I love when people have so much compassion about music. The little details! Lovely and insurmountable. Thank you for posting this.

Thank you very much! I hope to make more in the future (they take a fair amount of work, haha). If you have any other questions about it feel free to ask here in the comments - the tutorial is in no way intended to be a be-all-end-all, just more of a “stuff I know that may be helpful”.
@toddolaughlin42764 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorWinfrey I imagine a "fair amount of work" is quite the understatement! This tutorial was much more in depth than others I have watched, and the time you took explaining the trills was very helpful. I only had about 2 total years of lessons, and I am now basically learning pieces on my own, so tutorials like yours are extremely helpful. I have two versions of this piece, one in a Chopin Nocturne book, the other in Piano Classics volume 1. I noticed a difference in measure 17 bass line, last triplet. One version is B,G,E, the other is B, F#,E. Can you tell me what your sheet has? Thank you again.

23:39 In measure 14, the first F should be sharped according to the key signature.

@@TaylorWinfrey No problem. I'm learning this piece now and you've given me some great tips. I noticed that for measures 31, 32 and 33 your music shows trills but my Rafael Joseffy edition shows turns over those notes. It adds a little bit more complexity to those measures unfortunately.

YES! ! love this nocturne so much! But my favorite is his Nocturne Op. 9, No. 1, in B-Flat Minor. I have the highly unpopular opinion that it's better than the famous No. 2 in E-flat lol.

@@TaylorWinfrey Same. Also, could you possibly do a tutorial on Debussy's Estampes? I'm currently on page 6 of Pagodes, and the 32nd notes are a nightmare.
@TaylorWinfrey5 жыл бұрын
Could definitely look at that one! I'm also considering doing tutorials on different concepts (rhythm, technique, etc.) so could do excerpts from different pieces. Thanks for the input!

Good tutorial so far , however I would have to comment on ~3:00 I think "pivoting" on the finger ruins the tonal clarity of the triplets , I personally prefer to consciously release the B a bit early to compensate for having to hold down the E and the G less .. maybe this wouldn't be as significant with pedal , but I do play the piece with very minimal pedal and absolutely love to hear it preformed that way
@Lmnopghjiyfsahkkbv3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the size of your hand but I agree with you. Personally, I can reach from middle C all the way up to octave g, I have a huge hand so I agree with you that the pivoting is not necessary. however, people with a smaller hand, like she was illustrating might need to hang on to that middle note in order to get themselves up to the next note based on the size of their hand and the length of their fingers
