In this video I show the general workflow concepts when using ArmorPaint.
Get the software here: www.armorpaint.org

I bought this software today and when I try to delete a brush stroke there is a weird dark and shiny gradient on the deleted edges. Do you know why this may be happening?

Thanks mate, just the information I needed. I especially liked your use of Intros and screens, for the various sections and just for your Information, you did ask the question....the wood on the Tommy gun was not smooth enough, too reflective ( overly strong Normals, I think) and the body looked too much like stone due to the reflections, Normals and the patterning,... just my opinion? But hey... we all got to start somewhere, I cringe at the thought of my early models... ha! . I much liked the video overall, it was useful for me..... ;-)

I also have this from time to time and, unfortunately, did not find out why that is. If you have a case of that, maybe you can post it into their discord channel? Would be nice to get this fixed :D discord.gg/T34EMbaz

So far Armor is disaster. It's not intuitive, crashing all the time, nodes are terrible (like color-ramp without sliders). It's really good that someone facing Alembic's Substance but at least now the best way is using Substance or Quixel

What version where you running? At least in my case the later version are pretty stable. Nah, I have to defend ArmorPaint here a bit. In the current state it clearly cannot keep up with Substance or Quixel, which is quite clear given the very different budgets and manpower those projects have. And yes, ArmorPaint has it's sharp corners, some weird nodes surely being among them. But that's rather a question of getting used to it. (I still hope they fix that, though). Then they just recently added some really cool features, such as a built-in material library and "drag-and-drop" procedural dirt and stuff like that, which is really useful. And Armorpaint is extremely slim, with literally no startup time. I use it a lot for smaller projects and game assets having limited fidelity anyways (as compared to film assets probably).

I mean no offense but that is just horrible xD

Haha, it was my first attempt to do something like that. Can you specify a bit what makesvit particularly horrible? So I can at least learn from it ;)

@@CrushingJosch I don't know what exactly they're referring to, but my own critiques (from a complete noob btw) are that the model itself is a bit too "blobby," guns tend to have more straight lines and sharp edges. Even the furniture, while usually smooth and round, still have lots of straight lines and stuff. Though really, most of this can be put down to a stylized look, I'm assuming that's more what you were going for. As for the texturing, I think the wood furniture stands out especially because it looks like deep, rough tree bark as opposed to what it would typically be made of, a more uniform and smoothed hardwood. The metal could be better, but it could theoretically fit better with the stylized look. Honestly I'm probably not even as good as you at either modeling or texturing, I'm watching your tutorial after all lol. But since you asked, hopefully a second set of eyes is constructive.

@@Jrez Hey, thanks for the feedback. In fact, I totally agree and have to realize that I just made one of the most obvious mistakes in tutorial-making... I kind of started with: "It's about HOW to use the software, so the quality of the model doesn't matter". I should have definitely spent more time in making a good-looking asset... :/

@@CrushingJosch well I would agree that it's how the software works that matters, that's the use I got out of the video. Like it's why I came to watch it, but since Sono didn't answer I figured I'd try.
