not care about what anyone thinks". Sounds a lot hypocritical.

Yes definitely she have become white that's the reason she is speaking with this much of confidence. Only black people know how they feel in public or with their white friends around when people say k "are ye tum log kala tika le k kyu chalti ho" even when you walk with confidence they say k "isme kis baat ka ghamand hai" it hurts or you do whole of hard work in any project and your teacher represent someone else who is looking more representable "white skin". It's ironic how people with pretty faces tell the world that it's ok to be ugly or love the way you are. Please stop pretending as if u went thru a lot ask a person whose genuinely mocked and insulted for their looks and not for any condition/disease.

Everyone has their own struggles in life. You are also mocking people with disease saying that it's not a big deal 😑

@@ruparoy8135 I never said disease isn't a big deal. I'm saying she was never really mocked for the way she looked, ask a person who is mocked for how they look. Does anyone call her ugly when now her skin tone is even? No, right?

My story same but yeah just the timing was different. I got it during my pregnancy and never stopped after that.I tried all as u tried,frustrated,cried and finally gave up. Now my skin is evenly spread .Thanks to my husband who gave me excellent support and prepared me to face mean and hateful comments!! Now people hardly recognise i have it but i make sure to tell them i am differently skinned but thats ok!!
