Just watched the 10 lies and myths and for number 10 the text did match Dave’s explanation. Text said “payer” gets paid slot, but Dave explained “player” gets paid slot. Love watching you guys. Hope to run into you next time we are in Vegas.

It’s an interesting wrinkle and question, since your play got the bonus. I suspect it’s yours if the bonus result is already set when you hit the bonus, but I don’t know for sure. It might depend on the type of bonus.

I go to Vegas once or twice a year. I play the Wheel of fortune .25 slots, max bet. I put a twenty in and if I win nothing or a small win, I put another twenty in. If I win $30 or more, I cash out and put the ticket in my pocket. That way if I go through my $200 for that day at least I will have a few tickets to turn in and then quit so I never go home empty handed. Last trip, playing WOF, I brought $600 for the trip and ended up winning $930 for a plus $330 adventure. The point being, when you win around $50 don't just keep playing with the extra tokens as you will eventually lose it all...ps love the channel.

For what it's worth, slots experts put WOF and Dragon Links among the hardest to win (significant prizes) machines in Vegas.

Try lower volatility machines and get up a bit more than WOF allows (for the most part), then you’ll have a bit more confidence (and funds) to make a few higher bets. I lose a lot in Vegas on games like WOF just for fun but get actual wins out of things like Top Dollar or Double Diamonds. Whatever you do and no matter the advice, always have fun!

I have one firmly held belief about something that increases my chances of winning on a slot machine. It has no basis in realty, but I don't care. It's completely delusional, but I don't care. I'm sticking with it. Here goes: whenever I get comped a free drink while playing a machine, I always tip the server the full amount of what the drink would have cost me if I ordered it from the bar. I swear, I start winning more afterwards. And if I'm completely wrong, which I am, it's still a good thing to do. So I always do it.

You should not go to Vegas assuming you will win. Sure we always hope to but the house is always in favor. I go twice a year and sure we always say I’m going to get two handpays but it’s jokingly said. Best thing to do is set daily limits and play within your means, don’t go with a daily limit of say a few hundred and play ten dollar spins. I’ve been going since the early 2000’s and sure it’s got a bit more expensive but when going to any vacation town whether it’s Miami, pcb Florida, aspen, Vegas you should always take into account everything will be more expensive.

Was just in Vegas. The number of slot machines with spin buttons that were cracked, broken, or just not working at all was amazing. I attribute this to the button slippers (encountered tons of them), or those trying to stop the spin with a hard smack. If the random number generator decides your spin is “the big one” then you will win big…anything else you do to try and influence the spin, is a waste of your time and money. Go with a plan, a budget, and your attitude set to fun instead of making millions, and you will have a good time.

We’ve seen it hammer smash on the buttons more times than we can count and many times it’s because of the tease of a bonus about to happen that just upsets the player to the point of hammer smashing the button. Just go with a a budget and have fun. Think of it like a ticket to a show with slight chance you’ll win something! 🎰😘

Great info! Another very common myth is that by fast spinning you can stop the reels. Sooooo many people believe this one and even many slot channels here on youtube seem to encourage this falsehood. The truth is that the moment you start your spin the outcome of all the reels is set. When you do a so-called fast spin, you are merely seeing that outcome sooner. The visuals are just an illusion.

I lived in Vegas for 20 years and the only time I went gambling was on my birthday. I'd go to the Plaza and play Bingo for free and then if I won I'd go play Texas Holdem at the Golden Nugget. Then I'd walk up and down Fremont to enjoy the people watching. Because (not sure of they still do it but,) the Plaza would validate your parking for 24 hours if you played a round of Bingo. I'd walk through all the casinos and get all my birthday freebies. Then I'd go home and do again the next year. I left Vehas in 2022, and I still get Plaza brochures around my birthday 🤗

I like to think of it as "game play" and "machine play". Game play is what affects the outcome and is almost exclusively determined by the RNG. Machine play is all the stuff the designers build in to get you to play or keep playing, whether it's fat pigs or full coin pots or all those "almost" bonuses where you get all but one symbol and can see the edge of the missing one. The RNG determines the outcome then the machine displays the result in a way designed to be entertaining and keep you playing.

In the end, it’s pure luck anyone ever wins on slot machines. Stopping the reels is a big myth that people believe too. They honestly believe they tricked the machine. Once you hit the spin button, the outcome is already determined. The reels spinning is purely for entertainment value. Continuing to stop the reels on each spin does change the outcome of future spins though. You play faster and do change the timing. But no way to know if it helps or hurts your chances.

