Hi Timothy, Ditto with below but this being said this was my first view. You are a friendly guy and all your instructions are flowing well without hesitations or pauses. Excellent delivery. It is so important to be a subject matter expert when delivering content. Don't leave out your thanks all together. If at the front end make them quick and if at the back end take as long as you take. Remember that at the movie theater some people never leave their seats until the end of the credits me included. Well done.

Thanks for checking the waypoints for us. I didn't know that the waypoints in the DJI app goes smoothly now similar to the curved edged in the Litchi app. The success of your channel is mostly because of your charisma. Just continue to be yourself and all be getting much greater :-)

Thanks for the kind words! Everything on the channel is done out of pocket and no sponsorships yet. I've reached out to DJI as I would love to continue with other models but I haven't heard anything back. I crashed my Mavic this week and I'm just trying to get a replacement right now but so far, haven't been able to get in touch with the right people at DJI that actually value this content enough to help me out. Glad it's helping out so many folks though! I'll be back up and running ASAP

Hey Timothy I noticed when you had the map view on, that you could see each waypoint, my question is can you change the waypoints on the map (you know shift them onscreen with your finger if you didnt fly the waypoints as you would like?? Good work on the videos

hey is there a feature that can also capture footage of an exact spot while also in the waypoints mode? for example, it just films a certain spot on the ground or down below while doing the waypoints, kind of like mixing point of interest and waypoints at the same time? thanks

Not got mine us Aussies have been screwed by DJI sadly they can not say when I will have mine. They had promised mine by Christmas but that has not happened now they saying mid January sometime. Great product sadly bad supply though seams to be to us aussies as i know of people who have ordered theirs much later than me and they already getting theirs.

Great Channel, really learning at lot from you. My Mavic arrived a couple of weeks ago and it is awesome :) One thing I have noticed is that it continually asking me to calibrate. Is that normal? Also the calibrate doesn't always launch the calibration, it sometimes just does nothing, have you experienced that

Timothy, great video! Question: How do you set the distance to each way point? Example, imagine filming a golf course and let's say that on the first hole it's a "dog leg left" and that change of direction occurs 700 feet from the tee box. How do you set the first way point distance to 700 feet? Thx!!!

I use a ipad mini with cellular connection, if I am outside a cell zone is there a way to get the map in for a remote area while I am at home.

Hi Timothy. I liked the feature being able to use C1 and C2 to add and remove waypoints. I took a look in my current GO4 system and adding and removing waypoints for C1 and C2 was not among the options. Is there a custom setting in there somewhere?

Hello Timothy. I'm a confused with regards to all the calibrations that are required, some videos show eg calibrations for Compass, Vision Sensors, IMU, And Controller. I understand the Compass calibration and why but not the others as to when the need to be done and how do I know when they need to be done. Thank you so much.

Great reviews Tim, I'm 69 years old and a NewBe to Quads and just got my Mavic on the 14th a couple days ago. I've had a Private Pilot license since I was 24 and in my wildest dreams I never thought I would be able to own something as fun and technically advanced as the Mavic. Ariel photography has been a passion all my life. I got lucky in 1980 when Mt St Helens started blowing out ash and flew down took a great photo then had it made into posters and made more than 10K in two months. I'm now starting all over as a beginner. Keep up your straight to the point informative clips.

I am waiting for my Mavic to arrive. I work at some remote places for my job and I want the mavic to pass the time and to be able to take shots of the construction site from balancing the site through completed construction. My question is…..can I set 1 waypoint at a specific altitude…say 150' directly over the site to grab a picture at the end of every work day? I would like this so I can record locations of underground electrical conduits, piping..ect for future reference should there be future additions. Also at these locations there is typically limited cell service and almost zero internet access. Can I still fly out there and set the waypoint with out any of these? Thanks and keep up the great videos!

