Okay, I really love 1998 furbies, and have taken apart and modded a few myself. But there's a lot of... misinformation? Floating around, that isn't the jokey stuff I don't mind. 1. They CAN'T learn words. What happens is, as they age electronically, their programming shifts from "furbish" (their language, think simlish except with actual word translations) to the furby's set language that depends on place of make and brand: english, japanese, german... 2. Their microphone is very, very simple. It literally can only detect decibel levels, and very inaccurately at that. 3. As their batteries get lower, they sound deeper and slower. That's just the result of less power through the curcuitry. This can also be caused by damage, speakers getting old, wires soldered incorrectly, natural aging of other electronics inside. 4. 1998's are extremely sensitive to falling, and certain furbies were produced in factories with less quality control than others. Bonking them too hard or dropping them can cause different furby "diseases" like MSA (me sleep again repeatedly said after waking then going immediately to sleep), the tilt sensor (literally a few sensors reading where a metal ball is located) being off causing the furby to think its being repeatedly being shaken (causing it to yell), and the painful sight of the eternal wake-up dance, only sometimes fixable by adjusting the screw adjusting it"s cam assembly to the home position... I digress. My point is, they are just pieces of very cool technology, but no, they do not spy on you, record your voice, haunt your children, or send your info to bad actors.

I had two furbys... I'm an only child... I was out numbered but the scariest part was then one of the furbys was found in the washer. I swear it wasn't me. I think one furby tried to kill the other furby. The washer didn't kill it either.

Fairly positive Furbys are the reason I have automatonophobia. Also, you don't "drop" Furbys. You violently throw them at walls at 2am when the scare you awake by making horrific noises from places you swear you didn't leave them.

I customize and collect furbys and this is so cool!?! if you ever need to look closer at the furbys face and mechanisms, there are many tutorials online for removing the skin and shell (tumblr is a good resource as the furby fandom is massive there). Furbys are relatively easy to skin if you're lucky enough to not have too much hot glue so getting to the innards isn't too difficult :)

The original Furby was a strange creature. It literally learned from you, would speak with your accent and inflection, use your favorite phrases. Mine was named WeiLo and learned very quickly how to mimic my voice. My dog would come when he would say "Baybeeeee!"

There I was… 5 or 6 years old… my mom and grandma went through every single KB Toys until they found me a Furby. It had auburn hair like mine and white spots. I tried to figure out how to communicate with it which never worked out. One night after midnight, I’m laying on the carpet in a little palette I had made with my toys and I to pretend like we were camping… it’s pitch black and I’m half asleep and that damn Furby turned and said “WAKEY WAKEY!” I was done. I told dad to please take the batteries out of it. We put it back in the box and I turned it around facing the opposite direction on one of my shelves and put another stuffed animal or two in front of it. Sometimes I wish I would’ve kept it for sentimental value but it definitely traumatized me. 😂

Next iteration should use mesh for the eyes so that they can actually see out of them. That way they can actually be masks

First time seeing one of your videos, I love the concept and I’m excited to watch the rest, the editing when you stepped away from the Furby in the beginning was exceptionally creepy, like it genuinely freaked me out. Top notch!! I just wanted to pause (around 3:18) to offer a friendly bit of constructive criticism, if that’s okay :). This may seem like a small whatever thing, (and it totally is btw!!) but try to follow along and see it from a viewers perspective. When you’re unboxing the Furby, you begin reading something from the box. Is it instructions? The manual? Could it perhaps be a note from the person you purchased it from? I don’t know, you didn’t say! Then you say “oh no, what have I gotten myself into?” As a viewer, I assume perhaps there was a lot of assembly, set-up, maybe a ton of batteries required? Or perhaps you intended to purchase an original vintage Furby, but accidentally ordered a re-issue? Or were you scammed and sent an inauthentic product? No, I think you thanked some guy in the beginning for sending it to you… did they include a note saying their Furby was haunted? What’s going on? I don’t know, but if I keep watching certainly I’ll find out, right? THEN the text on the screen reads; “I’ll probably put my full unboxing and reaction to Furby lore on Patreon” From this I’m still confused, I can’t imagine the instructions contain lore but perhaps they do, or maybe the person who sent it really did include a bunch of weird info or claim it’s haunted, I don’t know! BUT your text saying you’ll do a separate video for Patreon tells me perhaps it’s a bit of a rabbit hole, and you don’t want to get into it in this video, so fine, despite my curiosity, I can drop it, clearly we’re moving on from whatever it is that was…. But then the video continues and you keep saying “oh no” - so many times there a counter that, by the time I paused, had reached around 11 “oh no’s”. I’m pretty lost, I thought we were moving on from that, and now you’re seemingly horrified to open this thing and the reason is never explained or addressed. The “oh no” bit didn’t make sense and dragged on too long. Without a reason, it unfortunately played out like a youtuber blatantly over-dramatizing an extremely simple everyday task that nobody would actually find scary. With context, I don’t feel like it would read that way at all. Just feels like an oversight to me, that’s all!
