I just made my first Yorkshire button yesterday. I turned it into a magnetic needleminder. I purchased the template from Gina-B Silkworks in England. I love that you're template has the numbers on it.

Sorry to hear that - always good to have a homemade option and I think the bendable cardboard makes it easier to slip to loops off at the end. Cheers, Christine

I'm sure I can now make those ever-so-neat buttons because I made a whole bunch of wheels for my Kumihimo (and even taught it to elementary kids). These will be great projects for traveling. I was just about to spend over $25 to get wooden looms/circley things but now I don't need to. TFS!

Hi Linda - I haven’t been able to find a reliable source for the history of the name. I’m aware of the history of the Dorset button but the provenance of the Yorkshire button is a bit more murky. Cheers, Christine

Thank you for the tutorial! This button made a great finishing touch for my project :) If I use it again I think I'll want to be a little more careful about the spacing of the notches on my template, but at the yarn weight I was using it was pretty forgiving.

Cardboard is a good and cheap way to begin making Yorkshire buttons. I have the two acrylic kits that Gina Barrett sells which covers a variety of sizes. Really teeny tiny ones, to quite large. A much better option if you want to make a lot of Yorkshire buttons. Especially the Yorkshire cactus pin cushion.

The variegated yarn definitely makes them extra fun. I tried one in a bobbly variegated yarn but unfortunately the bobbly bits obscured the ridges so it just looks like a ball button. Cheers, Christine

How serendipitous! I saw some Yorkshire buttons on Christina's video and was intrigued because I had never heard of them before. Thank you for your excellent demonstration and explanation. Somewhere in the crafty cupboard I have a Japanese flower loom, that I feel like might be a similar process. I have added this to my list of future crafting fun to dos. 😍