In Australia, slot machines (pokies) are legally required to return a certain percentage to players, which is usually around 95%. However that’s not one individual player, that’s all players over time on a single machine. So I think it is true they can tighten or loosen based on past outcomes but the scale it does this is so broad it’s unlikely to be noticed.

My only advice for slots players (gives you a little edge) You already know most plays are gonna be clunkers, alternating with a few good hands. Bet minimum a lot, to burn through all those throwaway plays, and then play a set of max or near-max wagers every once in a while. If you're good and lucky, one of those rare and valuable bonus plays will hit while you're betting high. Live it up.

I was always under the impression that it is the person who put the money into the machine as the sole winner. Given your comment that it is the person hitting the spin button, why wouldn't a person just walk past every slot machine pushing everybody's slot machine? Sooner or later, that person will win without ever putting money into a machine.

It’s a good question and one we struggle with a bit too. In that case however, that person hitting the play button without permission would effectively be stealing someone else’s money to play slots. Not only would they be booted from the casino but they could also be subject to other charges. It’s obviously very different if you give someone else permission to hit your slot play button.

My first tip to anyone gambling is to bring what you can afford to lose and just have fun. If you win then it's icing but if you lose then you've at least expected to but hopefully had some fun. My second tip for those who gamble often is that if you win a large amount/handpay, set aside what you gambled to win + what you intend on playing with the remainder of the day and then split the remaining in half. When you get home bank 1/2 and put 1/2 aside to play with another day. I started doing this about 10 years ago and haven't played with my own money since. When my bankroll is up I play heavier and when it's down I play lighter. But I always have fun.

The chances of malfunctioning machines has been dropping over the years so that is good. Everything you said here is dead on. As someone that knows and understands how these machines work - no I can't say how or why - I can verify it all. Everything you see on the screen is just there to make the game interesting and to keep you playing. The results of each spin are decided before your finger comes off the button. "Certainly the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you; if you don't bet, you can't win." - Lazarus Long (Robert Heinlein) in the book "Time enough for Love".

I won 6 hand pays at a casino over 4 days. At the Vegas Airport, I got 3 more and the guy next to me got 5. I got 2 on the same machine and that guy got 2 more after I moved to the one he already won 2 on. All on the firecracker one. Totally random and no players card at the airport.

You should always use your players card for two reasons: if you bet enough (regardless of how much you win) you can get comps, and if you win big enough to be forced to report them on taxes then you can right off previous losses to reduce your tax burden. Plus I guess the players card will remind you of just how much you're losing.

My biggest hurdle is leaving a machine that I havent hit anything on. I put in x and pretty much lose it as fast as possible. In that specific situation I feel like it's "due." Of course it's not, but feelings aren't always rational. My way of fighting it is only putting an amount I know I wont feel committed to chasing so if I lose it fast I dont feel like the machine "owes" me anything.

One myth is that if you play a higher denomination that you are due to hit faster then playing lower denomination. So false. I've watched in enough youtube videos that some gamblers go into debt 10's of thousands before hitting, if they do .

The fact is the higher the denomination, the more money the machine will pay out percentage wise. This doesn’t mean you will “win more” it’s just a fact that percentage wise, the higher denomination, the more the machine will pay. Just because you have seen somebody playing a high denomination win nothing means nothing. If you want to win more, IF YOU DO HIT A BONUS, play higher denominations. The majority of people play penny machines which have the lowest percentage payouts. This is a fact and you can look up the payout percentages for all casinos, it’s public knowledge.

What about the myth that certain machines have better odds based on location? Ex: the ones by the entrances and bathrooms have higher/lower odds then those in the middle of the casino?

If they can have different odds at one casino or another (off strip slots are famously looser) then I'm sure they can have different odds from one location to another. But I would guess you need to do a lot of calculations of all the win payout information to figure that out.

@@enmodo Casinos don't typically do this anymore. It's all based on denomination, regardless of location of the machine. Locations of machines are there for one reason only - trying to get people to play them. :)

For #1, my understanding is, 9 out of 10 times when someone thinks they won a big jackpot but didn't (maybe more) it's pretty clear that something malfunctioned, but in the moment the person is so focused on wanting to win it they just look beyond it ;-)

For #2, it's not always a myth that the next person can steal your jackpot - if there's a progressive that's ticking up higher and higher and getting to a payout (ether by a "must hit by" or it's just very high and about to hit), someone technically could "take" what you were about to get. And in some games like regal riches where the bonus wild count increases, it's more likely to hit the higher it gets.... I see people jump on those right after someone builds it up a bit.

I still believe they watch/listen to you through the machine. Because whenever i say outloud im leaving i generally hit a bonus,a big win, or bring me back up to my original deposited amount directly after on the next push. Just my case.