Constructive feedback: 45 - 60 seconds of welcomes and thank yous and fluff at the beginning of most videos makes your channel difficult to watch content back to back on. You don't need to thank the world at the beginning of every video. Maybe do it at the end if you want? Good content though. :-)

Agreed, we are already here, get right to how to do the waypoint flight, we came here to learn that, not hear a minute of self pro and another few minutes of what we already know, that is, we want to use waypoint mode. Happy your channel is doing well, but you lost me subscribing cause you wont get to the meat of the vid.

my waypoints don't upload to the Mavic. They did the first time I tried a waypoint mission. But now when I enter waypoints, hit done the message giving your height is in red & the mission upload fails. Anyone have any ideas please

Awesome video.......I went right outside and set it up flawlessly. Got all the way to "fly to start" and push apply and it says "Mission exceeds flight restrictions". Only 35M high and 450M total distance........75M from home?

Tim, please do a vid on caching maps. Great videos. Also, let your viewers know many of these modes can be sampled via the simulator. Obviously not like watching your vid but it provides familiarity with same screens you'll see in the real world.

Timothy, at 10:09 you state that you would like the setting to remember the positioning of the gimbal which wasn't done in your testing. I've only just found out myself that the DJI GO 4 app *DOES* allow you to do that.... Sort of. Once you have set your waypoints and are initiating play back if you click on the gear icon in upper right (Settings) you have a few options as to how you want the drone to react. They are "Consistent with Record", "Consistent with Route" and "Free Mode". So, as long as you have the drone pointing to your point of interest at each location the "Consistent with Record" option will swing the drone around for you, essentially leaving the operator to do very little in order to record nice, smooth video shots.... except move the gimbal up and down, perhaps. Have yet to try this myself but plan to on next outing.

as of right now, the only way I know how to do that is using the 3rd party app called "Litchi". The DJI apps do not let you do that.

you may have already answered this but I'm new to your channel, since you mentioned the firmware update... I go off road a lot and sometimes out of service areas for my network, will the drone still fly and work in the previous firmware if I am unable to update at the moment I turn it on ? I have been out of signal areas for 2-3 days at a time...

To my knowledge, you should be fine as long as the app can't figure out that there's new firmware. In other words, if you're off the grid you should be fine. But once it receives notification of a new update, it forces you to update.

In "normal" mode, it's really easy to control even if it's your first one, it's really stable and slow if you take it slow.

flying at slower speeds seem to help me some. and the colder weather I have noticed drains the battery even faster unfortunately.

Somewhere in this cluster of tutorials a guy said if you hook up an external charger to the side connection and your phone to the bottom usb connection, your controller will last longer instead of charging your phone while hooked to the controller hence short controller flight time.

Hey Tim - Love the channel and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Your info has been extremely helpful! Quick question - when I press the C1 button, the RC doesn't seem to be recording waypoints when in waypoint mode. If I tap on my iPhone screen in the DJI Go app - no problem, the waypoint is recorded. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong with the C1 button? Is it a single press or a press and hold or a double press? Is their a way to check and see if the C1 button is properly set/programmed in the default mode to enable waypoint setting? Thanks for the quick reply Tim. You are correct. But for the benefit of others that might be a little slow like me (ha, ha!) --- and for the benefit of the folks at the dji online tech support who couldn't quite explain this to me either ----- a more detailed answer is that you go the 3 dots in the upper right corner to get into the menu that gets you to the place where you can customize the C1 and C2 buttons. And then you can choose how you would like those buttons to function. There is no "waypoint" choice. You have to choose the "unidentified" option. That is what causes the C1 and C2 buttons to accept and delete waypoints respectively. Thanks again for your great videos! I hope this short follow-up is helpful to some of your other followers like me that might need a bit more direction. All the best! And please keep those videos coming!!!

what do you think of the litchi app? I know it has some issues since the recent patch (april 2017) . Great teaching videos, they are a valuable resource. Thank you

So if I fly erratic from one point to the other to program it will it tract that flight path smoothly ?

slightly off topic, however how about some information on the camera. I hear it is a manual focus only? and it can be adjusted by touching the screen.? goods and bads of this and the expected future of this option (staying or improving to autofocus maybe). thanks

so I found out it can do both. that said, isn't this is a new camera idea being small and using a non fixed focus. can this cause problems around moving objects? does the camera hunt in certain environments?
